I think it will be great, they know what their fans like. I do not worry for the album and single. When I saw the three walking into the golden sky I thought I would have ;oved them to be 5 or at least 4. But this is memory

That teaser video on Twitter is giving me all the 'Beautiful World' era teas!

 

They are performing on Chris Evans' breakfast show on Radio 2 tomorrow so I have a feeling we're gonna get a new single tomorrow.

Yes! Very Beautiful World-esc! They’ve teased the title ‘Odyssey’...I wonder if that’s the single name, or maybe the album?

 

 

Beautiful World-esc would be a fantastic direction for them.

In marge, it is what the fans want from them.

The Greatest Hits album is called Odyssey. A 27 track album over two discs, with three brand new tracks and featuring special guests.

The Odyssey version of Pray is available now, so it appears that this Greatest Hits is an album of re-recordings? I'm not keen on the new version.

It picks up from the middle-eight, and it's interesting to hear Pray as a string-laden big ballad, but I'm not sure about the first half of the song at the moment.

 

Nevertheless, very interested to see what the other reworkings will sound like.

I havnt heard the new version of Pray yet, is this a fully fledged single as its top 40 on iTunes now.

I am just going to have a listen of it now.

Not sure what’s happening on the single front...I thought they would have released that, rather than a re-recording.

 

I like the new Pray, but prefer the older one. It’s a little too slow I think!

 

Clever in a way to rework these songs, so it doesn’t cannibalise the Ultimate Collection.

I much prefer the original.

This version loses everything i liked about Pray.

This in a way is killing my vibe for the new Greatest Hits.

If all the songs are slowed down like this i may give purchasing the album a miss until it is reduced in price.

 

One of the new tracks, (if they are good) would have been better to release as single to promote the collection.

The new versions wont take away sales from the Ultimate Collection but it could likely help it sell if people just want the original versions.

 

This re-working also allows a move in the future to release a new Ultimate Collection including original versions of the songs since they reformed.

It wouldn't hit #1 for 4 weeks put it that way .... however it's a different style, not full on pop, so has served it's purpose in that way. I think the originals are so familiar at this point it will take a few spins to get used to not listening out for certain parts in newer versions.

 

I agree with above doing the hits this way has opened up opportunity for studio versions of the newer tracks to be a potential future possibility and so they have been clever in that respect.

 

I wish they took a gamble on the European leg and gone to nations like Poland and Portugal where they have never toured. Though France is a big market and at least they will have finally done a proper tour date there in Paris next year.

I’m interested to see what tracks they have selected for the album. 27 tracks is an odd number for a 2cd set. I’ve heard the new version of pray, it’s different but think that kinda appeals as I already have all their old songs so nice to get different versions instead of the same tracks.

So 24 tracks plus the 3 new tracks. Will be interested to see the track list!

 

Wasn’t too keen on this version of Pray, but after a couple of listens it’s grown on me! Pippa, give it a couple of listens back to back

I am going to invest some time in listening to it back to back over the weekend and my opinion may change.

Oh I'm 50 50 on this just now, I see where they are going with the album but I'm not sure if this will be an album il listen to or will it be for the collection only.

I’ll reserve judgement for now, but after a few listens I really like Pray. A new take on one of my favourite songs.

 

I imagine Sure will be rearranged into the Swing version, but trying to think how they’ll do others. Wonder if Rob re-recorded Could it Be Magic and Everything Changes
