February 28, 20187 yr There's no one genre I won't watch tbh, there is at least one or two of any one I like. Westerns used to bore me, but Jane Got A Gun saved the genre.

April 6, 20187 yr I'm quite egocentric with my film taste which basically means that I have to be able to relate to the film. So I err towards character-focused dramas set in a world that's not too far from the one I know, generally with plenty of dialogue. Having said that, there's loads of sci-fi and historical films that I love. Visually-focused, 'style over substance' films which deliberately avoid any social realism whatsoever can also be great. The Neon Demon is a recent highlight. I feel like I'm not answering the question but I'm just trying to explain why I love Boyhood but hate Transformers. And can't get into the Coen Brothers or Wes Anderson. Edited April 6, 20187 yr by Harve
April 7, 20187 yr Costume dramas don't really appeal to me. I'm also not keen on Westerns, although one of my favourite ever films is Blazing Saddles, and I did enjoy Unforgiven & Django Unchained. Although those three films all subverted the Western genre in different ways. I'd also add war films into that as well, can only think of one or two that I actively enjoyed, like Hacksaw Ridge.
