Both songs were seen as potential huge singles upon the release of their respective albums and neither disappointed, becoming huge top ten hits on both sides of the Atlantic.

For me, it has to be "Where Have You Been". It's not as good as "We Found Love" but it's amongst the best songs on Talk That Talk. "Stay" is good but not her strongest ballad and Unapologetic as a whole has many more better songs on it.

WHYB 9/10, although it used to be a weak 10. I forget it exists these days and it's pretty repetitive also.

 

Stay used to be maybe a 5 but I've grown to quite enjoy it :P which I gave 8/10.

Stay has to take it for me although WHYB was a big fave at the time, Stay is one I come back to every winter.

Big fan of both of these, but I definitely prefer 'Stay. Possibly her best ballad?

I loved 'Where Have You Been' at the time but I hardly ever go back to it, it seems very of its time. The video's one of my favourites of hers though, those dance routines! :heart:

Stay is her worst single ever for me, unbearably dreary. 1/10.

 

Whereas Where Have You Been is fantastic and energetic, one of her very best from the more recent eras. 8/10.
