Their Christmas #1s are like honorary Christmas songs for me - obviously they're not about Christmas, but nevertheless they evoke feelings of winter/Christmas time, by association of being released then. I enjoy playing the songs during the Christmas period.

East 17 (or their producers) were clever to make the Stay Another Day production sound Christmassy... it gets treated like a Christmas song because of it, even though it's technically no more of a Christmas song than the Spice Girls Xmas #1s. Stay Another Day has re-entered the UK Top 100 almost every year since 2008, and in the last couple of years it's even managed Top 40. :drama:

SAD also has a Christmas feel to the video.

I like the song. GA butchered this however !!

2 become 1 video is pretty Christmas like, big winter coats, winter evening, Victoria in front of an ice skating rink, a deer at the end.

A lovely new Melanie C interview - I feel like the most interesting aspects of it lean towards Spice Girls related things, so I'll post it here.

She seems quite adamant that whenever they next tour they must film it, so hopefully that'll end up being true. I wish Melanie and the others had felt that for the 2019 shows 🤭

I mean, sure. That has been promised before though, so I wont hold my breath.

That is an excellent interview though. Love that she has been showing a lot of love for Let Love Lead The Way recently, here again. Their forgotten #1 is a Spice classic and the GP should know!!!

Here we go again.... Personally this is a good sign to stay away from Spice Circle for a couple of days, as it usually the environment becomes really toxic there around these rumours so thanks for the warning :teresa:

I personally dont believe she will unless it is a cute one-off. And I wont miss her there either to be honest with you...

Yeah it's a load of easy nonsense to sell papers! I'd totally be up for it though, love me some Posh  but yes I think she would only do it for a cute one off or something like Glastonbury or another huge event if they were offered it. I'd imagine Glastonbury would be on the basis of all 5 for example.

Yes. One thing that may delay the resumption of live music and entertainment is event and tour organisers and promoters being denied insurance, because many insurers now will not include a pandemic as part of their cover.

Poor Tory Spice 😂

The fact that Vicky and Gerita are both tories is such a bad torn on their legacy -_- At least Vicky is a bit more liberal, as far as we know, whilst Geri is stuck in Victorian England times of colonialism and empire. Blargh

do we know for sure VB is a tory though? I wouldn't be surprised, sadly, but I don't think I've ever heard her speak about it. Geri on the other hand.. I love(d) her, but knowing she is a tory is quite hard to accept. I was already very disappointed with Emma congratulating Boris Johnson on the birth of his baby. So who knows what she votes as well.

I do think it's far to assume both Mel's are Labour supporters.

Yes. Both Vicky and Geri were torries. This had started with the interview they gave for The Spectator back in 1996. Just google it, I can't post a link since I'm a newbie. Geri was super vocal about her political views in that interview.

I do think Vicky seems to be more liberal these days tho. I don't know if that's a façade for her business but yeah.. I think it's safe to say that both Mel's are Labour supporters.

Im not sure that either Mel or Emma have ever stated their Labour supporting credentials, but Mel C has been very vocal about her disdain for the tories in the past, specifically Margaret Thatcher.

Emma congratulating Boris Johnson was more a business venture thing, as it was to promote her own brand of nappies. But who knows... that was quite the kick in the teeth too, to be honest.

Victoria was always anti-EU for instance, from her statements in the press in the 90s, BUT she did come out for Remain so I agree that she might be more liberal leaning nowadays. She certainly doesnt seem like a tory that stand for the horrible mess we have in Government now, thats for sure...

Yes indeed, I remember that interview! But I think VB has changed her views, at least when it comes to the EU, so it could well be she is a Labour supporter now as well. Who knows. Mel and Mel both said in that particular interview they don't vote, and I do think that has changed.

The fact that Geri supported Thatcher so much is beyond me though, especially considering a lot of her fame and fortune comes from her queer fanbase and Thatcher has always been horrible to the queer community, so it seems bizarre to speak fondly of her. But then again, which tory isn't a homophobe or racist.

There is this though... hmmmmm...

I'm actually gonna go with they're all Tories except Mel C.

Well I’m sure there are elements of conservative and liberal in most people (depending on the issue)

I’m sure Geri isn’t anti gay for example but I think whenever she spoke about Thatcher it was because she came from a working class background and became prime minister (this is when Geri talked about girl power etc and used the phrase ‘the original spice girl’) I guess she cherry picked certain aspects of Thatcherism.

In terms of politics it’s never really bothered me. They are five individuals who are in a music group who I love for their music and not for the political opinions.

I am also sure Geri herself is not anti gay, but if you support a homophobic government, and even vote for them, you are part of the problem and also cannot be seen as an ally to the queer community.

Just wow...

Given that she had suffered from systematic racism during the Spice Girls years... and of course it still goes on...

In her "Catch a Fire" autobiogprahy there's this line in the book that I still remember to this day. Victoria told her that she didn't see her as "colour"... Wtf is that? Obviously she felt so uncomfortable with that stament that she put into her book. It seems like she never had a problem with Geri tho.

Geri basically was queer in her debut era. I still believe that she's not anti-gay herself but she has become waay too white for my liking. I'm sure this has been discussed millions times before but I still believe that Geri is hiding her queerness somewhere in her ktchen

I was simply stating why Geri had referenced Thatcher and just because I don't care about the girls personal politics doesn't mean I'm supportive of the Tory government.

I don't like The Conservatives, Labour or the Lib Dems FYI.
