She's just using her platform to put Kosovo on a map...and she's doing much better job than Kosovo politicians herself lol.

And all those people posting on her IG are just people who have nothing else going on and I am not expecting this to do any damage to her image!!!

Idk, I'm sure she didn't have bad intentions but the image she posted seems to be pretty heavily associated with far right ultranationalists which isn't really a great look for her.

I'm also not an expert on this obviously but the main point of contention seems to be that the map is claiming territory as part of a 'Greater Albania' in areas that have no history of being Albanian.

There's been a bit of otherBalkan-Albanian tension in recent days from what I've seen, a Republika Srpska politician posting a tweet that began 'Albanians should be accepted as equal human beings, but...', the North Macedonian elections (where an Albanian party is needed to finish the coalition of government but the main Albanian party has ruled out going with the two biggest parties), and now this...

It's likely she does hold the views that Albanians should unite to be in a state separate from the ethnicities around who clearly hate them. Couldn't ascribe any further meaning to that. I doubt she wants bloodshed, I don't think that a hypothetical Greater Albania would be necessarily worse to non-Albanians living there - most of those borders do just go into Albanian ethnic territory - than the countries bordering them already are to Albanians living in their territory. But yes, it does have some dodgy associations, mostly because to achieve those borders would require a bloody war.

gotta love it when a pop star starts an ethnicity argument

Yeap.

The map shows all the territories where albanians live today but also historically land that were axed from Albania centuries ago. Of course if you ask those from neighboring countries historically albanians never existed  so longstory short, it's complicated and none of us should really judge her for having feelings about it!!! I am sure she is as much frustrated as majority of Albanians and especially Kosovo people for constantly fighting for recognition.

It's really deeper than just one post.

Sorry for getting emotional myself as well since it's really sensitive topic.

This is a very wide topic to be honest. I also can't give any proper opinion because I'm not truly informed about the matter, but I don't think Dua wanted to post something negative or imply the Greater Albania movement in the Balkans, despite that picture can say otherwise.

So North Macedonia politically is basically like Northern Ireland then in that parties of both ethnicities are needed to form a government?

I have thought it a bit strange that Kosovo became independent and didn't just join with Albania.

I’m trying my best to understand the Albania/Kosovo situation but it’s something that requires more than 5 minutes of googling to have even a remote idea of it. I’ve some people try their best to cancel her but I’m not convinced she’s done anything wrong. Apparently her opinion as extremely common in Albania.

No, it's just that the most recent election last week ended up with the two biggest general parties short of a majority and the two Albanian-interest parties (third and fourth) each have enough seats to get either of the big parties over the line - but the third-placed one made their coalition demand 'have an Albanian as PM', which was refused and now I'm not sure what's going on, just that their next government will need to have Albanian ethnic party in government or fresh elections.

The Kosovo situation is very delicate and would very likely, I think, become incredibly volatile if Kosovo just became part of Albania, that's even less likely than Serbia recognising Kosovo.

Nice and expected to see Dua issue a PR thing about it anyway.
