I feel like IDGAF is performing similarly to New Rules off the back of it because they both have similar lyrical meaning, I love all of duas singles buy i still dont think her previous singles would have been number ones if they were released after New Rules

Be The One would have easily been a top 5/3 hit if released post New Rules.

I love IDGAF and think it deserves all the success it's getting but I do think it's fast Spotify climb is coming partly because of how her profile was raised from New Rules - the song basically became an online meme. And as well her 5-Brit noms has given her a lot of publicity. Basically, her profile is huge at the moment.

The lack of success on iTunes might prevent Barking from reaching #1. I can see it being #2 behind River and then something else (maybe IDGAF) overtaking it.

On the contrary I would love to see Barking at #1. It's a hell of a lot more inspired than 'River' and it would be amazing to see a British urban newcomer get a #1 all by himself.

Seems unlikely for the time being as 'River' is doing a lot better on downloads.

Dua Is just smashing so much, insane. BTO is her best and now would have been number 1 easily but what can you do, I think she'll sweep the Brits and her second era will be huge! She deserves it so much!

This is what I think too.

I think "Tears" by Clean Bandit would've followed "Rockabye" to number 1 had it been that way around as well.

We're in an era where building momentum seems key; keeping the quality of your music high is likely to pay long term dividends.

Agreed with the above, I also think Hotter than Hell would have been a top 10 hit if released now. Perhaps Lost In Your Light might have fallen by the wayside if released now which is a shame as I really love it. TBH Dua's whole album is great.

She was also spectacular when I saw her live in New York last summer.

Hmm I’m not sure. Clean Bandit were huge even before Rockabye.

They'd been away for a bit, so weren't capitalising on immediately current huge success. It was 2 and a half years since "Rather Be" (and a bit less since "Real Love" which wasn't as big). Just my thoughts anyway.
