I think a big hit can easily not go top 10 (or even top 20 these days), but in terms of chart "smashes", I think of like...Shape of You, Despacito, New Rules, Unforgettable, Feels, Wild Thoughts etc, songs that easily went top 10.
Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Heavy by Anne-Marie have been added to Hot Hits UK
I'll be thrilled if 'Homemade Dynamite' even goes top 100 really, 'Perfect Places' did nothing so just anything to resuscitate this era even slightly would be fine. x

Ed Sheeran is the last person who'd need to do payola on Spotify :lol:

 

His label has a really good deal with Spotfiy though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were for the whole campaign. New (post album) songs are generally added to the bottom of Hot Hits to start with no matter the artist.

Decent start for Anne-Marie tbh!

it's so annoying seeing the 41-50 section filled up with so much deadwood when Cardi B could really use the exposure. I'm sure she'll make top 50 within a few days though.
I reckon spotify should maybe consider an ACR style chart that is promoted, maybe as the "Hot 50" or something, instead of the top 50... so older songs can drop out and give newer stuff the top 50 exposure. They could still publish the actual top 200 but promote a top 50 with a much better turnover.
