Another awful game, we could still be playing next week and we wouldn't have scored.

Not sure what's wrong with Gyan but he's all over the place atm, had a gilt-edged chance to roll Wickham in to score, he was completely free in the area but Gyan took it on himself and shot it straight at the keeper. Poor play, i'd drop him for Chelsea and start Wickham (If, of course we haven't brought in another striker), who at least looks enthusiastic and interested.

Still unbeaten away from home for Carlisle and their second win on the bounce. Looks good now after a bad start against Notts County at home at the start of the season. Aldershot away in the Carling Cup midweek for us.

Brighton, newly promoted and at the top of the table? Have you gotten back to earth yet Suedehead?

Not quite :D :cheer:

And Liverpool at home coming up in the League Cup. That could make a double dose of Brighton on telly that week as the home game against Leeds is already scheduled for the Friday evening (23 Sep). That spoils an anniversary though as Brighton played Leeds on the day I was born (Sep 24 1960).

Really pleased for Brighton. I'm surprised they're doing so well, but they've an excellent manager in Poyet (he'll be a Premier League manager in a year whether it is with or without Brighton). Good draw in the league cup as well. Don't think they'll be getting past the third round tho :P I'm looking forward to the Leeds-Man Utd tie.
Losing the manager is always a worry. Poyet's name is bound to be mentioned when Premier League jobs become vacant. The big worry is that the Tottenham job comes up - either because Harry gets the England job next year or his court case goes horribly wrong for him. I'm sure that job would tempt him more than most.

I think Redknapp's going to be the FA's number one choice. I'm sure Poyet will be mentioned for the Spurs jon. Be interesting to see what happens. But he is a top manager.

Absolutely delighted with the display from Liverpool today - I was really excited for this season with them, they didn't live up to it with Sunderland. The Arsenal match was a big improvement, but we really shone as a team of eleven today.

Suarez really is a star. Sometimes, people have the potential to be overrated by pundits and commentators - but he really does not stop from start to finish. He looks knackered after like 25 minutes, but is relentless for the whole time he's on the pitch. Superb.

Liverpool were very very good. Bolton were very very bad mind. Zat Knight is absolutely atrocious. Up there with the worst central defenders in the league. Liverpool just look so fluqid when Suarez and Kuyt play up front. The front 6 players were all deadly. Every time they advanced with the ball I thought they going to score! Suarez is something special. A born winner, you can see it in him. He hates not scoring though (as seen by today).

I can't believe we have Liverpool in Carling Cup thats us out next round!! lol so hope I can get to go to the game though

Another 3 points and top of the Championship..sooooo glad we are doing well..hopefully can keep it up!!

All due respect for both London clubs but that was hilarious
As bad as Arsenal are they can throw as much money as they like at it and it won't help unless they sort out their two main problems; injuries and discipline. For years now they've had so many more injuries than all the other top teams. This surely isn't bad luck and it can't be coincidence either, it's something they have to sort. Two weeks into the season they were missing a whole team of players today, three games and three red cards plus another three match ban and Arshavin should've gone today too by all accounts. It's been their problem for such a long time today, they have to sort it. It's surely more of a priority than signing a defender because it's a long-term problem.

Well they want Cahill, but imo he's very very average. Certainly not worth the money that's been talked about. Only a few days left of the trasfer window and I don't see them re-investing the money from the two big sales. 8-2 is a very good score, and most United fans I've seen so far have been wanking themselves silly. Of course they deserve all the plaudits, but Arsenal are a mid-table team at the moment AT BEST. They're missing so many players through injury and suspension.

There's a long way to go, but I'd be very surprised if they finished in the Top 4.

If I heard right that's the first time Arsenal have conceded eight goals in a match since 1896 :o

Two very odd Manchester v North London games today. City won comfortably not because Tottenham were bad (they weren't) but because they themselves were very good. United weren't that good but Arsenal were very poor and disorganised.

As for their discipline problem, there was a time when they seemed to have sorted themselves out. It started around the time that they got their 50th red card under Wenger and all the bad publicity that stemmed from that. It seemed to shame him into doing something about it. Now things have deteriorated again. OK so today's red card for Jenkinson was for two yellows (both correct decisions) but played 3, red cards 3 (with another retrospective one) is an atrocious start.

By leaving it so late in the transfer window Arsenal were always risking seeing prices rise. After today's humiliation, potential sellers will see an opportunity to increase the asking price even more.

A lot of it is Wenger's philosophy. He pisses about signing players like Walcott (who's a one-trick pony) and Oxdale-Chameberlain. He needs some experience in his team, as those players took one hell of a beating today. The other side of North London will be happy that Arsenal's humiliation has kept them off the back of the press tomorrow. Arsenal need 2/3 players, although Man Utd today beat an Arsenal reserve team.

Redknapp continues to be a bloody fool as well. Single-handedly destroying Spurs by not letting Modric go. The guy's a bloody idiot.

Awful performance from Arsenal

People will say they had a young/reserve team out, but Coquelin is probably the only player included that you could say isn't 2nd choice. The rest will all play a significant part in the season e.g. injuries to Gibbs/Sagna meaning Traore/Jenkinson are next in line

Edit: and just as I post that I see that Traore is having a medical at QPR today
