Oh that's good!! Is it its best day on the platform so far?

Lovely to see it grow the last 2 days in streams.

Hoping they are over 9m listeners tomorrow too.

Over 9m listeners on Spotify for the first time ever, 9,018,166 to be exact.

Feed your love still not in their top 10 though #sigh

So this means no midweeks, right? 😕

Dont think anyone expected the song to get a chart position now. If it had been released at the same time as the vinyl, sure, but separately, probably not... I wouldnt count on it at all at this stage

UK iTunes

Not only that but an EP is a bit of an oddity now. Downloads of the whole of it count as 1 sale for Wannabe but streams of Feed your love count as feed your love streaming sales. Where as a full album streams of the songs would count as album streams.

Essentially Feed your love is a b-side and they just don't exist anymore

Great to see their Spotify monthly listeners exceed 9 million

Today's midweeks...

Greatest Hits is #143 with 452 sales [350 streaming sales / 47 downloads / 29 CDs / 26 Vinyl]

Fingers crossed that it should be able to hold onto the Top 200 on Friday. I feel like it should be able to do it.

The rules for album streams is that the two most streamed tracks are weighted down to the average number of streams of the next 10 most popular tracks. Obviously Wannabe and likely Stop are the two that have their streams brought down. Judging by Spotify, the 10 tracks that aid GH's streaming sales are: Say You'll Be There, 2 Become 1, Mama, Who Do You Think You Are, Move Over, Spice Up Your Life, Too Much, Viva Forever, Goodbye & Holler. The unfortunate thing is that their streaming for these songs, relative to most other albums in the chart, isn't very strong. Somehow, UMC needs to put more focus onto those 10 songs, if they want the GH to have more of a chart presence. I mean even with this attention for the anniversary and a push on Spotify, there are 10 Westlife tracks that are getting more UK streams (because Westlife's GH has managed 362 streaming sales so far this week...)

Wannabe is a little more complicated to explain if you're not an avid follower of the UK charts.

They're not Top 100 in the official singles midweeks chart. In case you don't know, this chart has a few rules applied to it. For instance only three songs per artist are eligible to chart (to avoid entire albums charting). Some songs have their streaming sales halved - I won't go too in depth with this, but Wannabe definitely has its streaming numbers halved.

In a separate Top 200 singles chart which doesn't have those rules - which isn't the official chart anymore - Wannabe is #184, with 2,701 sales [2,261 streaming sales / 440 downloads]. So in terms of the official Top 100, they would convert it to 1,131 streaming sales + 440 downloads = 1,571 sales. However, official midweek #100 has 2,315 sales so far, so Wannabe is 744 sales behind. Unfortunately it's unlikely to stay in that unofficial Top 200 by Friday.

The 440 downloads is split between 119 "tracks" (i.e. people purchasing Wannabe by itself, or a remix of it) and 321 "bundles" (which is a purchase of an EP). Which certainly shows how low download sales are in general. I'm a little disappointed that the EP has only attracted that many purchases... maybe some fans are saving it for physical release week, but hmm, I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Thank you Jay for this update, sales and explanation re the charts.

I do have a suggestion that I could put to the right people. Do you think that it would be beneficial if the GH was placed at the top of their Spotify page as the 'Artist's Pick'?

Edited by Spice Girls Net

Wannabe did 394k streams on Monday and Stop did over 100k streams again. I think Stop has done over 480k streams since Friday which is amazing as it does 500k per week on average.

Spotify has updated their stream counts and STILL there's no sign of "Feed Your Love" in the Top 10 :(

Ooh yes - I think that would be helpful! Whenever they don't want Wannabe 25 to be the Artist's Pick, it really should be Greatest Hits!

They should definitely recategorise Greatest Hits by putting it in the Albums section, alongside Spice, Spiceworld and Forever, instead of having it nearer the bottom of their Spotify page in the Compilations section. Girls Aloud actually have their 'Ten' album in their albums section!

Ideally the radio versions of 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are, Mama, Too Much, Viva Forever, Goodbye, Holler and Let Love Lead the Way - which all appear on the Greatest Hits - should be added into their official playlists.

Feed Your Love and the Wannabe Demo should be added to their official playlists too, because those streams are going to slow right down once the EP isn't new anymore!

Tbh I wish their 'This Is Spice Girls' playlist had more focus on the group songs. It currently doesn't include The Lady Is a Vamp, Get Down with Me, Wasting My Time, Weekend Love, Time Goes By, If You Wanna Have Some Fun, Oxygen or Voodoo, and also none of the B Sides. There's only 25 Spice Girls songs included... they should all be there. The main point of a 'This Is' playlist is to bring focus to an artist's catalogue, so it's a shame that it's restrictive. Arguably there's too many solo songs - why 'Midnight Fantasy' is included I'll never know.

So basically all of their 90’s singles made the top 20 best sellers of each year! They were HUGE!

It's so impressive! :cheer:

Ah too much just missed out… still impressive to make top 30 at the end of the year!

Exactly, still impressive for the last two weeks of the year.

I mean 2B1 was in the Top 5 and released two weeks before the end of 1996 but that was a massive seller for them.
