sam smith - too good at goodbyes also had a video
This is growing, though the bleep out line and it sounding like "FRINDS" are a bit irritating!
Felt nothing at all towards this on first hearing. Not good & not bad - but something I'll probably skip on the Chart Show.
This is really growing on me but it's not dance at all and you'd never guess it's Marshmello. It would've been cool to hear her on a dance banger but this is a bloody good pop song if nothing else, reminds me of a slicker and sassier Don't by Ed Sheeran actually.

Comparing my new favourite Anne Marie song to my favourite Ed song :kink: Lyrically you’re spot on there though

I would say it was dance-pop then, which is still under the pop umbrella. I think you can still tell a bit its Marshmello, the 'video-game' type synths at the buildup to the last chorus that were mentioned on this thread and the EDM trap influence with the 'hey hey hey' in the background of the chorus.

Thank goodness he didn't go generic future bass for this one!

Its way better than Don't imo, although I get why it has been compared on here in terms of style.

This really isn't a dance song

Its not pure pop either, which is why I said dancepop.

As Cody said though it doesn't matter what genre it is, it sounds great imo and I too hope it does well in the charts (and contributes to the demise of boring imo tropical pop and future bass being chart trends with its different sound in the process).

Indeed, genre-lising every single song isn't really necessary in 2018. Hybrids and all that.
On what planet?

I think cqmerqn was being sarcastic.

Good, can we please stop with the 'it's dance, it's not'.

Its obvious cqmerqn was being sarcastic though  at least I think so! ;)

Friends reminds me of the early 00s when pop was more dancey and upbeat sounding than it is now!

Ngl I don't care what genre it is it's just a good song  As said in 2018 there's loads of influences from all corners so it isn't really necessary to label and box everything in.
