Posted January 8, 20187 yr I thought we may as well get a thread for this wonderful song given it's like coming to smash. It's #18 in the midweeks today and has only just been added to Hot Hits UK on Spotify as of an hour ago. 'This is Me' is an empowering song written around Keala's character Lettie Lutz who she plays wonderfully in the film. I saw Settle on Broadway last year and she's such a breathtaking and emotional performer. 'This is Me' won the Golden Globe for "best original song" last night which puts it on the right path for the Oscars. wEJd2RyGm8Q XLFEvHWD_NE
January 8, 20187 yr It's an actual anthem. Love that it's shaping up to be a genuine smash too  I keep rewatching that live recording... it gives me life. THAT HAIRFLIP!!!!
January 8, 20187 yr Really alsoran I can see why it does well - shame Katy Perry couldn't have timed her release wih this movie and released it as first single, like Demon Lavatory. It is more 'her' than her entire album!
January 8, 20187 yr Hope it can go top 10 eventually! One of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time !
January 8, 20187 yr Completely obsessed with this, a masterpiece lyrically and vocally   So happy this won the golden globe! Oscar next plz <3
January 8, 20187 yr This is absolutely incredible, hope it wins the Oscar  Definitely a highlight of the film. It is SO much better than the Kesha version which feels totally soulless and devoid of all the heart and passion that makes this such a powerful and honest song.
January 9, 20187 yr Author This is absolutely incredible, hope it wins the Oscar  Definitely a highlight of the film. It is SO much better than the Kesha version which feels totally soulless and devoid of all the heart and passion that makes this such a powerful and honest song. I had high hopes for the Kesha version because it's the kind of song I felt would maybe fit her situation, but I get the feeling it was rush-recorded without giving her any time to resonate with the song.
January 9, 20187 yr Keala's version is so epic. It's definitely my preferred version. Kesha's is... serviceable, but she sounds emotionally detached. (I actually heard Kesha's version first btw, so it's not like I was initially comparing it unfavourably to Keala's - even hearing Kesha's first I was a bit "hmm", but then I heard Keala's and was like, wow!).
January 11, 20187 yr She has released an EP of 6 songs today ‘Chapter One’ for those interested. Annoyingly though it’s just under ‘Keala’
January 15, 20187 yr I am genuinely surprised at how well this is doing on Spotify! I didn't think it'd touch the top 40, let alone spend as long as it has in the top 20! :o There still seems to be momentum behind it too, so I hope this can eventually go top 10, although I doubt it.
