Gosh, when will this urban hip/hop finally die? :(
Um, despite I really hate Man's Nut Hot so freakin much, I kinda fell for the wow-effect of gift cards...anyway, I'm slightly glad that Big Shaq is still able to rock.

....

I thought the majority of people recieving itunes gift cards were a bit older than that. Most young teens would use spotify and not download any more I thought.

Yes for Big Shaq at itunes number 1. Really like that song, an actual lively song in terms of production and vocal that shines above most of the beige chart hits around at the minute for me!

I think Spotify etc. is more for the 18-35 generation right now.

Gift cards are for the teens.. not sure many 14 years old can commit to spending £9.99 a month on a streaming platform unless their parents are pretty generous...

Gift card effect:

1. Big Shaq - Man's Not Hot (and #46, #597)

3. Camila Cabello - Havana (and #23, #206, #734)

6. Selena Gomez & Marshmello - Wolves

7. Marshmello - Silence (and #80)

9. Post Malone - rockstar (and #25, #115)

13. James Arthur - Naked

14. Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes (and #66, #527)

19. Lil Pump - Gucci Gang

21. CNCO & Little Mix - Reggaeton Lento (and #79, #193)

Or if the parents buy a family plan for £14.99 a month. Or if the 14 year olds are using the Free version of Spotify.

I think most teens use YouTube/Spotify for music but the few that use iTunes we still see a notable effect for because they're all getting and using their gift cards today, and iTunes sales are very low.

Gift card effect songs are still increasing (Big Shaq's lead continuing to increase and 'Havana' on the verge of climbing back to #2), I'm sure in previous years the gift card effect started to wane pretty much immediately?
I’d prefer if gift card effect was used on new songs instead of old songs

Streaming platforms are usually free of charge, at least Spotify is, why would anyone pay for them?

Why would you not pay for them? Strange thing to say.

I can’t stand the free version. You can’t select songs and the adverts!

I don’t think I know many people that use the free version most people have it bundled with a phone contract.

According to Nas it died in 2006.

But hip hop isn't dead.

Now people moaning about hip hop oh yay.

I can select any song I want and it's unlimited, all for free (on the computer as I hate mobile phones).

Ads can be annoying but they're only like 1 minute every 5 or 6 songs.

most people see it as more respectful to the artists by paying a small fee... people don't realise what a privilege it is to have unlimited music at your fingertips free of charge.

Hopefully never.
