What Mel C had was a new management and A&R team that took her to the next level production and sound wise. Writing and singing wise, she is still pretty much at the same level she was before, just with a better team. She was doing the same middle of the road stuff for 20 years and by her own admission, she was 'stuck'.

 

I agree that she was wise to switch it up and it is frustrating that she wouldnt think the same about the group. It strikes me she is one of those that says 'LEGACY LEGACY LEGACY!!! You cant replicate the success we had with the 90s sound so lets not bother to swap' which is so short sighted.... if Holler and Headlines didnt tarnish their legacy, new music wont either...

 

BUT to be fair to her, she did change her tune about unreleased music such as C U Next Tuesday and others, so who knows....

 

Especially when they have 90s hits ready to go anyway!! Pain Proof Woman, etc, just polish them up, maybe get some Calvin remixes, get a Doja Cat or Ariana or Adele.feature etc...

Honestly I will always love the band and the girls but i’m just over it all now tbh. I hold no hope for them to do anything worthwhile in the future, their comebacks have been half arsed and money grabs and seems to be no real effort to keep their legacy alive! I could name so many smaller bands and acts that have put time and passion into comebacks and things unlike them.

 

Also even if Geri did come back I just fear she’d be even more awkward than she was on the 2019 tour and that was bad enough, she just seemed so embarrassed to even be there and we all know Victoria is well over it.

Vut to Geri then twirling around in a white dress, and you can see her basicakly cringing with embarrassment at every turn. She pit on a super fake accent and a super fake wannane-posh persona. She didnt look embarrassed, she just looked like someone who hadnt performed live in a long time (which is true).

The others are performers, Geri has never been one, by her own admission! She was always messy when it comes to live performances.

 

Now, please be ware that Geri in 2019 is a different person than she was in say 1997, BUT consider this: Gerita has always been an awkward performer in a live setting. She never had any rhythm to be able to pick up choreography properly.

 

People keep comparing her to 1997 PROFESSIONALLY EDITED footage of like Istanbul or Spiceworld 1998 which is wrong to do, because those are EDITED videos that are meant to make her look good. They will pick up the best 'shots' and the awkwardness of her performance skills is less visible.

 

Fan cam footage isnt going to do that! In fact, much to the opposite, it will exarcebate her awkwardness and lay it bare. Now, with age and much less energy (and without much intention to be good either, since she doesnt like it) it will only look more awkward.

 

Trust me, people would be saying VERY different thigs about Geri if both the Return and the 2019 tours were released professionally because only the best shots would be chosen not some random fans' cam footage. The best shots would be picked and edited into the footage, and the live vocals would be 'polished' (i.e. dubbed!).

 

Every artist does this. Madonna even films stuff post tour against greenscreens to edit some flashy/fierce footage into the shows' documentation. Geri would never be ocnsidered the best live performer but with professional footage people wouldnt be slagging her off so much, that's for sure!

Geri would be fine touring again, as Mr X says it is only noticable she is stiff because we can all look far too closely at fans footage now. Geri seems much worse in the fan footage on Youtube than live in person on my night as you cant see every little detail.

 

Geri's issue is she still thinks she is going to be A-list and at the top of something solo wise and it just wont happen but she will put everything on hold and delay a reunion in hope it will.

Then she put the band on hold when she thought she was going to be a massive Youtube star with Rainbow Woman (I still don't get that name). She copyrighted the name for books, music and so on and gave up caring half way through when it is clear she wasn't going to be a big Youtube star.

 

Now she is convinced she can be a big name author and Spice Girls are on hold as she delusionally goes about it. It wont end in being a movie, the book will be yesterdays news a couple of weeks after release. Mark my words by Jan Geri will be pushing for Spice Girls again when she is lost with nothing to feed her ego that she will be massive on her own again.

 

The other 3 are happy that their solo careers make some money keep them busy but absolutely know non of it will ever be big anymore. It can be picked up and dropped whenever because those solo careers are what they are.
