Liking "Miracle" on first listen - is this the new single, or just a grat/buzz?

They did say on Radio 1 last night that this is a single

Fab, good choice then. I take it the collab with The National was a grat/buzz.

They're filming a video for something at the moment! It'll be the first proper video of the era surprisingly!

First listen to the album: disappointed. All a bit samey. Neither as daring as their first album nor as energetic as their second.

Hopefully it will be a grower. Standout tracks are unfortunately still Get Out and My Enemy.

Had this on on my way to work this morning. Graffiti is a great opener and definitely needs to be a single at some point. I agree with Jupiter, the album is definitely lacking that oomph that made Every Open Eye special.
Love love love love love this album! Its not spectacular but its so seamless and flows so nicely, its just lush  LOVE Never Say Die and Deliverance in particular of the new tracks

The more I hear this album, the more I love it.

Currently, 'Graves' is THAT SONG.

What a B A N G E R

This album is so incredibly disappointing. Graffiti is pretty good, Heaven/Hell is decent and Wonderland is nice, but on balance it feels horribly phoned-in, the production is nothing special at all (whereas Every Open Eye glittered and shimmered constantly in delightful and unexpected ways) and Lauren sounds bored.

Such a shame. The crap #7 debut is all it deserved.

I've given this a first listen (a bit overshadowed by Snow Patrol and then Shawn Mendes releases) - I quite enjoyed it, though wasn't blown away. Track 1 "Graffiti" sounds like an obvious single to me.

It's not a good sign that I'd rather go back to the tracks from the previous two albums. I'm sure there are a few that'll grow on me though, it's sounding like a less essential copy of EOE right now. Graves and Forever are sounding promising I suppose. And God's Plan is good for the token male-vocalled track, some really nice production on that.

But yes, they could be more than this.

^Give it a few more listens, it's hard to tell with the other albums having the advantage of you (and me!) knowing them well already.

I'm only halfway through on my 1st listen but I've loving Never Say Die right now. Graffiti and Get Out were great too. Miracle's great too.

The general sound/ vibe is maybe a little safe (so yeah, quite like Every Open Eye) but on the whole a really solid effort, the kind of awesome output I expect from CHVRCHES. This is only after listening to half of it but it'd be good to see more experimentation on their next one perhaps. I know artists can't win, they change, people want their old stuff, they don't, people want something different haha. Adore what I've heard so far though, it does have a distinct sound from EOE despite being quite similar.

EOE was the artist winning though - building on their popular sound and improving on it so that it wasn't too different from what we liked them for at first, but better, with some really incredible deft pop touches, particularly the highs of Empty Threat and Clearest Blue. Euphoric improvement. The problem is that it was gonna be hard to follow this up without a left-field change of sound and unfortunately they've gone the safe route which is less satisfying.

I agree with what Jark said, see if Every Open Eye didn't exist, this would feel really good but comparing one's production to the other, this doesn't feel nearly as exciting, particularly like Get Out and Graffiti which are just quite boring. And given EOE's probably the pop album I've played the most over the last few years, I should be bored of it and be eager to pick up something new.

though now I've said that I'm starting to be impressed with the production on Never Say Die so you may be right idk
