Yeah it was very successful, a lot of copies sold at a very high price. It has been out over a year now though and unlike an album it wont get many trickle sales so fair enough to get rid of remaining copies for cheap now on places like Amazon.

The Spice25 vinyls are still expensive and in a lot of cases more expensive than release week as they will still get trickle sales over time.

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

Official Charts released a new article about Viva Forever's anniversary today and whilst the full Sales are not technically updated, they do update the 1st Week sales for VF:

The track logged two weeks at Number 1, shifting 278,000 copies in its opening week and holding off a new entry from Will Smith - his cover of Just The Two Of Us landed at Number 2. Total UK chart sales for Viva Forever stand at 798,000, including 12.1 million streams.

We already had a more precise first week sales figure - 277,911! They just rounded it up because OCC generally dislikes to give accurate figures.

Also it’s not a new article, it’s from last year. Note the publication date at the top of the article. That’s why the total sales figure hasn’t changed.

Oh I didnt notice the date of the article, bummer!! We should ask them for an update on the sales figures at least!! Bet it is over 800,000 copies by now!

'Wannabe', however, is this week's Official Chart Flashback:

To date, the song has racked up over 2.2 million chart sales in the UK alone. An incredible 1.1 million of these consist of sales of its physical formats, with the song also boasting over 108.5 million streams and counting.

Thanks for posting that Liam! :D I wish OCC were more specific with their totals and format breakdown, but it's good to have official confirmation that it's over 2.2 million in total now.

1.1 physicals wasn’t it on1.3 physicals before?

No that would have been including downloads (last July it was said to be 2 million chart sales overall, with 1.4 million of it being pure sales).

Its total was 1,194,154 in November 2007, so it checks out that OCC have it down as selling 1.1 million physical (at that point it would have accumulated 3 years of downloads, but I don’t know how many it had sold up to that point).

In September 2017 its pure total was revealed to be 1,385,211, and an additional 160,276 from streaming at that point made its total 1,545,488.

At this point it seems about 800,000 of its total is from streaming!

So 1.4 million sales

800,000 streaming units

2.2 million combined

Just saw the OCC article. Fingers crossed for more updates for the Spiceworld era

These are my estimates for how much their singles totals could be by tomorrow, 22nd July (to the nearest 100):

2,206,100 - Wannabe

1,380,000 - 2 Become 1

1,162,300 - Spice Up Your Life

1,153,300 - Say You'll Be There

965,000 - Goodbye

895,100 - Mama / Who Do You Think You Are

821,800 - Viva Forever

751,200 - Too Much

726,200 - Stop

320,500 - Holler / Let Love Lead the Way

62,300 - Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)

= 10,443,800

Bonus:

142,800 - Mama

23,200 - Let Love Lead the Way

= 10,609,800

I'm impatient for Spice Up Your Life and Say You'll Be There to reach 2xPlatinum!

Album estimates (to the nearest 1000):

3,035,000 - Spice

1,623,000 - Spiceworld

717,000 - Greatest Hits

275,000 - Forever

= 5,650,000

Singles and albums total = 16,259,800 (let's say 16,260,000) - and this won't include whatever they've accumulated from their album tracks, I think there's a possibility that would be over 200,000 units. So they're probably in the region of 16,500,000 as a career total (not including their VHS/DVD sales which are sadly unknown).

It’s so great how much the Greatest Hits has grown in the last 15 years.

We were all disappointed it only just made platinum when originally released but is now edging more towards triple platinum.

Those are quite frankly insane numbers! Good for them!

EXCITED for Spice Up Your Life to get to double platinum!! Maybe with Spiceworld25 promo it could by next year?? Here's hoping, cos it would be amazing for them to have three double platinum records by next year!

Also, girlies, we NEED to get Goodbye over the million mark!! COME ON!!!

So Wannabe was at 2.1 million in October 2021, so it’s done approx 100k units in 9 months, that’s just over 11,000 a month. So if the song maintains that average, it should get to 4x Platinum in January 2024
Wannabe is back in the vinyls singles chart top 10 at #8 and the physical singles chart at #9.
Thats amazing! Clearly the reduced price has been helpful
When you go on HMV they’re having a 50% off flash sale and on the vinyls section (Wannabe) is on page 1 and is the fourth vinyl on the first row. Hopefully it’s picked up some sales on HMV too.
