January 5, 20187 yr I guess we will just have to wait for the next OCC "sales-only" figure to be released for Legend! Maybe at his or Its next anniversary of some sort! (PS, I am not dissing your great work, Gezza!...I'm loving this thread!!! :) )
January 5, 20187 yr Author I guess we will just have to wait for the next OCC "sales-only" figure to be released for Legend! Maybe at his or Its next anniversary of some sort! (PS, I am not dissing your great work, Gezza!...I'm loving this thread!!! :) ) No worries- there are discrepancies between my totals and the OCC's on pre 1994 albums so I don't mind explaining how I've reached my figures which is more than you'll get from the OCC :D
January 6, 20187 yr Yes it does HOWEVER the OCC figure is well below what it really is. We can be certain of its sales this decade, and the 996,000 it sold in the 00s, plus 1.21 million in the 90s so that makes 2,893,000. That means that the OCC reckon the album sold 657,000 in the 80s (using their figure) which clearly can't be the case for the 17th biggest album of the 80s especially as MW reported that by the end of the 80s we know the 31st biggest album of the decade (Phil Collins' "But Seriously") crossed the million mark before 1989 closed. My own estimate for the 80s stands at 1,350,000. Hence the difference between my figure and the OCC along with the eternal question of the 94-96 period. :D Thanks Gezza.
January 6, 20187 yr Author 40. HUMAN- Rag’n’Bone Man (NEW) 1,001,900 39. BORN THIS WAY- Lady Gaga (18-18-22-25-28-35-39) 1,020,800 38. UNORTHODOX JUKEBOX- Bruno Mars (30-29-32-36-38) 1,030,200 37. TAKE ME HOME- One Direction (42-24-28-30-34-37) 1,032,100 36. I CRY WHEN I LAUGH- Jess Glynne (86-39-36) 1,039,800 It may not be the highest new entry but it’s certainly the highest new entry for a debut album- yes Rag’N’Bone Man’s “Human” is already the 40th biggest album of the decade. Jess Glynne continues to sell well in 2017 and pushes up another 3 spots but other than that everything falls. QeWBS0JBNzQ
January 6, 20187 yr Author 35. SUNNY SIDE UP- Paolo Nutini (6-14-20-23-24-27-32-35) 1,049,500 (T/S 1,860,000) 34. TALK THAT TALK- Rihanna (26-17-20-23-26-31-34) 1,050,600 33. AM- Arctic Monkeys (73-43-39-37-33) 1,052,300 32. GREATEST HITS- Bon Jovi (16-30-31-29-31-31-30-32) 1,094,300 31. BORN TO DIE- Lana Del Rey (33-27-27-29-29-31) 1,109,900 A few albums here showing remarkable consistency. Bon Jovi are at their lowest position all decade but the difference between their best and worst positions is only 16 spots- not bad. Lana Del Rey had a new album to help with her back catalogue sales but Arctic Monkeys continue to improve on a 5 year old studio album with seemingly no effort. ccZgxmxm32k
January 6, 20187 yr Over 40 million sellers for the decade to date isn't bad at all! Did not know that 'AM' had sold so much, it must be their second best seller after their debut by now?! What is the lowest peaking million seller?
January 6, 20187 yr Over 40 million sellers for the decade to date isn't bad at all! Did not know that 'AM' had sold so much, it must be their second best seller after their debut by now?! What is the lowest peaking million seller? It’s not too bad but this time last decade, we had well over 100.
January 6, 20187 yr Midnight Memories sold 10k in almost 2 years, while TMH sold 14k... UK really loves Take Me Home the most, kings! surprised with guetta sales, almost a million seller Edited January 6, 20187 yr by Rafael x
January 6, 20187 yr 'AM' just seems to keep selling at the same level continuously, it's barely ever left the top 100 since its release. They must be due a new album soon?
January 7, 20187 yr it's barely ever left the top 100 since its release. The only week it was outside the top 100 was 15th Dec 2016. :o It is already 60 weeks ahead of the debut in terms of weeks in the Top 100. Edited January 7, 20187 yr by Colm

January 7, 20187 yr Author 25. 1989- Taylor Swift (33-28-25) 1,161,400 24. HALCYON- Ellie Goulding (51-26-22-22-24) 1,200,500 23. PURPOSE- Justin Bieber (70-25-23) 1,220,500 22. LUNGS- Florence & The Machine (8-11-16-17-19-20-20-21) 1,235,300 (T/S 1,751,100) Her recent album “Reputation” may not be off to the greatest of starts but “1989” continued to improve on this rundown for Taylor Swift. Ellie Goulding’s best fades a little as Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” pushes nearer the top 20- maybe next year? -CmadmM5cOk

MYLO XYLOTO- Coldplay (13-11-11-12-15-15-16) 1,536,700 Everything here drops just a spot to make way for you know who but it’s “Teenage Dream” which has the best 2018 thanks to new material for Perry. Not that that helped Plan B but 2018 should see a new album by him so there’s hope. 98WtmW-lfeE
January 8, 20187 yr Author 15. SIGH NO MORE- Mumford & Sons (10-10-13-12-13-14-14-15) 1,561,800 (T/S 1,713,800) 14. THE FAME/ MONSTER- Lady Gaga (3-5-9-10-11-13-13-14) 1,578,900 (T/S 2,967,900) 13. CRAZY LOVE- MICHAEL BUBLE (2-4-5-6-7-10-10-11) 1,938,100 (T/S 3,135,600) Another section where all the albums drop a place, Best sellers from Mumford & Sons, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars all appear but it’s only the first of three for Adele, and Michael Buble’s “Crazy Love” finally loses its top 10 placing though that is mainly to do with over a million of its sales coming in 2009 and thereby ineligible for this list. January 9, 20187 yr Author 10. LOUD- RIHANNA (4-3-3-5-5-9-9-10) 1,997,500 Debuting at No 2 behind Take That it took “Loud” seven weeks to top the charts but once it got into its stride the album spent its first 24 weeks in the top 10. By the end of December 2010 Rihanna had three singles in the top 10, quite an achievement, whilst this was flying off the shelf, it should reach 2 million during 2018. She did have the help of David Guetta, Drake, Ne-Yo, Timbaland, and Nicki Minaj to help on the album, pretty much a who’s who of pop in 2010. Performance in 2017: Did not chart in the top 100 during the year nhBorPm6JjQ
January 9, 20187 yr Author 09. +- ED SHEERAN (20-7-7-6-8-8-9) 2,324,300 Trailing in in 3rd place in the 2012 listings to the two Adele’s, Ed Sheeran’s debut album proper saw him catapulted into the “A List”ers of pop stars, no album on this list or indeed this decade has spent more weeks in the top 100 (301) than “+” and it’s also just one of five albums to spend a whole 52 wks in the top 10 (consecutive or otherwise). Performance in 2017: Was in the top 100 for all 52 weeks and top 10 for 4 weeks peaking at No 5 and selling 200,000 copies c4BLVznuWnU
