Posted April 2, 20187 yr ABBA GOLD: SURVIVOR I’ve taken it upon myself to launch my own survivor poll type thing, this one is for one of the biggest selling album of all times and also (sort of) coincides with the buzz around Mamma Mia again. The rules are simple please vote for YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE and every couple of days I will eliminate the song with the most votes until we have a winner. LATEST ELIMINATED dQsjAbZDx-4 11th Place - Fernando (14/31 votes, 45.16%) 12th Place - Money Money Money (11/34 votes, 32.35%) 13th Place - Super Trouper (8/39 votes, 20.51% FLASH VOTE: 12/22 votes, 54.55%) 14th Place - Chiquitita (6/34 votes, 17.65%) 15th Place - Thank You For The Music (16/36 votes, 44.44%) 16th Place - One of Us (11/32 votes, 34.38%) 17th Place - Does Your Mother Know (9/29 votes, 31.03%) 18th Place - The Name Of The Game (10/28 votes, 37.04%) 19th Place - I Have A Dream (6/23 votes, 26.09%) Finally it's time for 'Fernando' to leave after being runner up for a while and surviving the flash vote against 'Super Trouper'. 'Fernando' was the group's first non-album single. It was released in 1976 and went on to became one of the biggest selling singles (physically) worldwide, up until last year it was the longest running number one in Australia with fourteen weeks, until Ed Sheeran's 'Shape Of You' went one better. In the UK, the song held the #1 slot for four weeks knocking off Brotherhood Of Man's "Save Your Kisses For Me" and held off J.J. Barrie's "No Charge" for two weeks. No one came close to 'Fernando' this round which left us with a up-tempo heavy Top 10, next in line was 'Waterloo' with 5 votes, 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' had 3. 'Dancing Queen','Lay All Your Love On Me' and 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' each picked up double points. 'Mamma Mia', 'The Winner Takes It All' and 'SOS' all had the single detractor, whilst 'Voulez-Vous' and 'Take A Chance On Me' left the round scot-free.
April 2, 20187 yr ‘Knowing you knowing me’ again! I like Fernando, don’t get what BuzzJack has against it
April 7, 20187 yr Alan Partridge and Mamma Mia movie have a lot to answer for ruining one of the greatest and most heartbreaking pop songs of all time...outrageous! Waterloo is fun - but it's not genius :P
April 10, 20187 yr I'll always be at a loss as to the dislike for Fernando....also the dislike for Waterloo, the song that shot ABBA to stardom in the Eurovision contest of 1974....and the conductor actually walking out dressed as Napoleon was a scream.... EDIT: Voted for Lay All Your Love On Me..... Edited April 10, 20187 yr by bigwiglaf
