I would rather them use those 2 or 3 months to record a new album than make a unnecessary sequel. A sequel would be too much of a financial risk. Shooting a movie is not cheap.

They would never fund it themselves, it would have a studio or streaming service paying costs.

I mean it isn't going to happen but it's a nice idea and they could definitely get backing but I don't see it happening.

I know that. I don't see a movie studio or production company investing millions to make a Spice World 2. Spice World's production budget was 25 million dollars. With inflation that would now be around 40 million.

Beyoncé Told Victoria Beckham the Spice Girls Inspired Her Career

Girl power inspired ladies around the world, including Beyoncé! Victoria Beckham recalled meeting Queen Bey and talking about the Spice Girls.

"I met Beyoncé a few years ago, and she actually said to me, 'It was the Spice Girls that inspired me and made me want to do what I do and made me proud to be a girl and proud to be who I am,'" the 47-year-old fashion designer, who was Posh Spice in the girl group, shared on Dear Media's Breaking Beauty podcast. "And when someone like Beyoncé, who is so iconic and was such a strong woman, says that she was inspired by the Spice Girls, I think that's quite something."

Beckham rose to fame as Posh Spice in the girl group, setting major '90s trends with her fashion-forward alter ego.

"I don't look at anything and cringe," the famed designer insisted of her past styles. "I look at us all, and it makes me smile because we didn't care. Whether it was fashion or beauty, we didn't care. We wore what made us feel good. We weren't worried is this the newest, coolest? We set trends because there was no fear."

One trend Beckham wasn't in on was the thick platform boots, but she still benefited from the look. Her bandmates Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Melanie Chisholm's styles helped fund her own.

"It worked for me the fact the girls wore those shoes because they used to get sent them for free because they were not that expensive, so therefore there was a little more budget left over for me to have those Tom Ford, Gucci spike-heeled stilettos that Posh used to trotter around in," she quipped.

:w00t:

Also, Vicky is seemingly on fire lately. She also threw shade at rumours of a new Spice World movie :unsure:

She shared a Dazed article on her instagram stories and asked 'Has somebody got something to tell me?' with some emojis.

Sorry to be annoying (I didn't know where to post this) does anyone know when we will get updated sales for the girls and their solo material? Thankuuuu

No idea unfortunately :( I don't think source who let us know some updated totals last year is able to give us an update anymore, unfortunately. Otherwise we'll have to hope that Official Charts Company feel like giving us some new data in July, for Wannabe's 25th anniversary.

http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=203971 - honestly most of the solo totals are unlikely to increase by significant amounts, bar a few exceptions like When You're Gone.

"Now I did read this week that apparently Spiceworld The Movie 2 is coming our way *Gasp* I got very excited - it's the first I've heard of it - but that would be nice, wouldn't it? I promise I will let you know if anything's happening"

Lol such a positive sounding denial, typical of Emma :cool:

Imagine if a 25th anniversary edition of Spice looked like the One Touch anniversary edition that Sugababes are putting out?

Aahahahaha, j/k we can't have nice things

RIGHT?!?!?!

We will get a new slip cover and nothing new :cry:

I'm keeping my expectations low re: Spice, but yes... if they were sensible, they should definitely look at the One Touch re-release to see how it really should be done. It's clearly what fans want from Spice Girls (Sugababes fans are ecstatic about the One Touch track-listing!).

If there is a Spice re-issue... I can actually see One Touch selling better, which is kind of amusing. Maybe I'll end up eating my words, but honestly, if Spice Girls don't go all in to the extent that Sugababes have, then they wouldn't deserve to sell more tbh.

Totally agree. In an era where acts like Taylor Swift are going back to their vaults to do proper celebration releases, they have no excuse. Anything less than rare material is pointless and many wont buy it any longer - and that is totally fair.

They have to do some surprises, new mixes, rare stuff. Otherwise they really shouldnt bother...

If there was a Spice World 2 movie I'd get the writers from the Girls5Eva series; it's more based on the likes of Dream but it's full of late 90s/early 00s nostalgia.

Little Mix won Best British Group at the Brits :heart: - the first ever female act to win this award - and shouted out / dedicated the award to girl groups, including Spice Girls. :wub: It was a great speech!

Full speech:

@1392402111552499713

Girl band shout out part of the speech:

@1392223133738979329

@1392201503453106180

@1392424712505020416

Respect to them for acknowledging previous girl group nominees.

I bang on about it but I remember thinking if a girl group like the SG can't get nominated in 1998 after a year like 1997 what hope is there for a female group in winning the award?

It's taken a long time for it to happen.

Brits were pretty shady to them overall. Viva Forever or Goodbye not getting a nom for best single in 1999... 🤯

Their history with the Brits is so complicated!

At one end, they are the most iconic representation of the Brits, the biggest girlband there still to this day and they got FIVE awards which is amazing. Including special awards like the Album sales award in 1998, the Outstanding Achivement Award in 2000 and then the Best Performance for their iconic one. Then two awards for Best Single and Best Video.

In 1997 they had FOUR nominations, in all big categories including Best Group but not on Best Album. They won the awards that are voted for by public and missed out on the Group and Best New Act which are voted by members of the academy.

In 1998 they only got ONE nomination, for Best Video for Spice Up Your Life. They had some of the best singles and albums of the previous 18 months but not even a proper nomination. This was a poor showing and they compensated it with that award. Then nothing after that and when it looked like their light was starting to fade in 2000, they got given the Outstanding Achivement Award which was rebranded from the Lifetime Achievement Award.

All amazing, but the serious lack of 'proper' nominations in 1998 and 1999 in particular were very jarring. Almost akin to a boycott, in my opinion.

In what WORLD was Spiceworld not nominated for Best Album or at least the girls not nominated for BEST GROUP in 1998?!?!? Outrageous!

Goodbye and Viva Forever not getting love in 1999? HELLO!! And whilst it was over for the group by then, I think Holler could have been in contention for a Best Single nod in 2001 but the industry really was against them at the time so....

So it's weird. They got to 5 awards with 3 special ones. Recognising their impact, but still not so supportive of their craft.

I do wonder if their turn of events had to do with Simon Fuller being fired... They had big backlash and lost a lot of support after that, and there was this general attitude that they were already on the way out. So maybe that had an impact?

It's crazy though how mistreated they were on some aspects whilst celebrated on others... Good on them though. 5 awards is the best for a girlband and that is a hard one to beat.

ANYWAY I love Little Mix and got all emotional for them. Good on them, it is so well deserved :wub:

And that speech was so classy :cheer:

You’ve hit the nail on the head.

The biggest music act, not only in the UK, but in the world in 1997 gets snubbed at the BRITs in 1998. They basically got snubbed in 1998/1999 for albums, singles and video nominations bar SUYL. It baffles me because even though Geri had left by May 98 they had an incredible 96-98 and for the BRITs to not properly acknowledge them in 1998/99 is astonishing.

In the last ten years when someone like Adele or Dua Lipa has a big year they get nominated in every major category.

So many fan bases also complain about their favourite artists and groups not winning awards and I think to myself imagine being a Spice Girls fan in the late 90s because they deserved so much more.

Preaaach Mr.X and Spice Girls Net :wub:

Spice being snubbed was a shame, given how it went onto become the best selling girl group of all time, in fact one of the best selling albums of all time period... but at least they got some other incredible nominations. 1998 Brits though... not getting noms for best group, best album or best single was a huge and seemingly deliberate snub. I remember at the time that the award they was regarded by some like it was a consolation prize.

Geri sent flowers to Perrie congratulating her and thanking her for the shout out. Love to see this support :wub:
