Aren’t they the first group / music act to achieve this?? Incredible if so. Well deserved for Stop it’s going to easily end up as one of their best sellers in the years to come 😍

The only artist that’s done it (that I can think of) is Ed Sheeran

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

It exceeded 600,000 sales 14 weeks after the update of 582,314 (8th May), which means it's been selling more than 1263 units a week on average!

If it continues at that rate, it'll be a million seller in September 2026. Bookmark this and we can check in 6 years from now :heehee:

I think the next single certification to look forward to is likely to be Spice Up Your Life going double platinum, maybe within the next 3 years.

Seeing some of these new songs going platinum or 2/3x platinum makes streaming quite laughable when you think about some of the iconic 90s/00s songs which are between silver and platinum

Exactly!

Okay so I looked on the Wikipedia page for platinum singles and the Spice Girls have the most consecutive platinum singles for a group with a total of 9 from their debut. The only other artist ahead of them is Ed Sheeran - he’s had over 22 singles released in the UK as a lead artist (not featured) and they are all platinum/multi platinum except for one which is Silver. He has the most consecutive platinum sellers since his debut release out of anyone.

1. Ed Sheeran - 20 consecutive

2. Spice Girls - 9 consecutive

Ed has certainly reaped the benefits of being popular in the streaming era :drama:

A summary of all Spice Girls group/solo certifications in the UK!

I've written these in order of highest selling to lowest. Most of these have actually sold in excess of the certification they have, however there are some that only did it due to shipments, and I've noted down which these releases are. This is why Look at Me looks like its out of sequence!

Yes this is the next campaign.

Waiting for the updates of the other singles :)

Amazing news for Stop and about time as well! Especially considering the fact Stop seems to be one of their most-remembered/loved songs.

I also don't think it's fair to compare to Ed situation, as most of his sales came from streaming, whereas most of their sales came from singles sales where people actually had to go into a store and spend a few quid on them.

Absolutely not. I mean how many of Ed's singles have actually sold 600k+ in pure sales out of all his releases? Not many, I imagine.

Out of the 9 Spice Girls singles certified Platinum, 8 of them have sold over 600,000 in actual CD sales.

Yep, in fact it was certified Gold in its release week! So that was awarded based on shipments.

(Its total was 99,859 copies by April 2005 / 101,889 - June 2009 / 102,550 - May 2020)

TBH I never bought it online, as it is so expensive on iTunes  I would buy it if it was cheaper. Dont really want to spend £11.99 on it when I can just stream it

Stop is officially platinum!! :cheer:

Spice must be really close to 3 million. I estimate its sales to be 2,998,000+ by now. I reckon it'll pass 3m sometime in October; it's unfortunate that we probably won't get confirmation of when it happens.

Greatest Hits could be quite close to a total of 650,000!
