Completely agree. I know it's their prerogative to decide that old demos aren't good enough and to block commercial releases, but as a fan it's a shame because it would be very interesting to hear them, and something new to buy. Tbh I think it would actually add something positive to their "legacy", more so than risk damaging it.

The success and fame they achieved, particularly in 1996-1998, will always be incredibly remarkable and it's not something that can be undone and tainted by subsequent commercial under-performances. Even though Forever was a major decline for them at the time of release and resulted in them essentially fizzling out, it didn't harm them in the long run (if anything Forever has settled as being a bit of a footnote in their career). Headlines reaching #11 didn't harm them. Their musical was a critically panned disaster, but despite that their legacy remained intact - which is why I feel that their (supposedly) upcoming animation movie is unlikely to harm their legacy, even if ends up being as badly received as the musical was.

Although I enjoyed the Walkers Crisps adverts from last year, nevertheless I do think it's a shame that they felt more motivated to do that than to consider releasing music, old or new.

They veto releases all the time, Universal hold the rights to their catalogue and you can bet they would love to milk it. Ultimately the girls have the final say on releases though. It is one of the downsides to Simon negotiating them a great contract at the beginning of their career, very few artists have the cut of royalties and control as the girls do over their music but then very few go to a label with a powerful manager to get them a contract.

One of the downsides? I think it's pretty incredible they, as a manufactured pop group, could sign such a contract and they have so much control over their own music, exactly how it should be. They have worked incredibly hard, wrote (most of their) own material and now still earn quite a lot of money from their old material and can decide if they ever want any of their unreleased stuff out there. Fair enough for them for not wanting this, as fans we should respect this decision and it's only their call to make. Just lilke with the tour, they don't own us anything. They make their decisions about their own work, how it should be.

And I can understand why they did the Walkers campaign instead of releasing music. First because it was very nostalgic, as they worked with Walkers during their heyday, and secondly it's a lot of easy money to make for a few hours work. Who can blame them!?

But they toured as a 4 piece without Victoria and if as I suspect it is Victoria who wont sign off on unreleased material getting a release then the other 4 are being held to ransom.

It is what it is with them, we know they are never gonna release the dvds and unreleased music I've just became accustomed to being let down from them. I understand its up to them to put out what they want but they could easily do a live cd/dvd and a few b-sides and new songs but they clearly just don't want to do it.

I don't think it is just Victoria as Geri blocked a re-release of Schizophonic and also blocked a Greatest Hits release from her record label when they offered it. Melanie C has spoken out many times about not wanting to release more music and said that the old music is unreleased for a reason. Emma and Mel B are likely up for anything bless them!

Amazon have 22% of tshirts from today till the 28th June sold directly from Amazon which includes the Spice Girls tshirts sold on there through their official Amazon store.

They have the 5 individual tshirts, Spice logo tshirt and a few more. I ordered a black Spice logo tshirt and it worked out at £14.03 including free postage absolute bargain when they are £25 on the their webstore and that has shipping added on top.

Link below is to the Emma individual tshirt, you can click the Spice Girls Official link at the top to see the other tshirts. The 22% doesn't come off till you checkout.

I find it weird that the t shirts on Amazon offer a choice between men, women and kids sizes, whereas the official store states that they’re unisex t shirts & there’s no kids option. Why the differences?

Are we certain that the Amazon & official Spice Girls store are affiliated with each other? The Amazon page does appear official, I just find it odd that there’s such differences (not to mention the disparity in prices & what is available overall on Amazon vs official Spice store).

Amazon print the tshirts themselves, they have much more scope to offer more colours, sizes etc. Someone on Spice Circle had a set of the 5 individual tshirts 1 set from the webstore 1 from Amazon. The Amazon set is slightly darker print and looks slightly better quality.

If you order a tshirt from their official store on Amazon it takes 4 days to arrive even being a prime product as it is not already printed so will be printed specifically to your order. Where as the webstore has certain set quantities of each tshirt already printed hence why certain sizes sell out but they never do on Amazon.

I'm sure Amazon have thousands of designs, not just Spice Girls ones, that they print and sell for official stores that sell through their website so the basic tshirts before printing will be dirt cheap as they are acquiring them in mass bulk and only printing a tshirt as an order comes through means no tshirts are sat printed and unsold. So there is absolutely no money wasted anywhere through the ones produced by Amazon.

It is exactly the same as the Little miss spice girls tshirts officially sold through Amazon, which also have 22% off this week btw.

I'm assuming artists/companies are happy to sell through Amazon and make slightly less profit than their own official webstore as there is no chance of wasting money printing tshirts that don't sell or any outlay of money at all. The Spice Girls management will say just get £8 for each tshirt sold and Amazon do everything else. It is a great business model for both tbh.

Though the webstore wont want everything sold on Amazon or it would give people no reason to purchase their higher mark up clothes off their own webstore so I'm assuming just offer Amazon a limited range of tshirts.

I see! Thanks for explaining

I'd prefer a t shirt with the Spiceworld logo on rather than Spice, if I was to get one, the problem is is that the official store currently only has 2XL and I'm L

The Glastonbury 2021 rumours have begun again.

Glasto Article

I know it's in The Sun newspaper but

1. It would be the only type of performance where Victoria would possible join them

2. Summer 2021 will be their 25th anniversary

At the current rate of the UK handling of the corona crisis, I am not confident that events like Glasto will go on in 2021 tbh

I think they shouldnt do the legends slot. They can totally pull off - and deserve to - the main stage. The 'legends' slot is for acts that are as iconic but no longer as popular as they wouldnt fill the main slot. HOWEVER, I think the Spice Girls could totally do it, specially after last year's tour!

There was a quote today by Melanie C about the possibility of new music.

Asked about the possibility of new music from the iconic girl band, she said: "We have such an incredible back catalogue and people love our music; we don't want to produce anything that's not of the standard of our other work.

"We talk about it tentatively and we're like, 'You know what? We're not gonna force the issue on that one.' We'd rather it happen organically."

Not sure what to make of that.

I disagree, Kylie did the legends slot last year and she is far more currently popular than the girls on the music scene plus she is an active recording artists while the Spice Girls as a group (and many solo) are not. The legends slot is often the event that gets the most headlines too and you have to be pretty legendary to be offered it so I think it would be fabulous for the girls to do the legends slot! I would love to know what they were offered last time and why on earth they turned it down?!?! The fact they turned it down makes me think they will never be offered it again...

No way they can match those two albums. Let the pressure go already.

No, she isn't. When was the last time she played a stadium? :arrr:

There's stories leaking on the sun now saying the group are in talks for a final 25th anniversary world tour for 2021 and they've even quoted 'a close source to Mel C'

Why have all these stories been coming out today?

I don't wanna get my hopes up

Even mentioned in the article about 'a film of their year' i.e. The Behind the scenes of the tour, not the animation.

She is in that she is still releasing music and out charting any of the solo girls easily...
