December 30, 20177 yr Author 13 aatr_2MstrI 12 WH9C6oLEtOg 11 er416Ad3R1g working my way toward the top 10 now and in 13th we have the last offering from both Clean Bandit & Zara Larrson with their huge number 1 (although not like Rather Be or Rockabye were) 'Symphony' whilst the addictive and catchy 'You Don't Know Me' from Jax Jones and Raye finishes 12th, this was the first song of Raye's that I liked although YDKM did take a couple of listens to click with me but it did when (as a commercial that I am) it starting taking off in the new year along with September & Call On Me... I weirdly group those three together as they all took off and entered the top 10 official chart along with Ed's 2 first new singles at the time causing the rare occurence of 5 new entries to the top 10 in the chart, when the last time it happened was the week the official chart moved to Friday in July 2015 :o The unlucky 11th strikes poor old Carpenter Brut with the infectious instrumental 'Turbo kIller', the video is outstanding and I was chuffed to send this as a Summericia entry... it did fall short of loads of predictions to finish top 10 in BJSC 83 but fear not 22nd was still a reasonable/acceptable position for it even if I had preferred it came top 20 at least... I don't want to feel too big headed to think it should come top 10 even if it deserved that too x :kink: (contradiction ehh lmao) top 10 coming soooon! who will feature ;o
December 30, 20177 yr You Don't Know Me is such a highlight from this year! I heard it again on the EOY Chart Show and forgot how good it was
December 30, 20177 yr Author 10 zC30BYR3CUk 9 wIft-t-MQuE Into the BIG 10 now, not far to go and kicking us off as my 10th favourite song of 2017 we have an act that might actually be a surprise to many in making my top 10 of the year... myself included and that is Arcade Fire. A band I never really went out of my way to listen to, obviously I know they've been around for ages and are a big band in the world, mostly cropping up at the Brits Awards or something but I never had any initiative to really seek out any of their music until... 'Everything Now' came along this year. A very hippy happy alt rock radio friendly hit with all sorts of interesting sounds and a chanting chorus. This sadly didn't make the official top 40 but I would immediately put it down as a song that should have. It did make the sales top 40 though. I'm surprised I took to it as much as I did but it's been on the radio a lot this summer and it's something I always find myself humming or singing along to especially the chorus... so congrats Arcade Fire for debuting for the first time in a EOY of mine and making the top 10 as well! In at number nine we have the last track from Taylor's #1 album Reputation... '...Ready For It', admittedly I wasn't taken to this at all one first listen so I can agree with people on initial reaction when they said it wasn't any better than LWYMMD however after a couple more listens that completely changed when I jumped specifically to the chorus and then the rest of it all fell into one and I really grew to enjoy it then quite quickly love it and even prefer it to Taylor's #1 single in the end!
December 30, 20177 yr Author 8 8j9zMok6two 7 dMK_npDG12Q Miley Cyrus made a comeback after her experimental phase in 2013, whilst 'Wrecking Ball' finished in 5th back in that year... the mellow and lovely 'Malibu' ends 3 places lower but what's more interesting is that I actually prefer this to WB by some margin. I guess the fact that I heard it less in the last few months and big hits coming out towards the latter half really gave it an disadvantage because it could have been a challenger for top 4 otherwise. Still 8th is fairly respectable I think! Lorde also made a comeback this year and turned me into an actual full on fan, her album has to be up with the best this year and every song she's released shits all over her first album (only liking 'Team' and her Disclosure collab beforehand) 'Green Light' is an anthemic sounding song and should have done way better than a #20 peak in the official chart but it did hold up a decent run regardless... GL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Royals, Sorry NOT sorry.. so Lorde here you go have 7th best song for me of 2017! Edited December 30, 20177 yr by Rob S
December 31, 20177 yr Author 6 ksdAs4LBRq8 and narrowly missing my top 5 we have the recent smash from Rita Ora.. 'Anywhere' would probably be a MASSIVE shoe in for #1 given a little more time but with only 2 ish month of release has done completely the opposite of where similar big songs like 'Hello' which only finished at #95 & 'Rockabye' #64 as well as 'Alga' coming at 39 last year... a lot of these were mostly down to my chart run rules and would with including chart runs and this system being all at least top 20 (Hello was 14 on my alternative non chart run chart in 2015 tbf) also along with Beyonce's 'If I Were A Boy'.. although that too was number 1 for 7 weeks and was based on chart runs and my rather odd way of using reverse division to estimate average combined positions lol. So Rita takes a much favoured advantage of doing so well for a late October release.. 'Anywhere' finishes at 6, it's only 4 down on her best EOY performance, that being 'I Will Never Let You Down' coming 2nd in 2014 (with chart runs and it did so strong on that front too). 'Anywhere' is a really upbeat song with a chorus full of quotes from a English poem 2 centuries ago, it's a very happy song lyrically and the music accompanying it just feels like perfection. It's amazing that Rita who otherwise is deemed an average pop singer can be capable of a) longevity (well I doubt anyone really thought she'd still be getting top 10's 5 years on) and b) releasing strong pop tracks that many define one of their top songs of 2017!

December 31, 20177 yr Taylor, Katy, Imagine Dragons and Kesha  Symphony  Awesome song with an awesome video  Very good Top10 right now :cheer: Rita and Taylor in the Top10, awesome to see Ready For It (I listened very late  )
December 31, 20177 yr Author TOP 5 TIME! 5 Uq8fE3kKIBk Hands down my personal favourite dance track this year... so incredibly joyous and Ella's voice on this is incredible. It also baffles me as to why Ella can't score a top 10 single on her own but I suppose features is where she's much more capable of doing better on. Sigala also has released several tunes in the past but none have hit me like this absolute killer of a dance track. It was a strong contender (along with JP and maybe even Lorde and a couple of others) to be my EOY 1.. in fact in August it was closing in on another song but never did quite take over in any of my updates. 'Came Here For Love' gave both Sigala & Ella Eyre another top 10 this past June and had gone on to be a big hit, perfect for party's & bbq's etc & everytime I hear it, it doesn't fail to make me happy lol! This being at 5 means we have just 4 songs left and if you might have clicked by now we still haven't seen Pink or my first top 10 BJSC entry yet along with another artist ;o
December 31, 20177 yr Author 4 cWQbNb39lgc AND here's where things really turn up for the books as CRIM3S 'still goin' finishes in 4th :o the song lead the EOY all the way up to the 3rd week of November. It was the song to finally grab me a top 10 smash after a year and a bit of frustration entering songs to finish in the contest's bottom 10 :( or DNQ lol. My luck changed when I sent Billie Ray Martin in September of last year and then Ignea but this was where I finally broke through, completely going for something out of my comfort zone... Witch house. Whilst browsing Spotify witch house tracks there wasn't anything that massively suckered me in until I heard this and once I did I couldn't stop listening lmao... in fact within 2 weeks 'still goin' made 11 on my Your Year in Spotify 2016 too so I must have hammered it loads ;') this witchy song really give me immense chills, the intro and outro are two of the defining parts to this song. It's such a cool song mixed with screaming vocals in the chorus to really give the words a dark and cold twist.

December 31, 20177 yr Author 3 EBt_88nxG4c So one of Pink's track misses out on making it a double top 2, 'Beautiful Trauma' named after the album is irresistibly catchy and kick ass song also sounding very christmassy too without being an ACTUAL :jameela: Christmas song at all (as only Pink can do). It serves as the 2nd single to come off Pink's #1 album and is only just taking off now but I always found it a highlight off the album.. in fact I gave it 11 in the BT rate on Buzzjack!
December 31, 20177 yr Author so my last two songs remaining are 'New Rules' & 'What About Us', who will take the crown? The year of the rising star or the year of continued longevity and relevance ;o find out in a few minutes! Edited December 31, 20177 yr by Rob S
December 31, 20177 yr Author 2 k2qgadSvNyU So it's Dua Lipa... the hottest, rising star who's had one hell of a ride to success this year that finishes in runner up podium. 'Be The One' which was at 20 was re-released as it was originally premiered in 2015 and became a top 10 hit for her after one or two top 40 hits the year before but Dua also snatched two more top 10 hits earlier in the year by featuring on Martin Garrix & Sean Paul's songs (I didn't care for No Lie which is why it doesn't feature at all in my countdown), it wasn't until the summer that things picked up enormously though as 'New Rules' quickly ascended to the top of the UK chart even with ACR input and became the first woman to have a solo single hit the top spot since Adele two years prior.. if there's one thing I've noticed is that there really has been a decrease in female number 1s on the whole compared to 5/10 years ago, only Camilla has since also topped the chart, if you excluded Little Mix as they are a group. 'New Rules' is a fantastic slice of party pop and the lyrics I'm sure the majority of the nation can relate to with relationships and demands etc so I have to amend her on producing a excellent example of that really. It's such a tune and her voice is so great and different that her songs stand out from the rest.. to think last year her label were really struggling to break her through as an artist and they seemed not to stop with a hit sounding song however last year I'm sure they were really frustrated but their hard work certainly pays off this year just when everyone wrote her off, even when NR came out it got top 10 predictions so it's safe we knew we were dealing with a much bigger hit in the wings. GO ON DUA, keep smashing next year with the just as brilliant 'IDGAF'! Edited December 31, 20177 yr by Rob S
December 31, 20177 yr Author 1 ClU3fctbGls AND so we have made it my top track of the year and I think it was about time she deserved to get a EOY #1 from me with the stunning 'What About Us'... of course it's Pink. The mega superstar first burst onto the scene in 2000 and has released tune after tune and she's also topped my weekly chart 3 times as well with 'So What', 'I Don't Believe You' and 'Perfect' along with countless other hits. She is up there with my absolute favourite female musicians of all time but how she can outlast the likes of female superstars of the same time she debuted like Britney and Christina is something which we still can't quite fathom. Pink's ongoing longevity is something I will always admire the public for, not letting her bow out of relevance anytime soon. 'What About Us' is quite a surprise of a comeback as Pink barely makes a ballad her first single from a new album, it's lyrics are about social freedom and possibly about Trump too (I dunno totally on that one tho) with the politics ballava. it's very relevant and relateable like several tracks that came out this year and I thought it'd feel a bit odd not to give Pink the EOY #1 especially when a worthy song candidate came out at the right time to challenge for the top! So there you have it... thanks one and all... will respond to comments in a little while or tommorow but thanks for making this thread a worthwhile and enjoyable countdown to do and here's to 2018. Happy New Year :cheer: (recap coming in a mo)

YES, was a super lead single! Thank you Joseph! Great Top 3 overall :D Really glad Dua has done so well with New Rules! oh yes I do too. given another few weeks BT probably would have replaced WAU at the top because the latter has been out longer and was a defining song in the UK charts this year. I hope it's at least a top 10 hit for her. yeah me too, just when a year ago everyone thought they'd given up trying to push her! thanks!
