Great to see Gang Signs & Prayer in your top 10. There's really not a bad song on there for me, even the interludes are good! Massive contender for my album of the year.

The XX's "I See You" is easily one of my highlights of the year I love all the singles and a lot more album tracks too. Also wtf at On Hold being so low for you!

I also love Younger Now and Gang Signs and Prayers both have some great songs on them.

Also echoing the love for Melodrama such a fantastic album

Melodrama is much better than Pure Heroine for me, such a fantastic album!!

Need to peep Miley still, quite behind on that :drama:

Omg at you not peeping Miley yet!! I couldn't wait after loving the pre-album singles so much and the album definitely didn't disappoint. You have to get around to it some time soon!!!

Thanks for commenting Joseph <3

Gangs Signs & Prayer in your top 10 :cheer: fantastic album!

It is a really fantastic album and one I really wasn't expecting to love so much :o

Thanks for commenting Dobbo!

Yeah! Velvet / Jenny Francis is one of my favourite tracks on the album and that is just an interlude, he really did everything right with this album

Thanks Lewis!!

I still don't really get On Hold really to this day, I like it a fair bit but it's a bit unexciting for me and I don't love it like most people, haha :o

08. Royal Blood - How Did We Get So Dark?

Chart run: (2-1-2-3-3-6-7-7-8-7-9-10-x) 12 weeks

Hit singles:

06 How Did We Get So Dark? (29-23-9-9-7-6-...) 6 weeks (so far)

07 Lights Out (25-7-7-13-18-19-19-20-23-22-19-22-30-32-x) 14 weeks

21 I Only Lie When I Love You (21-23-25-30-49-x) 5 weeks

After absolutely adoring their debut self-titled album, I couldn't have been much more excited for the follow-up and it really did deliver which was excellent news. Lights Out is one of those songs that just never gets old and I've massively enjoyed going back to the album for many months now. If I was pushed, I do think I would say their debut album is ever so slightly stronger but there's really nothing between the two so props to them for maintaining such a high quality of rock bangers :music: This was actually prevented from debuting at #1 by Melodrama but it seems Royal Blood are the real winners as they have landed a longer chart run and higher EOY position *.*

07. Declan McKenna - What Do You Think About the Car?

Chart run: (4-2-2-3-3-6-7-7-9-9-10-10-x) 12 weeks

Hit singles:

05 Humongous (33-33-27-31-18-5-7-22-34-39-x) 10 weeks

07 Why Do You Feel So Down (31-29-14-10-8-7-...) 6 weeks (so far)

26 Brazil (31-26-27-39-45-x) 5 weeks

This is the highest album in my EOY chart to not hit the top spot on my weekly charts which is an impressive little achievement for Declan. He was on my radar a little before the Brazil re-release but I didn't properly take notice until that. Nowadays, that is my favourite song of his despite the low peak and was the reason I decided to give the album a listen. Joseph summed it up really nicely in his EOY why this such a relatable yet enjoyable album so go read that basically ~~

Yay at Declan making an appearance - that album has so many great songs on it! Hope to see a few of his singles on the Singles countdown as well!

Definitely at least one entry of his will make it. I haven't finalised the list yet but he might even be lucky enough to get all three charting songs make it :o

Thanks for commenting, Pete

06. alt-j - RELAXER

Chart run: (1-2-4-3-5-6-5-8-9-9-10-10-10-x) 13 weeks

Hit singles:

06 In Cold Blood (16-7-6-6-8-14-19-20-24-19-22-32-35-41-46-x) 15 weeks

12 Deadcrush (19-12-16-17-24-28-31-39-x) 8 weeks

15 3WW (17-16-15-15-21-23-30-44-x) 8 weeks

"Matilda" was the first ever alt-j song I heard and after enjoying it quite a lot, I decided to listen to their debut album which I liked a fair amount but didn't love. Their second album was much stronger for me but I seem to be one of a very small group who thinks that. Relaxer easily ranks as their best album to date for me though, my only gripe is that it isn't longer which isn't a bad criticism to have at all. 3WW was a lovely introduction to the sound of the era but it was In Cold Blood which really grabbed me and just refused to get old. The album is full of gorgeous tracks but I think my big highlight would have to be Adeline

05. Taylor Swift - Reputation

Chart run: (1-1-1-1-1-...) 5 weeks (so far)

Hit singles:

01 Look What You Made Me Do (5-1-1-1-1-3-7-8-9-10-19-13-14-18-25-30-...) 16 weeks (so far)

02 ... Ready For It? (2-2-6-8-6-7-11-11-20-23-31-40-47-x) 13 weeks

04 Gorgeous (5-4-8-5-5-6-5-8-...) 8 weeks (so far)

This probably does suffer a bit from being by far the most recent album to finish this high but it definitely wouldn't be reaching #1 anyway even with more time but for now it settles for the #5 spot. I said in the past that I found the first half of the album much stronger than the second half but now I really appreciate almost all of the tracks on the album equally and the only real dud for me is "New Year's Day" which is a little on the dull side for my liking. I do think that 1989 suited the definition of pop perfection slightly better but there are some utter jams on here and she has massively delivered as a popstar once again. "I Did Something Bad" for next single PLEASE

04. Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1

Chart run: (1-2-2-3-4-4-5-6-7-8-8-10-10-x) 13 weeks

Hit singles:

02 Feels (3-2-2-2-5-6-8-8-12-26-27-48-x) 12 weeks

02 Faking It (7-2-6-6-14-15-24-...) 7 weeks (so far)

12 Slide (12-13-18-30-38-46-x) 6 weeks

16 Rollin (16-16-22-34-x) 4 weeks

30 Heatstroke (32-30-30-39-x) 4 weeks

Usually Calvin tracks are pretty much all instant top 10 hits for me because he always seems to deliver banger after banger so I must admit I was little worried for this album after only liking and not really loving any of the pre-album singles. Feels hit me really quickly though so I decided the album was worth a listen and was really impressed by how he managed to keep his sound so fresh. The songs I wasn't so keen on like Heatstroke grew on me massively in the context of the entire album and it was almost as if he had saved all of the best tracks on the album as album tracks. The likes of "Skrt on Me" and "Faking It" which wasn't a single at the time are some of his best songs in years in my opinion !! :o

03. Jessie Ware - Glasshouse

Chart run: (1-1-1-2-2-2-2-2-...) 8 weeks (so far)

Hit singles:

02 Midnight (4-3-2-5-9-11-28-40-42-46-x) 10 weeks

03 Alone (13-10-4-3-5-13-18-18-29-35-42-...) 11 weeks (so far)

03 Selfish Love (20-9-3-7-11-11-13-17-30-38-48-x) 11 weeks

The "Tough Love" era turned me from a casual fan of Jessie in to a huge fan of her and it's one of my favourite albums of recent years. Due to that, I had really high hopes for this and all of the pre-album singles were doing a great job of even getting me more excited. Nothing on here quite tops "Champagne Kisses" or "You & I (Forever)" as her best ever singles for me but there is not one single dud on the album and I've been loving listening to it non-stop these past two months or so. I've booked to see her in Newcastle next year so I'm really looking forward to that too :w00t:

:o ! LANA DEL REY VS. HAIM ! :o

02. HAIM - Something To Tell You

Chart run: (1-1-2-3-3-2-2-3-4-5-7-7-8-9-10-10-10-x) 17 weeks

Hit singles:

02 Want You Back (9-4-2-4-6-10-14-16-14-6-2-5-6-11-11-24-26-x) 17 weeks

04 Little of Your Love (4-7-11-16-36-43-50-x) 7 weeks

A lot of people seemed to have gone off HAIM a little after their very successful debut era but I've been just as impressed with the light summery bops they have given us this time around too. "Want You Back" now rivals "If I Could Change Your Mind" as their best ever track (would be impossible to decide between the two really) but the album is full of huge highlights ("Ready for You" and "Nothing's Wrong" to name my big album track favourites). If I was pressed for an answer then I would probably say Days Are Gone ranks slightly above this for me but I guess that's probably because their style didn't sound quite as fresh the second time around. These three incredibly cool ladies continue slay my existence with every music video or performance they do and I can't wait to see what they have to offer next time around. I just hope the wait isn't as long !! :drama:

01. Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life

Chart run: (1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-1-2-2-4-6-6-7-8-9-8-8-8-...) 21 weeks (so far)

Hit singles:

01 Summer Bummer (4-2-1-1-3-10-14-23-42-46-45-45-50-x) 13 weeks

02 Lust for Life (3-2-3-3-4-6-7-8-16-20-27-31-xx-32-45-x) 14 weeks

03 Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind (14-3-3-5-17-30-44-48-x) 8 weeks

10 Love (29-10-12-15-21-25-35-36-37-41-49-46-x) 12 weeks

There really was NO other option for #1 on my EOY. Lana is by far the most played artist of mine this year and is the only artist to get four top 10 hits as the lead artist on my personal chart this year too so she has quite clearly been my artist of the year. Ultraviolence was my previous favourite Lana album but I think it's pretty safe to say this has surpassed it now and is my firm Lana fave. There are very few albums where I would say 16 tracks isn't long enough but this has been about for a few months and I'm already craving another 80 Lana tracks in my life. Don't stay away for too long please Lana (and tour a bit more of the UK next time...)

This year will be the first year I've done more than a top 100 but I've gone for a top 140 this year because there has been so much good stuff in 2017. Here are three tracks that made the longlist but JUST missed out.

GBv93RT.png220px-J._Cole_-_Deja_Vu.pngeF8Cf4K.jpg

141. Offset - Ric Flair Drip / / (25-13-16-17-16-...) 5 weeks (so far)

142. J. Cole - Deja Vu / / (24-16-9-12-15-25-31-43-48-x) 9 weeks

143. Rat Boy - Laidback / / (39-13-13-18-29-36-x) 6 weeks

Ric Flair Drip - This suffers a bit from just being too recent to make a huge impact but I imagine with more time, it could've been much higher in my EOY. I discovered this through Bre who introduced me to it because he thought it might be my cup of tea and he was right because it is a banger. It's hardly rap at its absolute finest but it's really catchy and shows how Offset is really the best member of Migos.

Deja Vu - I said in my albums commentary that I preferred J. Cole's last album to his more recent one and the same has to be said for the accompanying lead singles too ("Apparently" peaked higher on my personal chart too at #3). Deja Vu is a really smooth track but I just can't find a space for it in my top 140 as I barely ever return to it :(

Laidback - "Revolution" was the first song that introduced me to Rat Boy and I really liked that too but it wasn't until this that I really took a proper interest. I haven't heard it in months now which is part of the reason it hasn't quite made the list but it still has a great chorus and remains my favourite Rat Boy song to date.

great to see Calvin at #4, did Skrt On Me not chart for you then or is it just omitted from the history for not being a single?

only listened to 'Ric Flair Drip' once but hopefully the success of that gets Offset more solo recognition, standout Migos member for me - should've been him that got all the features rather than Quavo!

Here are the albums that I enjoy from your Year-End List:

01. Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life

02. HAIM - Something To Tell You

03. Jessie Ware - Glasshouse

04. Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1

05. Taylor Swift - Reputation

07. Declan McKenna - What Do You Think About the Car?

08. Royal Blood - How Did We Get So Dark?

09. Lorde - Melodrama

12. The xx - I See You

13. Harry Styles - Harry Styles

14. The Weeknd - Starboy

17. Pink - Beautiful Trauma

18. Kesha - Rainbow

20. Niall Horan - Flicker

22. Paloma Faith - The Architect

23. Paramore - After Laughter

24. Imagine Dragons - Evolve

25. Ed Sheeran - Divide

28. Kasabian - For Crying Out Loud

29. Oh Wonder - Ultralife

30. SZA - Ctrl

32. London Grammar - Truth is a Beautiful Thing

34. Nothing but Thieves - Broken Machine

35. Sam Smith - The Thrill of It All

36. Wolf Alice - Visions of a Life

37. PVRIS - All We Need of Heaven, All We Need of Hell

Also, I surprisingly like "Ric Flair Drip".

Happy with that top 2 in either order! Actually Haim's was just a slight disappointment for me whereas Lana had a brilliant return to form this year so I'd say you made the right choice :D

Bring on the singles countdown! :cheer:

After getting over Look What You Made Me Do pretty quickly and finding the 3 other songs pretty average I wasn't expecting to like Reputation but I gave it a listen when it was put on Spotify and I think it's pretty great. Although the singles haven't been anywhere near as good, the album is so much better than 1989 for me. She really has won be back over.

I also keep meaning to check out the Calvin album but still haven't got around to it.

Deja Vu missing out :( Big tune. I'm glad that became his first top 40 hit.

I try to just chart proper singles but it gets confusing with all this promo/buzz single business that goes on nowadays. That's why Skrt On Me didn't chart though :o

Offset is definitely the best from Migos, wish he had more exposure like Quavo as you mentioned.

Thanks Dan!

Woop, both are excellent albums but it really wasn't even close, Lana was such a runaway winner

Thanks Jordan!

Her album is really fab, all of "I Did Something Bad", "End Game" and "Don't Blame Me" sound like massive smashes to me so I hope she pushes some more singles.

J. Cole really deserves more UK success, he seems to be getting more global now so I hope he gets a couple more with his next era.

Thanks Lewis!!

Calvin's album in your top 5

A fab album, glad you loved it too!

Thanks BridgeCow :D

'LAIDBACK' was great! I'd quite liked his previous stuff but that was the first track to make a dent in my Personal Chart, the chorus was just so catchy!

Seems we agree on Laidback being the first song of his to properly click. Excited to see what his second era sounds like :cheer:

Thanks Pete!

136. Khalid - Location / / (42-34-14-11-14-27-39-45-x) 8 weeks

137. Banks - This Is Not About Us / / (11-8-8-11-21-38-46-x) 7 weeks

138. Post Malone - I Fall Apart / / (14-13-14-14-16-15-25-31-43-...) 9 weeks (so far)

139. Lotto Boyzz - No Don / / (21-12-13-16-20-20-24-37-x) 8 weeks

140. Lil Bump - Gucci Gang / / (22-20-17-28-26-29-36-36-39-...) 9 weeks (so far)

Not the most Buzzjack friendly section here as most of it is pretty urban/rap but we do have Banks in this section with This Is Not About Us who I believe is fairly popular in Buzzjack? This is my favourite single of hers to date and I still like listening to it too so the short chart run is a bit misleading. Location was the first I had heard of Khalid but he has turned into a much bigger star since this premiered. Unfortunately it didn't cross over to the UK despite being a pretty big hit in the US :( The same cannot be said for Gucci Gang and I Fall Apart which both did really well both sides of the pond. I know Lil Pump is pretty despised here and he is certainly a questionable personality in real life but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find his tracks ridiculously catchy. The final track to mention is No Don, a song that I first heard of via ML Hammer I think and it became a firm favourite for the next couple of months after first hearing it :music:

Location is amazing  really should have been huge here too, it sounds like such an obvious hit idk what happened :(
