Jade's bump of this topic reminded me that I hadn't finished this! Her wish comes true, Spice Up Your Life is the winner of the Spice Girls Singles Artwork Rate! :cheer:  A very clear winner it is too, finishing 40 points ahead of the runner up, Mama / Who Do You Think You Are.

Interestingly BuzzJack's two favourite artworks were shot by the same photographer, John Rankin Waddell (known professionally as Rankin).

Mama / Who Do You Think You Are used the same picture for CD1/CD2. CD1 (leopard print logo) was released in a digipak format. I think those of you who own this will know what I mean when I say that the format is unconventionally shaped, with it being taller and less wide than a typical CD single size. CD2 (red logo) was released in a normal CD single jewel case, and additionally made note of the fact it was that year's Comic Relief single. I really like the "backwards chair" posing, a concept they'd later use during the Spiceworld tour during their performance of Naked! I also like Geri is doing the Girl Power/peace sign, so iconic! The only other cover where one of the girls is doing a peace sign is Mel B on Stop (unless you count Geri's fairy on Viva Forever!).

Spice Up Your Life is my personal favourite cover, so I'm very pleased that it's won! There's something about this picture which I think perfectly captures the essence of the Spice Girls, at the height of their fame. Emma's knee length socks and platforms *.* Geri's extremely "Ginger Spice" looking outfit (is it a swimsuit or a corset? Negligee? Lol), and Victoria somehow looking incredibly Posh and sophisticated in a see-through dress. I really liked the Spiceworld era group logo with the dots, which adds to the vibrancy of the artwork with a different colour for each letter of 'Spice'. CD1 was released in a CD single jewel size case, while CD2 was released in a digipak format. The one thing I dislike about this single release is the decision for CD2 to feature a tiny picture of the group! As far as I'm aware an HQ of this particular shot has never surfaced. :drama:

Thanks very much to those of you who contributed to this, whether you ranked, commented or just read this thread!

Jay thanks for this!!

I feel like Spice Up Your Life is a deserving winner indeed. It's a gorgeous cover that encapsulates the song perfectly. Didnt know it was Rankin who did the pictures, thats' great! Rankin is one of the best photographers in the world

Slightly sad that Stop and Holler covers are not in the top 3 as they are SO f***IN GOOD!!

Thanks Jay. I've really enjoyed this rank. You are so knowledgable.

And I'm really pleased with the outcome. The top 8 are all very dear to my heart.

'Spice Up Your Life' is perfection!

Love the Mama's Artwork with leopard print logo

What do you think about a Spice girls video's Rank? Including: Wannabe Alternate Promo Version, WDYTYA with Sugar Lumps, Too Much with and without movie frames, the England United's video, It's only rock'n'roll and IYWHSF?

Sorry if this is OT
