September 4, 20177 yr Author Bring that body closer 29. Try Me (Ft Jason Derulo + Matoma | Everything Is 4 | Avg.6.178 C3Z8tsI8RrM Highest Scores: 10: (Tombo, Adelina555), 9: (Liam), Lowest Scores: 1.5 (The Pensmith) At #29 is 'Try Me' which features Jason Derulo + Matoma, and released in October 2015 as the 3rd European single taken from Derulo's 4th album 'Everything Is 4'. A pop ballad with tropical beats and a Latin tinged production. A pretty light and fun track that surprisingly didn't get a music video and considering the names involved, didn't become the smash hit it deserved, I honestly think that if this was given more of a push, then it would have been huge, instead only experience moderate success worldwide by hitting top 5 in Norway, top 20 in Denmark and top 40 peaks in Austria, Sweden + Germany. In the UK it failed to gain interest by peaking at a mere #113.
September 4, 20177 yr I thought that 'Try Me' was better received than that middling score. I've always found it to be average and one of the weakest tracks from the 'Everything Is 4' album so always wondered why it was deemed the 'hit' that got away or even as a highlight. Glad I misjudged the level of love.
September 5, 20177 yr Author I am walking away from you towards the darkness 28. Me Haces Falta | Como Ama una Mujer | Avg.6.363 XOpSqkBBbz8 Highest Scores: 10: (Regina, Lukuzz), 8: (Adelina555), Lowest Scores: 2: (CianS) At #28 is another JLO non-English speaking track, 'Me Haces Falta' which translates in English 'I Miss You', released in March 2007 as the 2nd and final single from her 5th studio album 'Como Ama una Mujer'. Written and produced by her then husband Marc Anthony and Estefano. The lyrics speak of self loathing and had a warm reception from critics who praised the lyrics, but dismissed the production. This isn't considered one of her more well known songs as on here it received the least amount of rates with 19 out of 31 rated this song. It's a nice enough number and her voice does sound great on it, you can hear the passion and emotion in her vocals, but honestly it's not something I go back to very often and doesn't quite have that mainstream appeal. Upon release this didn't experience the same success as the lead single by failing to chart anywhere, and therefore becoming one of the most least known songs of her career.
September 5, 20177 yr Author No second, third or fourth love.. 27. First Love | A.K.A. | Avg.6.375 BfgoiYu9EUE Highest Scores: 10: (classydude), 9: (Regina, SamJudd, Floater), Lowest Scores: 2.5: (The Pensmith) At #27 we say goodbye to the last of the A.K.A. era singles, 'First Love', released in May 2014 as the 2nd single from that album. This marks her first time working with producer Max Martin whose name should be familiar to most as he's produced massive hits for big names such as Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry and the list goes on. Quite surprising that she's waited so long to work with him and what they've produced together is fantastic. Far more pop than her usual outings, but does have that hint of hip-hop in there and driven by some fantastic percussive drums that gives it a beautifully big epic sound and moves everything along at a swift pace, while the chorus shifts into a more dancier sound that packs some great energy. I even loved the wonderful music video where she looks fantastic in a classy black and white setting, draped on a handsome male model, which suits the song really well. Upon release the song sadly underperformed by peaking at #63 on the UK charts, and faring even worse on the US Billboard charts peaking at a mere #87 and didn't fare much better worldwide apart from a top 20 peak in Spain. If this was released back in 2006 or 2007, then this could have stood a better chance at becoming a smash hit it deserved, which is such a shame as this is a pure quality pop song.
September 5, 20177 yr Author It is born out of nothing and becomes everything 26. Back It Up (Ft Prince Royce + Pitbull) | Double Vision | Avg.6.42 9w9dXWU5nMI Highest Scores: 10: (Liam, classydude), 9/9.5: (Regina, Cucumberella, JosephStyles, Floater), Lowest Scores: 2.5: (The Pensmith) At #26 is 'Back It Up' which features Latin singer Prince Royce and JLO's long time collaborator Pitbull. Released on May 2015 as the 2nd single from Prince Royce's 4th album ''Double Vision'. There are three versions of this song, a Spanglish version, a Spanish version and the English version the only one of which features Pitbull. To be perfectly honest I actually forgot that Pitbull was even on this track, I don't know why..it just slipped my mind. Anyway this song is really fun nonetheless, it has a really good beat and after listening to it again, I do like the way the tempo changes when Pitbull raps his part which makes the song a whole lot more fun. The lead artist Prince Royce is the definite standout out this, along with Jennifer Lopez of course who both have great chemistry on this well crafted pop song with an interesting tropical beat, and of course the music video which really captures the fun vibe of the song with it's stunning cinematography and great rhythm. So in all, just a fun upbeat song that really does make you want to get up and dance. Upon release the song performed well on the Latin charts by hitting top 10 on the Latin Pop and Tropical airplay charts, as well as top 20 on the US Hot Latin songs chart, and even managed to cross over on the US Billboard charts at #98, making this his second entry on that chart. Then finally making a small impact on the Spanish and Canadian charts by peaking in the top 60 on both charts. 25. Ni-Tu-Ni-Yo (Ft Gente de Zona) | Avg.6.72 V5_tnpdnNz4 Highest Scores: 10: (Regina), 9/9.5: (classydude, Addy King, Lukuzz), Lowest Scores: 3/3.5: (CianS, The Pensmith) At #25 is JLO's latest offering 'Ni-Tu-Ni-To' which features Cuban Reggaeton duo Gente de Zona. Another of Jennifer Lopez's Spanish singles and released in July 2017 as the lead single from her upcoming 9th studio album which is set to be released this year, and will also mark her 2nd Spanish language album since 2007. The song's title translates is 'Neither you nor I', and well I must say she's done it again with this release, marking another fun non-English track from her and she seems to have a knack for finding the right collaborators on these tracks as this is yet another slice of fun irresistible pop, where lyrically both artists proclaim their love for each other over such a fast pace and joyful production that has that perfect summer vibe to it. And of course let's not forget that stunning music video where Jennifer looks stunning in that canary yellow flowing gown, set against that beautiful tropical paradise with such stunning imagery, that goes along perfectly with the song. This was the 3rd song that she's previewed from her upcoming studio album, 'Mirate' which she performed at the Billboard Latin Music Awards and 'Olvidame y Pega la Vuelta' which features her ex hubby Marc Anthony which was performed at the Latin Grammy's and given a digital release. So far the song has already become successful on the Latin charts by hitting #2 on Tropical airplay, #15 on US Hot Latin charts and has performed moderately worldwide by reaching top 40 positions in Spain, Hungary, Switzerland and Venezuela.
September 5, 20177 yr I reaaaaally like 'Back It Up'! I was hoping that might have been a hit back in 2015.
September 5, 20177 yr Was going to complain about 'Back It Up' being too low, but remembered I actually prefer the version without J-Lo  'First Love' on the other hand, now that should be higher! Most of the weak songs are out already so these results are getting brutal pretty quickly.
September 6, 20177 yr Author Let you play those games I don't understand 24. Hold It Don't Drop It | Brave | Avg.6.916 Gmc8kjkwG4A Highest Scores: 10: (Regina, Tawdry Hepburn, Scene), 9: (Davidson, all is vanity, Addy King, PAJ88, JosephStyles), Lowest Scores: 3: (CianS, blacksquare, gavindeejay) At #24 is 'Hold It Don't Drop It' released in January 2008 as the 2nd and final single from 'Brave'. The song samples the bassline from the Tavares hit 'It Only Takes A Minute', and this sees JLO going full out disco diva with huge horns and abrasive production that echo's a funky beat throughout. Lyrically the song isn't very deep, it's just a full blown good time where JLO's vocals sound very good here and the song works well within' them. Honestly thought this song would have done better on here despite several high rates consisting of 3 10's, 5 9's and a few 8's, despite that it had quite a few middling scores which brought it's average right down, despite starting off well. I always thought that this was a total fan favourite, but not quite as it seems. While the song is very decent, it isn't great and can see why it got passed over as the lead single for the far better 'DIW', for me this just lacks that edge for greatness and not quite there in my opinion. Upon release this song totally tanked by failing to chart on the US Billboard charts altogether, only reaching the dance charts, thanks to it's many remixes. In the UK it had slightly more luck but not much by peaking at #72, becoming her first to miss the top 40. There are a number of factors as why this probably failed, firstly the non-existent promo due to Jennifer's pregnancy which is clearly evident in the music video, and the video itself which just looks cheap and very low budget, especially compared to the lead's video, and finally the failure of the album upon release which was pretty much out of the charts by the time this arrived, so nothing was gonna save it, and in the end despite the title track being planned as the 3rd single, the lack of success of this song pretty sealed the era's fate and it would take her 4 years to fully rebound from this.
September 6, 20177 yr 'Hold It Don't Drop It' is the only real loss so far. I forgot how much I loved it until doing this rate. It's a tune  I honestly think if it didn't flop terribly it would be much better thought of.
September 6, 20177 yr Author I ain't your mama, boy 23. Ain't Your Mama | Avg.7.15 Pgmx7z49OEk Highest Scores: 10: (Regina), 9: (Jack, classydude, Nick F1, Mack, JosephStyles), Lowest Scores: 2: (Rossco) At #23 is another of JLO's most recent offerings 'Ain't Your Mama' which was released in April 2016, and was supposed to be the lead single of her upcoming album, but these plans have been scrapped as she's decided to record a Spanish album instead, and so this wound up being a stand alone release instead. The release of this song caused a lot of controversy due to the lecherous Dr Luke being one of the producers, and was aired just when Kesha's court case against him was thrown out, talk about bad timing and of course caused a outrage amongst fans and many were urged to boycott this single, which really hindered the song's chance for success. The song itself is very fun and sassy with lyrics that really compliment the catchy flow and swinging beat. You can tell that Megan Trainor is one of the writers on this, as this has her kind of sound through and through and could have easily ended up on one of her albums. While the song may not be one of her best, it's still very decent and would have stood a much better chance if it wasn't for the controversy. Upon release the song was a very minor hit on the US Billboard charts by reaching #76 becoming her 30th chart entry. Elsewhere it fared much better, becoming her biggest hit in 4 years in several places by reaching top 10 in Germany, Hungary, Israel, Spain & Argentina, while hitting top 20 in Austria, Switzerland and France.
September 6, 20177 yr Pretty sure this was always gonna be stand alone as she confirmed the Spanish album was her next project ages ago?
September 7, 20177 yr Author I'm in the spotlight, all night, ready to go... 22. Live It Up (Ft Pitbull) | Avg.7.177 BofL1AaiTjo Highest Scores: 11: (Tombo, JosephStyles), 10: (Regina, Rossco, Jay), Lowest Scores: 2.5: (Scene) At #22 we finally have a song that's scored an 11, the ever fantastic 'Live It Up', which was released in May 2013 and features Pitbull, marking their 4th collaboration together, and was meant to feature on her 8th album 'A.K.A.', but didn't make the final tracklisting (WHY!), this was awesome a full on club banger and would have been a welcomed addition to said album, especially as this performed better than it's first 2 singles. Plus the pair do work great together and this is one of their shining examples and yeah maybe by this point people were starting to get sick of their constant collaborations and I say who cares as long as they deliver something great, it doesn't bother me one bit. JLO's vocals sound fantastic on this as well, and love her introduction after Pitbull's rap, so fierce as she belts the 'I hit the spotlight.. part which is my favourite bit of that song. Upon release the song was a moderate success by reaching #60 on the US Top 100, but faring much better in the UK by peaking at #17 making this her 22nd top 20 and last to date. Elsewhere it managed top 10 peaks in Spain, Greece, Israel, South Korea & Lebanon, top 20 in Finland, Ireland, Canada & Australia, then 40 peaks in 6 other countries. This almost made the top 20 here, but slipped around the half way mark, which is a shame and did manage to gain several high scores with 2 11's. 3 10's & 10 8's and 9's, but did get slowed down by quite a few low and middling scores.
