Find it strange how their Greatest Hits barely got any chart activity until after the boost from the Olympics. Had it appeared on the budget chart at all?

It's so odd, but at the same time, their profile wasn't massive... and I think their treatment of the last tour, like a fairwell, made people think it was over. And then it all went quiet until 2012 so...

 

They did barely any promo for the GH at the time. I feel like the GH is more popular nowadays and their profile is much bigger... Plus, over the last few years, the 90s are kind of back again so they have become quite a cool act again..

Seems so bizarre to see Spice Girls doing best on streaming!

It isn't in print so getting a new copy is unlikely.

It's going to be interesting to watch this final run up to the Greatest Hits going 2xPlatinum. It's pretty much guaranteed to happen sooner or later now.

I really hope it manages it! If the streaming could hold up that would certainly be helpful. It's sold 541,900 now, so 58,100 to go.

It seems likely that Spice Up Your Life could become a "millionaire" by summer 2019, just in time for the concerts!

 

The new Wannabe figure of 1,620,850 is again only taking into account the lower pure sales figure, rather than the higher pure sales that were used in OCC's millionaires article from September 2017. If we regard 1,620,850 as Wannabe's sales, then I think it would likely reach 1.8m (3xPlatinum) by the end of 2019. If the higher pure sales were used, then I think it would have crossed over 1.8m in spring 2019.

 

I'm thinking that Stop should be able to make it to platinum within the next 5 years! I think it'll reach Platinum sooner than Say You'll Be There would reach 2xPlatinum.

This return could push spice over the 3 million which would be great although I never realised spice world more or less only sold half the amount of their debut although for me spice world is the better album.

Like I knew they had multiple #1s etc but they were nearly all genuine hits and not like boy band #1s what dropped like bricks after debut week.

 

The Spice Girls Greatest Hits album is up 37 places this week to #41 on this weeks Official Irish Album chart! 🇮🇪🎤

out of interest where did you get them from? My local HMV had 1 copy.

I purchased them on hmv online as part of the £10 for 2 cd's and purchasing a Take That cd to make up my 4th purchase.

Back in the Irish Top 40 this week, moving up to #38! In the UK it is down to #81 this week.

 

As of yesterday, the Greatest Hits CD is in a HMV promotion - you can buy it for just £2.99 alongside any purchase you make. :D CDs in this deal are usually positioned by the till, so everybody who buys something in HMV will be asked if they're interested in buying anything in that offer, so will likely see the Greatest Hits prominently! Hopefully a lot of people will fancy buying it. :cool:
