He returned to the chart a few weeks before the cut-off point with #2 hit Fishbowl, a quirky track with a huge chorus. He recently supported Little Mix on tour, but unfortunately not at my date so I missed the chance to hear Fishbowl performed live :( He's joined in this section by Britain's Got Talent star Harry Gardner, who released his audition track Not Alone late last year as a charity single. Not Alone is a heartfelt tribute to his nan, who died of Alzheimer's disease. I find it a beautiful track, performed fantastically by Harry. Boyband The Shades make their first appearance of two with debut hit 24 Hours a Day, a fun little pop track that I heard for the first time when they supported The Tide on tour. Zak Abel also makes his first appearance of two, as the second single from his debut album appears at #109. All I Ever Do (Is Say Goodbye) was his second top 5 hit, following Unstable which is still to come. Charli XCX managed a couple of weeks in the top 10 with Boys, a song that went viral due to the video featuring many famous males topless. It's Charli's only appearance this year, although she's featured in every EOY chart since 2013, including on my EOY #1 song Fancy in 2014, with Iggy Azalea. Hunter Hayes also charted in the top 10 in 2014, and has featured every EOY chart from 2014 onwards except 2016. Rescue sees him almost return to the top 100, but he only just misses out. He's made a huge impact on the UK charts, but Rag'n'Bone Man's highest track "only" features at #105 here. Skin proved to be a slow-burner, but it was always more instant than Human for me, eventually becoming his only top 10 hit here. Swedish girl group Dolly Style made their chart debut with Bye Bye Bby Boo, a BJSC entry from this year, and new British talent RAYE appears at an impressive #102 with her breakthrough solo hit Decline. I love the infectious sample in the chorus, and RAYE succeeds in bringing it up to date with a great feature from Mr Eazi. Finally, Kiiara makes her second and final appearance as the heartfelt Wishlist, her biggest hit to date, appears at #103. Recommendation 4bgQ_1ZtW4M
January 3, 20187 yr Really liked Wishlist, that and Whippin' are all I've really liked from her this year tho :(
January 3, 20187 yr Author Artists 6 Demi Lovato One more artist reveal before the top 100 begins! I've been a fan of Demi Lovato's since I heard Skyscraper, I was aware of her beforehand but wasn't so keen on much of her first couple of eras. Skyscraper changed things, a total beauty of a track, and since then I've been low-key stanning Demi. I think I've been more into her this past year than at any other point though, possibly because she's felt a lot more present than usual. Demi's first release of the year was with dance music trio Cheat Codes, duetting with member Trevor Dahl on their hit single No Promises. I'd enjoyed Cheat Codes' previous two chart hits so this was a very exciting collaboration, and it sure didn't disappoint. The chorus is very catchy, and I was amazed at how well Demi and Trevor's voices meshed together. Plus it gave us this brilliant GIF moment: Instruction followed next. An energetic collaboration between Demi, Jax Jones and Stefflon Don, and Demi was on a roll with yet another brilliant track. The hat trick was completed when her sixth album's lead single Sorry Not Sorry was released. While many people find Demi's vocals too screechy, it doesn't bother me too and Sorry Not Sorry hasn't grown old at all. Across these three singles, Demi achieved three top 2 hits, with No Promises becoming her second #1 (after Somebody to You in 2014). I was naturally excited for Demi's album, Tell Me You Love Me, and to my relief, it was better than her previous album Confident. Tracks such as the title track, Sexy Dirty Love and Daddy Issues are brilliant and instantly better than the album tracks on Confident, which I haven't returned to since its release. I'd say it's at least on par with her fourth album Demi, which I adored when it came out in 2014. A brilliant year for Demi all round, and I'm just PRAYING that I get tickets to see her when she tours the UK soon!!
January 3, 20187 yr Great to see Rag'n'Bone Man, Raye, Charli XCX and Zak Abel in your Singles Year-End List!
January 4, 20187 yr I couldn't really get into Rescue :( I loved both Yesterday's Song and More, but this was a bit more mellow and didn't have that catchyness I expect when listening to American country singers. I'm sure he's got some more decent tracks up his sleeve though~ Skin was better than Human imo, overplay did kind of ruin it for me though (and the fact that he pushed it as a single when he'd already spent a decent length of time in the Top 40) :(

Sean Paul & Matt Terry - SÚBEME LA RADIO | 5-11-14-18-23-25-35-X (7 weeks) Matt Terry surprised us all with one of the most random collaborations this year, scoring a hit alongside Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul on the English remix of SÚBEME LA RADIO. I really enjoyed the track and was pleased to see Matt get a post-X Factor hit, with the track peaking at #5, just one spot lower than When Christmas Comes Around. It's Enrique's highest charting hit, outdoing I'm a Freak at #10. From one X Factor winner to another, we move to Australian champ Isaiah, who makes his second appearance of two with the relaxed vibes in Streets of Gold at #98. Sandwiched in between is Buzzfave Lorde, who made her biggest impact yet when Green Light became her first top 10 hit earlier this year. Whilst I don't love it quite to the extent of many here, I still enjoy it a lot and it was a solid top 5 hit. A boyband double now, as The Tide are outpeaked by their support act last year The Shades. Put the Cuffs On Me isn't my favourite single from The Tide, but it's a good tropical bop nonetheless and became their third top 5 hit when it debuted at #4 earlier this year. It's their first of two songs to appear this year! Meanwhile, for their support act on tour in mid 2017, The Shades have only one song left as their second track appears just 11 spots above their first. Trouble matched the #4 peak of 24 Hours a Day, but just about has the edge in a closely fought battle. Speaking of boybands, Miles Wesley auditioned to be part of one when he took part in American talent show Boy Band during last year. He didn't succeed in making the band, but nevertheless his prior release Trust, with producer HNNBL, became a #1 quite quickly. It tailed off almost as quick, but I still enjoy it now and it was for sure the obvious #1 that week. From one #1 to another. This time, we look to Kris Kross Amsterdam. Interestingly, the first song I heard by them was Sex, their collab with Cheat Codes. I didn't like Sex when I first heard it, and it never made my chart. Both artists involved went on to achieve a #1 hit with their next single, and Are You Sure? was what did it for Kris Kross Amsterdam. It was also helped by Conor Maynard, who notched up his third #1 hit, and first in almost 2 years when Are You Sure? topped my chart in the final week of 2016. Ty Dolla $ign features on it too (becoming his 2nd #1 after Work from Home!), as well as the song just one place below. Jason Derulo's Swalla was understandably divisive on Buzzjack, and whilst it took me a few listens, it quite quickly wormed its way into my affections with its incredibly infectious beat and catchy lyrics. We also see the first of my BJSC entries this year drop out at #92. Ten songs are due to appear, and the first comes from British electronic duo RIVRS with their hit Playing With Fire. I discovered the song via the boohoo.com advert () and Shazam'd it, and it always sounded like something I'd enjoy. Interestingly, it actually gave me my best result of the year! Finally, finishing the section is Tom Odell, who makes his only appearance in 2017's EOY. Silhouette impacted my chart at the tail end of 2016 as the fourth single from Wrong Crowd, and followed the previous three in making the top 10, as well as the instant grat title track. Recommendation ByIjUnVoFnI
January 6, 20187 yr Swalla and Green Light are the best in that section, also like Subeme La Radio but the original version moreso. Are You Sure was good for about a week but fell flat for me quickly.
January 6, 20187 yr I still don’t understand why Matt Terry had to latch himself onto a track that was perfectly fine without him. YAS @ Green Light/Are You Sure though
January 6, 20187 yr Author Swalla and Green Light are the best in that section, also like Subeme La Radio but the original version moreso. Are You Sure was good for about a week but fell flat for me quickly. I forgot to mention actually but Are You Sure? is officially the worst performing #1 in my chart's history, with only 5 weeks top 40 :o so it burned out v quick for me too! :drama: I still don’t understand why Matt Terry had to latch himself onto a track that was perfectly fine without him. YAS @ Green Light/Are You Sure though    I think it was a smart move in terms of radio, Capital spammed SÚBEME LA RADIO and I'm not sure they'd have touched it without Matt's involvement tbh!

PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj - Run Up | 8-4-5-11-15-24-30-36-X (8 weeks) 88 Chase Atlantic - Right Here | 7-3-6-13-21-30-35-X (7 weeks) 89 PRETTYMUCH - Open Arms | 12-12-8-6-… (4+ weeks) 90 RHODES vs. Felix Jaehn - Your Soul (Holding On) | 6-3-5-10-17-28-38-X (7 weeks) Opening this section, we have one of the more random collaborations of the year. Felix Jaehn remixed RHODES' single Your Soul, giving it a more uplifting feel. I really enjoyed RHODES' album Wishes when it came out, and this was the perfect opportunity to revisit it, with the original Your Soul growing on me loads. I do prefer the remix actually, it adds a little bit of life to the song and the production really complements the vocals. It became the second top 10 for both artists involved - RHODES topped the chart with Close Your Eyes in 2015, while Felix Jaehn made it to #9 with Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) earlier that year. Making two appearances in this section, boyband PRETTYMUCH show they mean business. Open Arms appears first - a ballad that starts of a capella before a slick beat comes in as the song goes on. Open Arms is brilliant, it feels very retro with their impressive harmonies while the production brings it up to date. It peaked at #6 in the final chart before the cut-off point, but actually climbed to #4 a week later. Would You Mind was even more of a slow burner. The boys' energetic debut single entered my chart at #15, and it took eight weeks before it climbed into the top 10, and one more week until it reached its peak of #5. It's the longest running track to feature in the countdown so far, and surprisingly one of the longest runners of the whole year! Another slow-burner was Little Mix's Power. I didn't love it when Glory Days came out like many did, and was sceptical of it being a single as I wasn't sure how the public would take to it. However, I really liked the addition of Stormzy, and the track managed to keep itself afloat in my affections for a while, spending 9 weeks in my top 20 with a peak of #10, becoming Stormzy's first and only top 10 so far. While it wasn't such a slow burner, Sofia Reyes' LOUDER! (Love is Loud) also took a few weeks to peak, eventually making it to #6. It was the Mexican star's third top 10 hit following Muévelo and Conmigo (Rest of Your Life), while it was the first top 10 for both singer Francesco Yates and violinist Spencer Ludwig. Australian trio Chase Atlantic were sent to BJSC by me in my 50th contest this year, as I chose not to make use of the landmark rule-bending opportunity and played by the usual rules with a discovery. Right Here was my favourite from their three-track Part One EP (which they followed with parts 2 and 3 before a full length album, sadly not featuring Right Here), and while it wasn't as big a hit as I'd hoped in the contest, I'm glad I took more of a risk with it and the change in sound to the moody vibes of Right Here was brilliant. One spot above are Major Lazer, who followed up their 2016 #1 hit Cold Water with another banger. Run Up wasn't as instant as Cold Water, but I'm glad I stuck with it because I really grew to love the infectious vibes. Nicki's verse is the highlight, "bout to drop an album, this is my fourth" *.* (altho that proved to be a lie, that album has not dropped almost a year later) Double pop divas at #84 and #83, as Selena Gomez's quirky Bad Liar features first. It was unlucky to peak at #5, stuck behind four other new entries (all still to come, so it wasn't unjust), and gave Selena her fifth consecutive top 10 single as a lead artist (all four from Revival went top 10). It's Selena's second of four appearances in my EOY! Zara Larsson appears for the first time, as the brilliantly catchy I Would Like drops out at #83. Despite its relatively low #10 peak, it's become a contender for my favourite Zara song, with an inspired sample usage and brilliant production. Finally, rounding out the section, Zak Abel appears for the second and final time, as his album's lead single Unstable shows up at #81. It's tied for his highest peaking hit, alongside Still Want UUU which hit the 4 spot just two weeks ago (this will feature in next year's countdown). Recommendation XYkzuZj9g0Y
January 7, 20187 yr I Would Like criminally low here!!! Bad Liar was surprisingly good for a solo Selena track, though I do prefer her ones with dance producers. I enjoyed Run Up and Your Soul (Remix) too.
January 7, 20187 yr Nice to see Streets of Gold and Silhouette here - as you know I love both, the sort of slow meaningful tracks that really get stuck in your head in a lovely way

The track, which spent only two weeks in my top 10, is the first of three appearances from Felix Sandman, Oscar Enestad and Omar Rudberg in my countdown. The track channels Carly Rae's Emotion album in its production, with a catchy chorus, but it's waaaay too short annoyingly, clocking in at only 2:14! Norwegian singer Christopher appears two spots higher with the first #1 of the calendar year 2017. Free Fall became his highest charting position to date, overtaking Take Me Back's #4 peak a few months before. Anne-Marie completes the trio of #1s with her second appearance of three, as Heavy drops out at #72. Ciao Adios is her only remaining track! DJ duo Lost Kings teamed up with singer/songwriter Emily Warren for topical hit Phone Down. Packed with a catchy chorus and rather appropriate lyrics ("why don't you put that f***ing phone down, darling so we could be alone now"), the track was an instant hit for me, peaking at #2 behind Shed a Light by Robin Schulz, David Guetta & Cheat Codes' Shed a Light. Also bringing the catchy dance/pop tunes in this section are JP Cooper and Starley, who interestingly both entered the UK top 10 in the same week. JP Cooper's track proved to be a slow burner, but September Song eventually climbed up to #4 to become his highest peaking track, a title which still stands. Starley however still only has one hit to her name, that being Call On Me - the Ryan Riback remix specifically. It's rare that I'll find a remix which enhances a track, but the original Call On Me feels quite limp to me and the remix is much better! It peaked at #8 for me and notched up an impressive 9 weeks in my chart. Declan McKenna makes appearance two of three, as his first chart hit Humongous drops out at #76, while popstar JoJo appears with FAB. at #74. FAB. is a collaboration with Remy Ma, and stands for "Fake Ass Bitches". It's a fantastic track packed full of attitude, and comes from her long-awaited comeback album Mad Love. which hit #1 in my album chart for three weeks at the start of 2017. X Factor contestant Ryan Lawrie appears one spot above with Perfect Picture, his first post-X Factor release. It didn't reach the #1 high of If Only, but nevertheless gave him a second top 2 hit, peaking behind Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do. Finally, closing the section is Julia Michaels. I'm one of the few people who prefer Uh Huh to her chart hit Issues, but the former was much more instant and caught my ear right away, while Issues was a slow-burner. Julia still has one more song to appear - her Clean Bandit collaboration I Miss You. Recommendation 2cUblECDavU
January 9, 20187 yr Author Artists 5 Kesha Kesha's comeback was one of my most anticipated for 2017. My love for her music has very much grown over the years, going from finding TiK ToK really annoying to absolutely adoring second album Warrior with repeated listens. Her continued legal issues with alleged abuser Dr Luke were heartbreaking to read, but finally, Kesha was freed and she could crack on with her long-awaited third era. Things kicked off in style with lead single Praying. I'll chat about the track more later on, as it's still to feature in my songs countdown, but it's an absolute stunner and it's *the* comeback of the year for me. Kesha stands tall and becomes the bigger person in Praying, but still she speaks honestly about her feelings. This is something that continues on her third album Rainbow. There's a mix of both sides of Kesha on there. Her catchy, uptempo tunes haven't been forgotten, but we also get to hear heartfelt tracks from her too, and it's brilliant to hear her side of the story so openly in some of the tracks. However, the entire album doesn't dwell on Dr Luke, which is brilliant also because we see Kesha doing what she absolutely loves, with country influences in her dance/pop bangers that weirdly works so well. 2017 has been a superb year for Kesha, and it's only made her grow in my affections more as a true warrior. She's come out the other end, bigger and better, and is a true inspiration. I cannot wait to see what the future brings, hopefully a UK tour because I would kill to see her live!!
January 10, 20187 yr September Song  I'm still amazed at how well it did officially after discovering it back in October when it had no airplay whatsoever, just wish he could have another Top 40 hit :( Humongous is great also, my least favourite from the recent singles but a great song nonetheless! Love the extra bit at the end :D

Charlie Puth - Oops | 16-31-X-9-7-7-9-14-21-30-39-X (10 non-consecutive weeks) Remarkably high for an album track, Little Mix's Oops became a top 10 hit at the very end of 2016 after their X Factor performance, and ended up with a very solid chart run. It's a shame it wasn't a single imo, I prefer it to all of the Glory Days era singles bar two - which are still to come! On a loosely connected X Factor note, Harry Styles is at #68 with his second single Two Ghosts, which actually maintained a longer chart run than I remembered! While it didn't make the #1 high of his debut Sign of the Times, it still gave him a second top 10 as a solo artist. Sandwiched between is the first of a double Bebe Rexha helping in this section. F.F.F. was included on All Your Fault: Pt. 1 which was released at the start of the year, and was instantly my favourite from the EP. Despite the expletive in the title (F**k Fake Friends), I think it could've been a sizeable hit had it been given a push. Just a few spots higher is the lead single from All Your Fault: Pt. 2, and my favourite song of Bebe's so far as a lead artist (she has a featured track still to come). Despite Lil Wayne's heavily autotuned verse, The Way I Are is a huge bop and extremely catchy. I saw her live just a day before it came out, and she sang the chorus a capella, it was brilliant! I wish it was one of these two songs that broke Bebe through, as opposed to Meant to Be, which I'm not into so much. A double BJSC helping now. Firstly, Suedehead's entry I Built a Friend by Alec Benjamin pops up (although I knew it well in advance of its BJSC arrival!). This song's been on an interesting ride in my chart, first entering in summer 2016 when Alec released the song onto Soundcloud as a demo. Fast forward almost a year, and I Built a Friend was released to iTunes with added production and a music video. The song took on a new lease of life, re-entering my chart and peaking at #6, his first top 10! It's a very touching song I find, beautifully sung and written. One of my own entries is just above. Swedish popstar Frans Walfridsson has appeared already with debut single Emergency Call, but it was his second single Tonight that properly connected with me. It became his second top 10 hit, and his first top 5 when it peaked at #4. Unfortunately it failed to qualify in BJSC, a disappointing result for a great song. Another of my BJSC songs appears just a few places up. British singer/songwriter The Beach has also appeared already, with promotional track Bridge Back to Your Heart. Bite My Tongue came just a few weeks before, and served as the "proper" single at the time. I sent it to BJSC, having considered his previous track Geronimo, and it gave me my third qualifier on the trot. It notched up a hugely impressive run in my chart despite a relatively low #8 peak, achieving 15 weeks in my top 40! Teen Wolf has been the defining TV show of 2017 for me without a doubt, and it even led me to discover a new track. I've been interested in all of Cheat Codes' chart hits so far, but I hadn't delved into their earlier stuff. Adventure was used during an episode of season 6, and I instantly recognised band member Trevor's vocals so I decided to check it out. Adventure is a feel-good track and I loved it from first listen, giving them a fourth top 5 hit in my chart (although it broke their run of three consecutive #1 singles... but follow-up Feels Great would've done that anyway so it was only a matter of time). Having scored a couple of top 10 hits in 2015, Jasmine Thompson returned with her biggest hit to date. With some added production courtesy of Jonas Blue, her original song Old Friends became a top 3 hit. It's a well-written track with a catchy chorus, and whilst the original doesn't quite hit the spot, the Jonas remix really elevates it. Finally, rounding out the section is The Tide's best showing this year. Naked peaked at #2 behind Nadine's Go to Work (still to come), and was a highly anticipated track for me having heard it live a few times beforehand. It didn't disappoint, although it grew off me quicker than their 2016 #1 hit Click My Fingers. Recommendation BI1wEvR2G3A
January 11, 20187 yr I like "Old Friends (Jonas Blue Remix)" and "Two Ghosts"! "Two Ghosts" has also made my Year-End list too!
January 11, 20187 yr Green Light is the only song by Lorde I've been able to really get into. I got bored of it quickly though. Swalla is all about Nicki's verse, that's epic but the rest is just alright. Power is my favourite Little Mix track of the year. Bad Liar was quite an underwhelming return from Selena but I've grown to really like it. Call On Me was one I really enjoyed at the start of the year then completely forgot about. Oops is such a great album track. It seems to get a lot of unfair hate as well. Shame it peaked at 41.
January 11, 20187 yr Yay @ Adventure on here. I considered that for BJSC many moons ago (aka before “Sex” was even a thing).
