In a short chart history of just five top 40 hits he's had three of those make the year-end top 40, and he gets his highest position to date with '1UL'. Released to immediate love from the dance forum I of course had to check it out and the verdict was... yes this is proper amazing. The futuristic dance production blends in well with the vocals to make something that sounds like a big chart hit... in Buzzjack personal charts only that is, as we don't live in a world where Danny is a big name and this style of dance has broken through. Proper banger and big respect to Danny for making tunes like no-one else.

Landing just outside the top 20 is one-hit wonder Petit Biscuit. Someone at Spotify must have loved this song because it was on Today's Top Hits for a while which re-introduced me to this, actually from 2015 and won one of the UP contests I took part in. It's a great song though and quickly shot into my top 10 and had impressive longevity. It's a very chilled instrumental but has enough features in it to keep me interested and going back for more. Really well produced and very much unlike anything else that was a big hit for me which makes it more surprising that he made the track at only 15 years of age.

Which of the above will make the top 10 and what will just miss the cut?

Real Life   what an absolute tune, such a dream collab and it really really delivered

1UL is a tune too, so different to everything else out there rn, but I think I still prefer Broken Flowers

Sunset Lover is amazing, so chilled and nice, absolutely loved his album too  he’s definitely one to watch for me, although I have yet to actually Chart any of his songs whoops :kink:

Love both It Ain't Me and Instruction from the last 10 songs  Selena and Demi both being brilliant on dance tracks last year!

Rooting for one of the Zara tracks to take the #1!!

I am so happy that "Real Life", "Instruction", "It Ain't Me" and "1UL" made it in your Year-End list!

All are great dance songs!

Looking forward to where you put Real Life in your EOY list, I presume higher than where it is for me! So so good.

I'd say 1UL just edges Broken Flowers but both are essentials.

Haven't really liked anything else of his, Sunset Lover seems like a one-off really.

That was quite surprising as I've never really been into their solo material, good to see them maturing anyway.

'Symphony' is definitely a contender and 'I Would Like' may be in the top 10 too.

I am so happy that "Real Life", "Instruction", "It Ain't Me" and "1UL" made it in your Year-End list!

All are great dance songs!

Some more great dance songs to come!

thanks guys~

Really like It Ain't Me! The melody is really nice and it actually got me more into Selena as well! Still waiting for Kygo to release anything anywhere near as good :(

Starting off the top 20 is Snakey fave and the new sponsor of Wednesdays in the shoutbox, Watermät! I never thought he'd make something as good as 'Bullit' again so to do it twice in one year was very impressive. This one featuring queen of dance music Kelli-Leigh was quietly released on Spinnin' Deep and only got my attention a few weeks later, but quickly exploded on my chart. It's a brilliantly produced track and very dancey as you'd expect from Watermät. A proper upbeat dance bop despite being deep house, a genre that seems to have faded a bit sadly but it's good to see Watermät hasn't disappeared like others from his era (looking at you Secondcity, Ten Walls, Oliver $...).

Great to see Unforgettable so high as well, not usually my type of genre that's one of the best chart hits this year with a great instrumental as you say, I wish the same can be said for Just Us, so sad that that never took off :(

Following up the massive 'Trouble' I expected another big song to come and that we got in (unexpectedly an instrumental track) 'Run', well I mean big in my chart obviously this wasn't going to get a real chart push. It did eventually get a vocal mix but way too late and the original is far better anyway. It's very dancey and more of the unique offaiah sound so of course I was going to love it, even if it isn't quite as strong as 'Trouble' the song refused to age for me for quite a while, eventually having an even longer chart run (by two weeks). The striking piano mixed with the flute riff and deep house beats makes the song more than interesting enough, even if it's very repetitive.

Anyway, amazing track, glad it made top 20 in your year end charts and should have been a big summer hit in an ideal world.

Run by offaiah is brilliant too and I do like the version with vocals too! It's not deep house I don't think either but tribal house ;) If only some of these songs in your countdown had of made the top 40 :(

Disciples got a surprise UK chart hit with 'On My Mind' which of course brought them back into my personal chart and not only that but giving them their biggest ever hit despite being their first chart entry to miss the top 10 (previous release 'Daylight' however missed the entire chart). It just goes to show that a well produced bop can go very far and this really is brilliant. From the groovy bassline to the hooks all over the track, it was great watching this turn into a proper hit and it was one of the year's best. Follow-up 'Jealousy' wasn't half as good but still managed to be a minor chart hit here so I have hope for them in 2018.

Managing to top his WILTY rework from last year, at #17 is John Gibbons with his PYT rework. He really does a great job of bringing these songs to life, and this one particularly is so fun and upbeat so it's a shame it stalled just outside the UK top 40 following a similar fate to 'Would I Lie'. Whoever's doing the vocals does a great MJ impersonation, and the production is brilliant.

Everything about this screams summer jam, and with it sampling one of my favourite ever trance songs 'On The Move' I was of course going to love it. BJSC fans will note that this is another of my entries of 2017 and there'll be three more to come (including Oliver Moldan who is a big #1 contender). It's a cross between tropical and laidback house which ultimately delivers as a great chart-friendly bop, though I believe it only touched the Dutch charts, where Lucas & Steve are from. It may be a bit on the generic side but when it's this good, I can look way past that.

DJ Licious broke out with this brilliance which ended up becoming another hit for me in BJSC, becoming my third top 10 hit of the year. It's exactly the type of dance I love and would like to see more of in the charts (sadly this is one of the many dance bangers that never went near the chart). With power vocals and great production it was always going to be a hit in my chart, even if it took a little while to really get going. It's just great to have a dance song that's really unashamedly dancey, and basically a modern version of the 90s diva house. He's already lost his one-hit wonder tag so hopefully we get to hear more in 2018.

I think it was quite a big hit in France, and on Spotify in general with well over 200m streams. Really unique and brilliantly produced anyway.

I am liking most of these big urban hits fortunately, good to see the genre become such a chart force.

Shame about Just Us but they kinda messed the release up for that. :(

Yes to It Ain't Me, Instruction, Real Life and Lonely together appearing in your top 40 so far.

It's kinda deep house to my ears, and also it was released on Spinnin' Deep. :kink: Proper choon anyway.

Not too sure how to describe some of these songs tbh just doing the best I can ha.

Watermät having two songs in my EOY top 20 is to say the least very unexpected, so great to have him around.

Glad you were a big fan, shame it didn't have enough to get outside the bottom 5 in the final of BJSC.

I think it was a big fluke hit really, I doubt they'll get such a hit again unless they work with a popular artist.

It was a big year for Zara Larsson which started off with 'I Would Like' jumping back in the top 10 at #1 in the first week of the year and eventually spending a massive 18 weeks in the top 10. In the tracking year only two songs spent more time there but once it left the top 10 it didn't have great longevity which just stops it from reaching the top 10 here. It was her second #1 following 'Lush Life' and spent two weeks at the top just as that did. What I love about this is the dance vibes, and after 'Ain't My Fault' it was great to have Zara go back into dance-pop. It's of course a song about sex and it doesn't hurt that she's very good looking. :kink: The song is so catchy though and even on a song like this she can show off how good her voice is. All these things just make her the best new pop star and it was great seeing this become a reasonably big chart smash in the UK, but not big enough to give us a proper video oops. Well hopefully she comes back soon this year as I'm excited for new material.
