Paloma's signature vocals shines yet again on this delicate ballad, 'Guilty' sits in 65th with ANOTHER song from Lorde at 64, this time being 'Homemade Dynamite'. At 63 we see Clean Bandit once again on the countdown, this is their 3rd of 4 entries... 'Disconnect' a very underrated track of theirs that was released after two years of demanding from fans. The song features vocals from Marina Diamandis better known by her stage name Marina & The Diamonds!

3rd single from Reputation... 'Gorgeous' comes up at 62, expecting this one to be a hit of some form in the new year and wrapping this section up we have Little Mix jumping on the latin trend as well as 'Reggaeton Lento' already being CNCO's own hit in the first place got upgraded with style *.* the girls sound flawless on this one!

Robin Schulz & Cheat Codes shed some light at 60, Pink wants to play with 'Barbies' (59) & MK wishes he was '17' (57) whilst sitting at 58 we have another BJSC entry and strangely this was entered when I had a month off, Gooddelta whipped out this turkish dance phenomenon which secured them another to add to the many top 10 smashes they've had in their 10 year run since the contests birth. I did listen to some songs that made the final though but this was one I heard already because Rich messaged me on Facebook linking me his potential which happened to be this :kink: THUMBS UP!!

Onto another BJSC entry or two with Betsy's 'Waiting' which was sent by Michael in BJSC100 & Jadeds 'In The Morning' was another of Sam's winners back in March... we also have one of my favourites from this year that I actually gave 18 points to and that was The Knocks 'Classic', originally from 2014 but as per the rules of being sent this year is again exception and I'm pleased that that's so as this is a TUNE :music:

Sliding over from being released at the end of last year we have The Weeknd's extremely Michael Jackson soundalike track 'I Feel It Coming', you can actually believe the ghost of MJ has been injected in this track, funky, groovy, slick... easily my favourite of his now with 'Can't Feel My Face' and 'Starboy' also being super too!

Last two here come from Little Mix's 'Touch' which like The Weeknd was released late last year but was still dominating the charts throughout January & February, this easily trumps 'Power' and 'Shout Out To my Ex' personally. Pink's back very soon with her Eminem collab , 'Revenge' just misses out on the grand 50!

So we're now into the top 50 and at 50 we have Linkin Park with the very poignant 'One More Light' released as the second single after July's heartbreaking news to feature arguably one of the best vocalists in rock.. Chester Bennington. There will more on that later on when they appear again!

Next up we have Joseph's BJSC entry from January that came top 20 for Bellamia, now you might wonder why I like this so much, partly because I discovered it before it was sent, I did link Joseph this song not to suggest as a potential for him as that'd be breaking the BJSC rules but just under normal interest and discussion as when I heard it, it immediately reminded me of Justin Bieber who I know Joseph adores.. I wasn't particularly going to send this as I had CRIM3S at the time along with Markus Schulz but it was in my potentials list. At 48 we have a band who have been sent to BJSC years ago... Claire with their January release 'End up Here', another potential for me that I considered for February which bring us to the song that I ended up sending to the contest that month, 'Fantasy' by Prince Rama. There's a reason I haven't linked the official video as it might gross some people out, it's quite sadistic which may have been one of the reason it flopped so bad, crashing out at 29th in the semi's!

'Skin' was the follow up to Rag 'N' Bone Man's huge selling album Human named after the song which impacted the chart round Christmas and New Year. Rag is from Brighton which I visit quite often having a sister living there atm so go local musicians!!

Perhaps a surpisingly high placing for the next act as Tom Walker's 'Leave A Light On' comes charging in at 45. I say this because it's only just started getting talked about in the past 3 or 4 weeks, however for me I first heard this on New Music Friday back in it's premier week and thought this was an extremely touching song, lovely indeed.. infact his voice has been compared to Mr Rag N Bone Man himself!

Getting close to the top 40 and Katy shows up with her dancefloor bop 'Swish Swish' which took some time admittedly for me to get into but I really like it now, Katy has one more song on the way. 43 we have new urban popstar Stefflon Don who makes two appearances in the top half of my chart... her breakthrough single 'Hurtin Me' sits just 3 spots outside, whilst at 42 for obvious reasons.. originally released in 2015 and making my weekly chart at 36 for a couple of weeks before sliding out, we have Ariana Grande's 'One Last Time', certainly a tearjerker now when zoning in on the lyrics after the awful incident at one of her concerts earlier in the year!

Finally just missing out at 41 is Coldplay & Chainsmokers collab 'Something Just Like This'!

Amongst this bunch we have Arilena Ara with 'Nentori' at 40 with DJ Khaled & Rihanna's steamy 'Wild Thoughts' at 39, 38 sees Martin Solveig team up with Ina Wroldsen on 'Places', London Grammar's dreamy and pure yet enchanting 'Oh Woman Oh Man' at 37 and Alma's 'Chasing Highs' sitting in 36th which was a big top 20 hit in the summer!

35 we see the last appearance of Ed Sheeran (buzzjack collectively grumbles) with 'Castle On The Hill', my personal favorite and I would say is very Snow Patrol sounding, Jax Jones makes his first pop in with help from Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don on 'Instruction which takes the 34th seat on the countdown.. Disciples infectious 'On My Mind' sleighs in at 33 whilst former Summericia representitives IGNEA are back with the stomper of a song that is 'Petrichor'. It's interesting to note that this is higher than 'Alga' which made 39 last year however that was based on chart runs mainly and would otherwise be at least a top 15 placing otherwise so I do still like 'Alga' more but this one isn't far off actually! Missing out on top 30 we have Neneh Cherry's daughter Mabel with her slick R n b smash 'Finders Keepers'!

top 30 coming your way tommorow... inside it we have

2 x Taylor

2 x Pink

2 x Dua Lipa

4 x UK Number 1's

5 x Summericia entries (with Caramel, Illusion & Ameno excempt due to the rule of REALLY OLD songs or BJSC entries being sent outside of this decade)

I think that's it!

Instruction is so good, although the video is pretty bad/strange (and Demi's dancing... omg haha)

Castle On The Hill!! Awesome song :funky:

Swish Swish awesome :cheer:

On My Mind  Delighted they got themselves a second hit! (well third if you count Calvin :P )

Places was amazing as well, shame the ALMA collab never took off :(

replies (pretty rubbish with responding lol)...

re: Bridgecow - I think 'Get It Right' should be a hit next year, it's just got added to R1's playlist & I know Scott is a big fan of it!

re: Pete - Completely forgot they featured on a Calvin track, oops :kink:

re: Dan - That's understandable regarding 'Disconnect', it took me a few listens to properly get into it tho, although I did like it to start with.

re: seltinpixle - thanks :D

just compling a few sections, commentary covering top 30 upwards to 16!

At 30 we have the return of Taylor Swift who claims the 'old Taylor is DEAD', well she sure makes a statement with this halloween themed video and yes its another song about a relationship... whilst I do enjoy this, unfortunetly I do have to say I don't love it enough especially against some mammoth song that remain enough to put higher. That's including one of Taylor's other single still to come. This of course did finally give her an overdue UK #1 hit however at what cost? 4 weeks top 10 :o

'Havana' by Camilla Cabello would have been a little lower had I not really got into it in the past month or so helped by finally seeing the video and also her performance at the teen awards which definitely made it click with me much further. I say this as I liked it from first listen but I didn't get the overboard fuss about it from everyone else even if I do think it's wayyyy better than CITC ever was.

in the next few we see BJSC entry of mine 'Bad Like You' which snatched a somewhat shock top 30 smash for Summericia in April along with BJSC 96 top 3 smash for Terra Avium (Chez Wombat), the hauntingly stunning 'Pariah' from Steven Wilson and a lady called Ninet Tayeb. Steven I only just came to realise is the lead singer of the band Porcupine Tree who when I was at Uni studying music and singing, did two of their tracks in my second year of the diploma course.. 'Halo' and I can't remember the other one :kink: (there was too words to sing to it anyway~)

'Whatever It Takes' is perhaps my favourite of Imagine Dragons after 'Demons', it was used as a theme tune to a WWE PPV im July and was announced as the 3rd single in September but sadly didn't dent the top 40 here when only 'Thunder' did. Lady GaGa's one release this year 'The Cure' lands at 25 whilst Katy Perry's comeback single 'Chained To The Rhythm' is at 24.

A very deep and personal song next in 23rd is Logic's '1-800', featuring vocals from Alessia Cara & up and comer Khalid... the lyrics and performances to this really hit home with a very real problem. It's unlike me to really catch on to anything related to this genre in such a way but the fact that it's so personal and is a everyday reality makes it that much more relevant and relate able!

Zayn's best SONG EVER for me (sorry couldn't resist :kink: ) 'Dusk Till Dawn' which Sia joins him on is number 22 with my recent BJSC entrant Dark Sarah's cinematic Beauty and the Beast/Phantom of the Opera flop coming in at 21!

Now we move onto the top 20 and at 20 we have Dua Lipa with 'Be The One', this song first came out as Dua's very first release in 2015 and had hype at the start but nothing came through, until Dua's name became big after a couple of failed efforts to break her through... it got a re-release earlier this year and went top 10. One of her best for me. 19 is yet again another personal song, to Kesha that is... with all her documented difficulties with said manager who I won't name it's clear she wanted to release song about her freedom from the ordeal and expose her emotions to the world. I was taken a back by just how powerful her voice was & that she really could sing... I was one person who never sought out any evidence of her singing outside of her earliest hit so forgive me for that!

18 sees the return or shall I say SOLO DEBUT of the other half of Oasis, whilst Noel is doing his own thing with his band.. Liam decided to release his first solo track (hard to believe he never has before this year) outside of Oasis's breakup and Beady Eye stuff, to my surprise it was basically something very much alike to Oasis's stuff and a really excellent song on it's own merit. 'Wall Of Glass' certainly smashed it down for me!

Two more tonight and at 17 is the one appearance from Shawn Mendes who was so dominant in my EOY last year, some are saying this is his best single to date... I would certainly say it's up with his best. 'There No Holdin Him Back' from reaching top 20 in my best of 2017 songs!

Dorothy's 'Dark Night's reminds me of one of those vintage rock tracks from 30 or 40 odd years ago but brought up to date a little bit, the lead singers voice is so powerful and has that edge I like, sadly it didn't qualify but I still hold it in high regard and am pleased I sent it as I love it lots. P.S. sorry if I creeped people out with the video which consists solely of her eating Nutella for 2 minutes straight

Top 15 coming tommorow hopefully, any guesses as to who it could be? ;o

On July 20th we heard the unfortunate news that lead singer Chester Bennington had passed on and it was on the same evening that the band uploaded what would be the next single off their newest album. 'Talking To Myself' as a song itself speaks volumes to me as I often talking my problems through too and again it was very clear now that Chester was dealing with a lot of demons in his life. I was very fortunate to see Linkin Park live at the o2 in November 2014, some of you may remember when my weekly chart was going in force that a lot of their songs entered my chart with Numb going straight in at #1 based off the gig (then plummeting to 24 the next week). Witnessing them live was amazing, they had tons of energy and it was cool seeing so many songs get put into a 10 minute mix. Something really unusual about this was that I hadn't owned their huge album Hybrid Theory until my 25th birthday (this past June) as I just realised I haven't got one of their earliest albums... only Minutes to Midnight. With all in perspective I certainly felt extremely numbed by the news and was shocked by how young he was. The fact that it happened just weeks after I received and played Hybrid Theory was a very beculiar and sad coincidence at the same time. It feels really weird listening to their songs now... I FEEL SO NUMB about all this. Anyway enough of the rabbiting lol Linkin Par's 'Talking To Myself' is in 15th place, the highest any of LP's song have got in any of my EOY's since 2007!

At 14 we have the soulful JP Cooper who we all know featured on that massive Jonas blue track last year. So many of you were putting this in predictions to only just scrape top 40 officially and peak there so I was pleasantly surprised that 'September Song' actually took right off in the new year and became a top 10 hit. It's a wonderful song so I'm glad it did as well as it had, the song did well for me at the end of last year too having made my final #1 on the Rob S's Smash Hits Chart. The fact that it was doing well for me within the last month or two slightly hinders it's chance of finishing top 5 if it were to have been released within a whole calender year!
