Why the Lauv omission? Surely that's not gonna be too big in the future to warrant a hold back for Now 103?

A shame as it could easily have featured :(

wtf is that disc 2 tracklist omg

I know. Anything for them to snub urban music

Now surprise us once again! Would have preferred the usual set-up however as has been echoed, this new solution make sense. So I'm guessing Now 103 will have 6 tracks from Now 3, and so forth? Probably in the minority, but I doubt I will listen to much of disc 2, just not my thing. Disc 1 is strong though!

Of the omissions, I don't like most of the urban stuff so not a problem. It is a shame however there is no Sunflower. Could Billie Eilish feature on future albums? Was kinda hoping for Desire by Sub Focus & Dimension given its moderate size. But given its chart peak, I knew it was extremely unlikely.

The people who mostly listen to urban music aren't the same sort of people who buy the albums. It makes sense.

It makes sense to tap into the Radio2/album market. But not to include 6 songs from 35 years ago because....I don’t know why.

There were other songs they could have gotten to fill those gaps.

It really does sadden me to see this series turned into a joke.

These are the omissions from this weeks chart. (Taken from a comment on the Now post on Facebook)

Lizzo, Billie x2 and 2nd Ava could def appear on 103 though... def a smart move ignoring Urban (unless they're massive) going into the future, so I don't mind that, but things like Lauv & Kehlani are sad omissions. Partivularly the former imo.

They only included one urban song (Cardi B). They could have included one more urban song (Cadet) for two reasons: one because it was in the top 40 for ages and two as a tribute and for one of the NOW 2 tracks, they could replace "Relax" with another NOW 2 track seeing as it’s also had other appearances on numbered NOWs. I think Jenny Fisher has lost the plot. Bring Ashley Abram back

I think the NOW team should focus more on actual pop and songs that have that commercial appeal instead of relying on urban music and other filler stuff. They're very influential and so adding songs you don't usually come across might be very beneficial for them. Plus the target audience will probably enjoy "yet-to-be-discovered" pop songs that well known Urban songs.

At least Hold Me Now has some vague relevance with the Black Mirror Bandersnatch episode but still...those six Now 2 songs are looking so random  Maybe one token track from it would make sense, but six is odd.

It's like they've decided that the reason behind the recent sales dive of the albums must be all the grime/rap/hip-hop music. So the genre has now been completely erased from the series! I can see the downward trend continuing sadly.

That’s awful welp

3 TGS songs on one Disc is weird too, they could’ve swapped the two James Arthur songs to make D2 a bit less soundtracky. But still wtf

There are enough non urban/grime songs around that could have been included over the Now 2 songs. Just because they weren’t too 40 hits, Dido, Busted and Foals have had respectfully charting albums. That’s the market they should go for. The Now 2 thing just makes the look as desperate as they truly are.

Imagine if they’d done something like this 15 years ago? They never would have.

The Post Malone snub is very odd too, surely they could license Sunflower by now if they could get TGS tracks? And Wow was also a big hit (though maybe that is considered too urban now).

It’s urban which is what they’re snubbing this volume. I just hope that they don’t snub any urban from 103

Sunflower isn't an urban song whatsoever, if it was by any pop artist it would be on here.

I can't see them going back to urban songs after this. Most of the comments on their Facebook are people happy there's no rap songs, it's a different market to that.

I’m not saying to have too much urban, just a bit. Only the ones which were major hits including Cadet due to his tragic demise. And that might explain why "Boasty" ain’t on there unless they’re saving it for 103

Edited by Hadji

I'm not sure if the audience buying the albums would even know who Cadet was or that he died - though it would've been good to see him there.

When I brought it up to people, noone I asked had even heard of the song.

I imagine we'll only be getting Drake, if they're snubbing Posty.
