So f***ing wish the spice girls - cough Mel C cough - would get over their bullshit about not releasing unreleased tracks. Urgh... IMAGINE having something like that...

That would be amazing but yes Mel doesnt think the tracks should be heard.

Do we know if the Spiceworld era has unreleased tracks? We know Spice, Forever and the Greatest Hits all have tracks.

The studio version of Leader of the Gang would be nice but obviously is tarnished by the original.

If only we could have a release like that... they just don't seem to care. :(

I think Can't Stay Tonight would be a Spiceworld-era demo. Wasn't there a song called Dingeling that popped up on some publishing sites from that era? Even though it might have been considered for a Spice Up Your Life b-side at some point, I'm fairly sure Strong Enough is from the Spice recordings.

Anyway. Might be nice to hear a polished up version of Can't Stay Tonight that includes the whole group. I think we confirmed at one point that a group recording of it exists...rather than just the Mel C solo, though I haven't read about anyone hearing it. Might be an interesting listen. With the song's structure, I'm not sure how the group would sound on it.

I'm not terribly hopeful about Spiceworld-era extras, though. Whatever existed...they chose to release two singles without original songs as b-sides at all...and one single got Spice Invaders. So. Whatever was left can't be their best stuff...

Anyway. I've heard Mel C say loads of times that the unreleased stuff stayed unreleased for a reason. But here's her problem. Some of the other girls and their collaborators have spent too much time saying the opposite. It's just made fans hungrier for it for 20 years.

I mean. Biff called Feed Your Love one of his favorite recordings he did with them. He's also talked up his unused Forever-era tracks in the past...and both he and Eliot Kennedy have expressed disappointment about their material not getting used. Mel B's said they have loads of great unreleased songs. Emma talked up W.O.M.A.N. during recording...and later said she was disappointed it didn't make the album, and it wasn't her call. Victoria also said at one time she was disappointed the pop stuff went unreleased.

Then there's the matter of the four Eliot tracks from Forever that did leak. You might like em. You might not. But they are clearly worthy of some kind of release. Personally, I like the pop Right Back At Ya, Pain Proof, and Give You What You Want better than at least five tracks that did make Forever. Logic would dictate the Biff material's probably even better. He had the midas touch in the late 90s/early 2000s, and I doubt he was going to drop the ball for his biggest act.

So. I mean. They've kinda turned themselves into their own worst enemies in regards to unreleased fan stuff.

That said. I get why they wouldn't especially want Strong Enough out there...

I think there's a huge difference between rough demos and ones that basically need one last polishing up - the four Eliot tracks that leaked from the Forever sessions were clearly pretty much done, while some of the stuff that leaked when they were still Touch is clearly very rough and just a essentially a draft of the song.

The leaked Forever tracks sound unpolished to me. Like, A Day in Your LIfe sounds very incompleted and somewhat flat. And some of the lyrics are just clunky in a way that it doesnt ring very true at all from them. I think had they gone with them, a lot more work would have had to be made, including the girls doing some other vocals, adapted lyrics as well as production.

WOMAN is probably at a similar stage of development.

Their YouTube videos (all their music videos and the live videos) have had new thumbnails added to them that all match and have been designed really well. Some effort has gone into doing that.

I suspect that like the tidying up of their insta is hopefully that they have just postponed plans not cancelled anything because of coronavirus. We shall see.

I like the new thumbnails they are balanced without focus on one girls face (usually Victoria's)

Ooh that's an unexpected but great change! They really stand out now, better than the low quality screen shots from before. Some of them weren't too bad, but Say You'll Be There/Mama/Spice Up Your Life and Holler mainly focusing on one member wasn't great, neither was Too Much being a Spiceworld Movie moment.

For memories, here are the old ones:

I love that they all match now, hopefully it is a good sign more content is to come on the youtube channel.

Be nice if they had some content to upload soon and the thumbnails to it also matched in as well.

I will add last I heard of the SW19 footage that is filmed no matter what any of them might say now, they were discussing a YouTube release of it in some way.

They would do themselves a huge favour if they put just 2 or 3 of the songs from SW19 on youtube. It would garner big views and buzz and only help them sell tickets I'm sure if they did tour after coronavirus. There really isn't anything to lose by doing it.

Where did you hear this? First I heard of it.

Of course it would be nice to have at least some of the performances uploaded, since we're definitely not getting any of the full concerts from any tour any time soon. Really thought they would have done the whole of Istanbul, Spiceworld 98 and Christmas tours in full at least by now..

Spice Girls have updated their YouTube thumbnails 😍

Oh I TAKE IT BACK!!!

Full DVD (not full show) Istanbul Live on Official YouTube Channel

It says it is unlisted though  I definitely didnt know this was freely available on their channel!!!

I told Jay a month or more back they had discussed what to do with the footage and putting it on YouTube had been suggested.

The whole shows being up in one chunk is a bit pointless, the view count for Instanbul is so low for the whole show. Where as Wannabe live from Instanbul they uploaded last year has 1.5m views now.

Spice Girls have updated their YouTube thumbnails

cute

I like that their music videos all match now the new thumbnails are much better and I like the logo it makes them stand out.

Interestingly they have also done thumbnails for the individual Live In Istanbul videos!

Alot of effort has been put into their Youtube channel, does make me think something else must be in the pipeline for them to go through all this, when they were never bothered before.

I mean, online streams and views are probably the only stream of money that is coming into the group in the near future, unless they actually release anything this year, because they wont tour any time soon due to the corona virus pandemic.

So I would imagine that record companies are taking extra care to make their artists' pages across social media, YouTube and Spotify more presentable so that more people engage with them..

The Youtube cards seem to have gone down well though and their inclusion/updating meant that they will show up again on YouTube recommendations as they get a boost everytime they are edited.

So, whilst I would love for them to be preparing more releases or activity, I highly doubt it. Call me Sceptical Spice but we've been on this same road for over 20 years :teresa:
