I'm really enjoying this Dan!

I'm one of those people who wait until the final chart of the year!

But it's great that you're doing one now.

Also I like the HATE Chart of yours so far, I only disagree with you on "That's What I Like", but I understand your opinion.

But Stay is fantastic & I'll not hear otherwise!

Agreed on the rest though, the Zaylor track in particular is absolute dirge.

Lol It's Everyday Bro, I can't take that seriously enough to hate and even if I did it's far from the worst I've heard this year. I like it because others dislike it :P

#05 Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It

What the shit is this? Who told these guys they could rap? Honestly one of the cringiest "songs" I've ever had the misfortune of listening to once out of curiosity. I suggest they take their own advice, and leave it. The music industry that is. I'm sure we'll Never hear from them again anyways. Good riddance. Bye.

I just can't wait, I find by January people are ready to move on to the new year already so I like to get most of my EOY done in December.

Nah, it's my least fave dance track of the year. Can't stand it. Well the Jonas Blue remix makes it bearable actually.

Was a shame that Zaylor track ended up being big when initially it looked like it was going to severely underperform.

I know it's not really meant to be a serious song, but maybe if the person behind it wasn't such a twat I'd find more of the funny side..

Couldn’t agree more

I reckon You Don’t Know Me will be close to the EOY top (if not at the top, you don’t spend 22 weeks in the Top 10 for nothing ), accompanied by Symphony of course and maybe Lonely Together. DJ Licious to be top 10 too hopefully

Ooooh, this is super early!! Yay at EOY season kicking off already :cheer:

I like all of the songs so far in your hate chart though  The Jake Paul and Kem/Chris songs are ironically a lot of fun and I do admit to playing them more than once.

Stay is a genuinely good dance banger and is easily my favourite from your list so far so I'm glad it was your least disliked of the most hated

Most of Divide got very boring very quickly for me due to overexposure but I did enjoy it all a lot for a little while and I still like a fair few individual tracks - Galway Girl remains one of his best ever singles for me!! :o

Looking forward to more reveals :w00t:

It's certainly a contender, but Symphony spent 11 weeks at #1 which may be better than 22 weeks in the Top 10, we'll have to see. Lonely Together and DJ Licious could be top 10 contenders too.

Of course you like them  Hopefully you find something you can hate on shortly.

Well at least I don't hate Galway Girl as it is at least upbeat and different, but it's not really my thing. Didn't make my top 100 weekly chart (SOY and Castle did).

#04 Sam Hunt - Body Like A Back Road

Google search 'worst songs of 2017' and Sam Hunt has two entries in the top five. The top one 'Drinkin Too Much' I haven't heard and really don't want to if it is supposedly worse than this. Anyway thankfully this never crossed over to the UK (could've been a #1 contender from additional overexposure if it was) but I regularly watch US chart recaps where this was massive and so was exposed to bits of this annoying stupid song. This song is basically everything I hate about "bro country" (inb4 Riser tells me what type of country it really is), it's poorly written (body like a back road is meant to be a compliment, really?) and just annoying. I'm sure there's worse pop-country songs out there, but I haven't heard them.

Never heard of that song nor do I want to as "bro-country" is probably my least favourite genre in the history of recorded music...

#03 Harry Styles - Sign of the Times

I was really not looking forward to Harry Styles' inevitable solo era, especially as he seemed to have the most hype around his name out of all the ex-1D members. As I expected, the song he came out with was not to my liking, but to give credit to him, it wasn't in the way I expected it to be - at least he's not doing teen pop anymore. 'Sign' however is a chore to sit through at nearly six minutes long and even the radio version drags. I can't stand his voice and the song is just a poor imitation of older British rock songs. With it starting off as a piano ballad with his wailing voice it was never going to be my thing, and when the guitars and drums eventually do kick in it's just so limp and it keeps meandering like that for the whole song. Overall, it's more boring than it is outright awful, he could have done worse buuuuuut it's still really bad. Finally, we should all be thankful follow up single 'Kiwi' is doing nothing as that also sounded awful from his X-Factor performance of it.

Yeah, I think if I were to give any critique to Sign Of The Times it would be the length. I get that it’s supposed to sound like an Oasis song but it could have been cut down a smidge.

BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD IS COUNTRY AND I WILL NOT LET JORDAN SAY OTHERWISE. why did that become a huge hit and not House Party though :drama: at least that was manageable to get through

Since when did I say it wasn't? I'm not TheSnake

Let's not compare Harry Styles with Oasis tho. Oasis are musical legends, same can't be said about 1D. ;)

Preferably Sam Hunt just disappears off the face of the Billboard charts tbh, I've not heard one half-decent song from him. I'd have Florida Georgia Line over him and that says something.

actually I wouldn’t have FGL either, that’s partly the reason why I haven’t gotten into their collab with Hailee

#02 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do

I don't understand why she felt the need to release this piece of musical crap, which sounds half finished and obnoxious. Being one of the world's biggest and richest pop stars, she could have hired better writers, but I guess she really needed another controversy - and that she did get. In the past I've been able to get some enjoyment out of her songs even if I don't like her public persona but this era she seems to be deliberately rubbing it in everyone's faces. Again, this song is really lazily written and I am totally not buying Taylor's side to the story. It's another one of her 'revenge' songs but the whole tone of the song makes her out to be this unlikeable movie villain. The whole 'old Taylor is dead' thing is so cringe and it feels so forced. Once the album fizzles out as quickly in the charts as the single did, I'm sure she'll go back to inoffensive teen pop, or even go full Miley on us and do a country pop album. And I hope she does (the former), the likes of 'Shake It Off' and 'Style' are jams and it's sad to hear that's she's ditched that for.. whatever this is? There's barely even a melody in the chorus and the production is tacky. And did I mention the lyrics are awful?

THE HATE CHART

Before we get to the #1, here are some...

Dishonourable Mentions

5 After Midnight - Up In Here

We really don't need a Poundland JLS five years after they stopped being relevant. Thankfully this non-effort of a song missed the top 40 and we never heard of them again. And even if we did, we have Rak-Su now who are actually good.

DNCE feat. Nicki Minaj - Kissing Strangers

It's DUNCE. Were any of you expecting me to actually like this even with Nicki being on it? Another terrible song from them, thankfully it flopped.

Fall Out Boy - Young and Menace

What the shit is this? Seriously, what happened to this band? I suppose it's not as messy as 'American Beauty/American Psycho', which is why it misses my Top 10.

Frankie Grande - Queen

This gets a mention for being the worst BJSC entry of the year, and perhaps ever. Should probably be in my top 10 but I only really include songs that have made an actual chart and/or cultural impact, which thankfully this didn't.

Imagine Dragons - Believer

Such a grating chorus. No thank you.

Jacob Sartorius

I've not heard any of his new songs (yes he is still doing 'music'), but I feel like he deserves a mention for still being a thing... somehow.

James Arthur - Safe Inside / Can I Be Him

Can we send him back to 2012 now? Please?

Liam Payne - Strip That Down / Bedroom Floor

Oh what a shocker, a former 1D member releases crap music. STD (unfortunate acronym) in particular is just embarrassing. He doesn't have a millionth of the charisma of Justin Timberlake.

Machine Gun Kelly - Bad Things / At My Best

Boring and pointless rapper and the choruses of both songs are awful too.

Miley Cyrus - Younger Now

No wonder this was a massive flop, there really is nothing to it.

Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask

Yawn.

Rag'n'Bone Man - Human

Not really that bad of a song, but overplay really killed it.

Sam Smith - Pray

This is painful to listen to, and can we not at Sam Smith attempting gospel?

The Script - Rain

So so basic. Possibly a new low for them and that includes other lazily written songs they've done like 'Hall Of Fame'.

Train - Play That Song

Just when you think they've finally pissed off, they inexplicably get another hit (Heart FM airplay, I know). Poorly written and that sample just does not work.

~

And now finally... the moment some of you have been waiting for, some of you have been dreading, and maybe a few of you already knew from me spoiling it in the Hate Chart thread in the chart forum

:mansoncheer: #01 Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry :mansoncheer:

And the biggest musical turd of the year came from Demi Lovato, just as we thought she was getting better following her features on dance tracks she goes and releases this screechy mess. I thought it wasn't possible for her to get even more screechy than 'Heart Attack' but it happened. Her vocal in this is so off putting and unbearable, the lyrics and production don't help at all to redeem it either but seriously just for how annoying the song is it gets #1 here. I'd say it's as annoying as 'Look..' as a song the difference being that Taylor doesn't have a screechy voice like Demi. It's like the combined screechiness of ten Jessie J's. She really should be sorry she unleashed this upon us, but she probably isn't.

Let's take a moment to recap this year's hate chart

1 Demi Lovato - OMG SCREEEEEECH Sorry Not Sorry :puke:

2 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do

3 Harry Styles - Sign of the Times

4 Sam Hunt - Body Like A Back Road

5 Chris & Kem - Little Bit Leave It

6 Ed Sheeran - Various Album Tracks

7 Zayn & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (Fifty Shades Darker)

8 Bruno Mars - That's What I Like

9 Jake Paul feat. Team 10 - It's Everyday Bro

10 Zedd & Alessia Cara - Stay

And that's the hate over for this year. Come back next year when we will go through the whole thing again. Or preferably, stay tuned for the LERRRRVVV section of the EOY. I will be revealing my favourite TV show, Film and Album of the year over the next week, before we start the Singles rundown.

At least I agree with one track in your top ten. I don't hate Sign of the Times but I do dislike it and always skip it when I listen to the album. Dull and overlong is the best way to describe it. The rest of his music is really good though so far so that is more of an anomaly for me :o

Human is dreadful though, that would probably be my #1 in one of these so yay at it appearing in your honourable mentions :cheer:
