Ahhhhhh you’re right. I mean, of course I was trying to be funny about something that is actually a serious matter for me. And yes, Mel B was there but that was more of a job. She didn’t post any celebratory image. Same for Melanie C when the Queen, Her Colonizer, died.

Not sure how much promo the Spice Girls did with TMF but there’s an upload from the Goodbye era:

I just feel like you’re picking and choosing who to be annoyed with, when really they’re all in the same boat? Melanie C had complimentary things to say about the royals in her book. Mel B taking on a role to be a part of the televised coverage and celebrations of the Coronation, enthusiastically, is more acceptable than throwback Instagram posts? She could have declined if she had strong anti feelings on the matter. From where I’m standing this action makes her pro-Monarchy, just expressed in a different way than the Instagram posting ladies of the group.

Don’t forget Mel B has her MBE title x

I just wish we ignored DancingQueen and their trolling posts it’s a shambles on this forum just saying x

Ok, Geri.

To be honest even Mel bloody C did a charity gig last winter for the king, or whatever. The whole band's ass licking the monarchy is such a stain in their legacy, urgh...

I stand in solidarity with dancingqueen. f*** the king and shame on the tories spices <_<

She’s also no Angel - in spite of her tattoo.

But I appreciate something about her, and knowing the folks of Sink the Pink, they confirmed what I knew: she listens and admits when she’s ignorant about something. That’s the ally I want. We don’t seek perfection.

On the other hand, I don’t see the same commitment from the others, but yes, who am I to judge.. at the end of the day, they were marketing and they’ll always be (buy our new hoodie!) - just like any other act does.. LGBTQ+ and minorities are a target audience for them.

(Read this laughing, I’m not mad, it’s just my point of you and I think that - even if this thread should be more about light topics, it’s ok to give also some visibility to important things- at the end of the day, the girls themselves are citizens who have an opinion and vote).

IN total agreement, although I'd say that maybe the reason why Emma is so quiet on these issues is to protect her youngest child from the violence being part of the LGBTQIA+ community brings in the UK/USA, specially towards young and trans women. So I get as to why Emma is somewhat publicly quiet about all of this. The level of vitriol that young LGBTQIA+ people are facing online and from the UK Gov is disgusting, I have seen it and friends have been at the receiving end of it all in brutal ways.

As for the monarchy, I think the girls come from a line of thinking and generation that somewhat venerates the monarchy. They always wanted power and money, and nothing is more symbolic of that than the UK monarchy, so it makes sense. Just a shame that most of them are not so politically engaged (and I mean ENGAGED, as in educated and participating on it cos we know how Gerita participates in politics but f*** knows if she is aware of what being a Tory means...). For a group that was always advocating for minority and women's rights, they are bafflingly pro-corruption and discrimination politics, even if they don't realise that.

Mel C does listen at least, but I don't think even she can be seen as 'anti-monarchy' or whatever. She is proud of her past with the monarchy, even from the fact that the whole of last year she kept talking about them in interviews and in her book too.

I'd say that the only reason as to why they did NOT participate in the show last weekend was because their publicist alerted them to it not being a good event to align themselves to in the public eye, even if most of them wanted to go. From what we've seen, most of them would have been perfectly happy to do it if they could.

Here's another!

At 3:03 I don't really understand what Geri says, they all laugh at it but then she says it again and Emma gets irritated and it's awkward?? Don't think Victoria was impressed with Mel B interrupting her (starting from 3:36). Maybe they were getting on each other's nerves on that day?

There's a new one, from the same day of the previous interview and they seem much more upbeat and in tune with each other. Victoria's joke about 'script movie drama' is hilarious :teresa:  God I miss them...

And another one just been uploaded :teresa: This is from just after Wannabe was released and they did an accapela of One of These Girls again

So maybe One of These Girls was definitely in contention for the album then, and it was used in these little appereances so as to get them to provide some strong vocals?! Personally I am happy the song never made it to the album as I find it too cringe, only worthy of b-side status B-)

I don't think it was a contender, the album tracklist was confirmed by August as you can see in this video:

Also I think the album in Japan was out months in advance.

Super random observation...but it appears they were referring to 2 Become 1 as "Two Become One" on this early version of the cassette.
