April 9, 20187 yr Releasing multiple formats or streaming and restreaming is basically the same thing. You could argue acts releasing singles with an added rapper (for instance all of Little Mix's post album singles) is just another way of getting a hit and getting fans to re-purchase the same song albeit slightly tweaked. Its the way charts are and as people have said people are happy for some artists to 'play the game' but not for others as its down to who they like/ support.
April 9, 20187 yr was it 22 in midweeks of first week? and finished 47th its holding up well on iTunes and is being streamed more this week than the rest of the first week so could hold on to 39th or 40th position...... Streaming data is missing for the whole week though, so Dancing doesn't stand much chance.
April 9, 20187 yr 6 pages before we even have an official first set of midweeks. The power of Kylie, and signed cassettes, I guess.
April 9, 20187 yr Author This thread  can you really BLAME Kylie's label for wanting a #1? Who WOULDN'T want a #1 album? Especially when she's so close to getting one, too! Releasing 1k cassettes isn't desperation, it's a marketing tactic and obviously the fans are fine with that as they've sold out. It's not like Kylie's holding people at gunpoint, telling them to buy her album. (I would say the exact same if it were Ed or Drake, for the record)
April 9, 20187 yr Probably a daft question but if I bought the package on the website with the picture disc, the deluxe CD and cassette does that count as 3 sales or just the 1 when it comes to adding to the chart tally?
April 9, 20187 yr Kylie #5 on Apple Music album chart - think it was #12 on Friday, so her streaming numbers must be improving??
April 9, 20187 yr Streaming data is missing for the whole week though, so Dancing doesn't stand much chance. It'll probably end up at #47 again
April 9, 20187 yr I don't know why I'm defending the album so much because I think it's pretty lacklustre (Dancing aside) but even without the bundles (if you took off 15kish sales), she'd still probably have the #1 on lock this week, so I don't see the big deal. Also you have to bear in mind Kylie is NOT Drake, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix or Rag N Bone Man. She's an aging female popstar, who is way passed her radio relevance and gets no streaming. You can't really compare tactics of her to those artists at all.

April 9, 20187 yr Is there any chance Drake won't be #01 somehow?! Calvin might get a slight head start but I'm worried that won't be enough.
April 9, 20187 yr Author Is there any chance Drake won't be #01 somehow?! Calvin might get a slight head start but I'm worried that won't be enough. At this rate I can still see Freaky Friday being #1 - Drake isn't that far ahead on Spotify and Freaky Friday is ahead on iTunes. Think it could be close though!
April 9, 20187 yr What actually were the sales of Stevie McCrorie's single for comparison? Wow at The Courteeners shifting over 10k with what appears to just be a re-recorded version of one of their old albums. Who knew they had such a committed fanbase ~
April 9, 20187 yr Ed Sheeran out of Top 8 Albums shock, assume he is #9 - and he will somehow be Top 5 by the end of the week.
April 9, 20187 yr Digital Sales Data wasn't far off with its 12k estimate for Ruti then! Lol at her being the midweek #1 due to lack of streaming data. Doing a lot better than Mo Jamil last year though, could even reach the overall top ten which is surprising. Great to see Calvin & Dua smashing it at #2  Hope they can hold that position (behind Lil Dicky who I presume is #1 when factoring in Spotify) though Drake could easily overtake. Would be nice if Kylie could stay top 40 for Friday but seems unlikely. Glad she'll definitely be #1 over another week of TGS anyway in the albums chart.
April 9, 20187 yr I don’t see anything wrong with record companies exploiting the chart rules and their fans for a chart position by any means.
April 9, 20187 yr Author What actually were the sales of Stevie McCrorie's single for comparison? 39,175 in week 1 :magic:
