A couple more tweaks to the Youtube page yesterday, the 'live' playlist has the Olympics performance added and the link to the website in the about section has a SW25 little icon now.

These sorts of things feel like getting ready for something but knowing the girls it will be something with as little involvement as possible.

In relation to Goodbye, the way I've interpreted Geri's comments is that she didn't actually work on/contribute to the song...but she did hear an early version of it that Biff/Matt Rowe had worked up while she was still in the group. I've always thought the group was involved in different capacities on different songs. For example, some of the girls have been open about making more contributions to Too Much than 2 Become 1. I definitely don't know this, but I'm guessing Matt and Biff had an early version of the chorus, maybe? Like...maybe the melody was coming together...but the final lyrics would come later?

Actually, I always wondered if Geri's claim that she'd heard a version of the song before she left was meant as a dig at the other girls. Like she was uncovering that they weren't always involved in the creation of the songs from the ground up.

There have always been rumors that the five-piece started some album #3 work in early 1998, but I'm not sure I'm convinced of that. I can believe they spent some time in studio for something...but do we *really* know that was material for a SpiceWorld follow-up? Frankly, if they did some time in studio, it should have been to come up with b-sides for Stop and Viva Forever. I wouldn't trust the story from Canadian radio. There were a ton of rumors flying around at that time.

Kind of? It is well known that the girls recorded various points throughout August whilst on tour. We know they did the Blackstreet duet for instance, and that was scrapped, they recorded My Strongest Suit, and those things must have been planned before Geri left. Geri cites the group's move to a more R'n'B ground as one of the reasons for her departure from the band, so maybe they were already experimenting with new sounds by then. And they had started the process of recording and coming up with ideas, which is why Geri heard an early version of Goodbye before she left. She probably heard a couple of others too...

So yeah... maybe they didn't have a full vision for Album #3 in 1998 but they were starting the recording and experimenting process.

Which is why it would be amazing to know of any demos or unheard songs from that period. We need sammy01 to infiltrate Spice HQ and become the new intern who will every now and then leak some new stuff in the dark web :cheer:

It's interesting in one of their last interviews as a 5 piece they mention the 3rd album will have "solo" songs and duets. This is the blue print for a S Club 7 album. S Club 7 don't have very many songs where more than two members get solo parts. I've always thought that was a weird coincidence since S Club 7 was created by Simon Fuller.
Is it me or there is a bit of a palpable sense of anger and dissapointment in general in the fandom?... Every forum/thread/Facebook post includes a lot of criticism of them and their strategies at the moment.
I think the cracks are starting to show. Much of the fan base is fed up with being fed crumbs for the past 22 years.

Mel B just said they have a lot of moving parts they are trying to figure out.

In this interview, she mentions the documentary with archive footage (we knew this) and possibly new music with the girls. She also says they are hoping to work together, all five of them.

What do we think girlies? :teresa:

New music :o I'll take this with a pinch of salt :kink:

Regarding the court case, the Spice Girls “company/business” lost the legal battle through “misrepresentation” at the contract creation stage.

Aprilia wanted the girls to each represent a particular motorbike and were under contract to do so for the entirety of the SpiceWorld 98 tour. At the time of the contract discussions, there were plans to take the tour to Asia, Australia etc, all of which were to be under the Aprilia sponsorship.

When the girls signed on the dotted line, they misrepresented that the “Spice Girls business” was 5 girls until the completion of the tour because Geri had said she wanted out prior to this contract being formed. They were aware there was a possibility it might not be all 5 girls all the way through the tour - even if Geri said she originally wanted to wait until September.

It is important to note that obviously plans changed as the tour progressed because during the UK leg in April, they announced Wembley Stadium as the final dates of the tour. If Geri had left at the end of the tour in September, the contract would have been completed because they finished the tour as a full five. As such, Geri left in May and because the girls were aware of Geri’s plans to leave, they misrepresented the “business” in the contract under UK law.

It’s difficult to explain but you need to separate the Spice Girls as a group and as a business and then it makes more sense.

Thats an interesting detail thank you!

Mel Cs fashion sense wasn’t great that time with her hats x
No, but her and Emma kill that performance! Both sound stunning! They all do to be honest, even if Victoria struggles with her first couple of lines lol
It was a very good performance. How I wish they would give Viva Forever the same treatment on UK TV.

I actually kind of liked the top hat on Mel, it was something a bit different and a bit of gender bending, good on her.

They killed that performance but I was a little disappointed Victoria didn't do the high note at the end of her verse... although if she could have messed it up then perhaps it was for the best...

Anyone have a good spice girls album cover for unreleased music?

I’m not good with making any of those fancy album arts.

Okay. Am I crazy or was the “Megamix” not part of the greatest hits.

I thought it was released at the same time or

On a version of the album?

It was never officially released, I think? It only went out as a promo CD I believe. Totally should have been released back then, maybe as a bside to Headlines and included in the GH for sure
