I expected her to go straight to #1 within the hour. Still, she'll still go #1 with ease

So between the hours 5 and 6am you expected Taylor to outsell all other tracks from over the past 24 hours? Come on, be realistic!

maybe its a grower but on 1st listen is a kinda weird and very un-Tayloresque song :D

That's exactly why I like it, It leaves behind her boring ass 1989 era sound

Let's face it, Taylor could have released anything as the first single and it would have been a worldwide #1. She knew that so she's probably saving the big commercial song (something like Blank Space?) for the second single.

Anyway, getting to #1 between 5am-9am is insane, most of her fanbase are probably still asleep.

Swish Swish  22

Taylor is shaking.

Swish Swish has been hanging around iTunes and Spotify since it was released in May. It's hit potential is massive. Hopefully now with the video and radio play it will actually smash.

Annoying they took it off the Spotify playlists a month ago.

it's probably part of Taylor's deal with Spotify that they can't promote Katy's single at the same time, you'd think it would get a Hot Hits UK re-add but Taylor will do anything to ruin Katy's career.

wait, the Taylor song is based on Right Said Fred- I'm too sexy???

I thought it sounded familiar.

However, even if it is based on that song (which I loathed), I  this new Taylor song!

Yasss at Taylor being #1  hopefully she gets there officially as well!

I'm just gonna presume this isn't being serious

Damn I'm disappointed in that Taylor Swift song. The song builds up well but that chorus is just a massive fart and so damn lazy. Expected more after such a great 1989 era.

Basically my feelings on it but I'll accept it for what it is and it should grow. It already is. But I doubt it'll go down as one of her classics - ironic that this is what is likely to break her a UK number 1 finally.

If this was aimed at me, I never said she *probably* would, just that I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't do as well as everyone was predicting her to, and that people shouldn't be so confident in songs they hadn't even heard! :P

THIS exactly.

Having heard the song, it will probably be #1 officially but not with the huge numbers some were predicting. As others have said, the verses and and bridge are good but the chorus is a bit of a non-event. The bridge should have built to a great big killer chorus! She needs to take songwriting classes from me tbh B-)

Regarding other new songs:

New Fergie is more 90s than any song I've heard since the 90s

Martin Garrix has gone back to his earlier sound and therefore 'Pizza' is a bit of a banger  deserves to be a smash tbh.

New Foo Fighters is brilliant, best thing they've done for ages!

New Script is a bit rubbish really, I'll let the haters have that one

I have to be honest, this new Taylor Swift song sounded awful on first listen. The only thing I can remember about it is that it's clearly about everyone she's feuding with. I'm surprised she hasn't alienated her fan base with this. I dunno, maybe it's just that I think she's focusing too much on feuding and it comes across childish to me. But there didn't seem to be anything else to the song.

Actually in a way it's a bit like the song she did with calvin harris for rihanna

This is what you came for

Great start great verses but then no chorus (Na na na la la la instead of a proper chorus)

Hope the next single is better

And she teams up with cowriters that do a better job

To be fair, 'Shake It Off' had quite a repetitive and fairly nothing-y chorus but it worked! I think this does similarly.

The second single (Blank Space) had a massive and explosive chorus, so maybe it'll be the same here?

50% lead for Taylor!

"You're all over estimating her"

50% Lead already? Its only 11am too :o I can't see this not debuting at #1 officially to be honest.
