Yeah I understand Wow but you'd think Sunflower was pop enough for this NOW. But maybe they can't licence it.

I would imagine they’ll still include urban No.1s/long running top 3s like Funky Friday/Barking, which truly ingrained into the public consciousness.

But I can see sort of see their point excluding anything like that that didn’t really cross over hugely and is going to be both unknown and unappealing to the majority of Now buyers.

Options probably had a good case to be on here (and Post Malone, but as mentioned that may be a licensing issue), but I don’t think any of the others can be argued to be truly shocking omissions - even if they probably merit more of a place than Bryan Adams and the Now 2 tracks

Sunflower isn't an urban song whatsoever, if it was by any pop artist it would be on here.

I can't see them going back to urban songs after this. Most of the comments on their Facebook are people happy there's no rap songs, it's a different market to that.

It's also from a Soundtrack, and Soundtrack songs are more complicated to license straight away. Soundtrack singles main goal is to sell the full album, which itself promotes the movie that is out at the time. Plus you'd also need to get licensing from the Soundtrack label as well as the artists label (most of the time they're the same label). By the time this all gets settled it is usually too late and the songs lose their popularity. Shallow and The Greatest Showman songs were added because they're still in the charts and the movies have now made their money from the box office and the soundtrack so they aren't concerned about other albums using the songs.

The Now 2 tracks really make it look like a joke though which is disappointing. They could've easily fit six other current songs in especially now that they're not limiting themselves to actual chart hits.
Now That’s What I Call A Joke.

Hi and Bye.

With that disappointing tracklist, NOW 2 might beat NOW 102 to the top of the compilation chart

I think it’ll be close. I presume Now 2 will be limited edition like Now 1 was?

I don’t think it will. NOW 1 ain’t exactly limited edition as amazon and HMV are still selling it

In that case could sell close to 100,000 that week. I still think they should of split the release dates up and not put Now 2 and 102 out ok the same day.

I agree. They should push the release date of 2 a week forward then both albums get turns at the top of the chart. Oh, and if they really wanted to include six tracks from 2 on 102, they could have at least included one or two songs which only appeared on the video version of the album

I don't see Now 2 selling that well at all. I know Now 1 was already re-released in 2009, but the 2018 release of it didn't turn in amazing numbers at all. Maybe it can do 25-30k if it's lucky but even that is a big ask in the dead compilation market of today.

And I could see Now 102 managing 75k at a push in the first week maybe? It's just such an odd tracklist so who knows how receptive the market will be to it.

What a mess. I'll skip 102 too. I like nothing on disc 2 except "Girls Just Wanna Have fun", which I just got on Now 100 Hits 80s.

I bet they had to do terrible edits to fit 25 songs on disc 1 too.

Or unnecessary edits. With the songs these days getting shorter, they’ll probably manage to squeeze it on without edits

Also, NOW 2 is available to pre order on iTunes and it says "Radio Ga Ga", "Undercover Of The Night", "New Moon On Monday" and "Pipes Of Peace" are remastered

Yeah, looking at iTunes, a lot of the songs are under three minutes to begin with.

And it looks like every song on NOW 102 has been left as they are, no unnecessary edits apart from Jack Savoretti’s song being a radio edit instead of the full version

I bought Now 1 but won't buy Now 2 as the tracklist is nowhere near as strong.

I’m just gonna hope that NOW 103 is a big improvement on the disaster that is NOW 102. Things I’m gonna wanna see on 103 include no snubbing urban seeing how popular it’s becoming at the moment, more hits, less flops, no songs which are over a year old and let’s hope we actually get Billie Eilish too. It’s like when NOW 87 had no songs from the Warner label and then they all appeared on NOW 88
