April 10, 20187 yr I can't @ people thinking that TGS could beat Kylie with those sales Kylie fans are delusional even when they shouldn't I mean she has it in the bag now seeing as her sales have held up during the week. But that wasn't guaranteed, and if you look at last week TGS sold 18k Tues - Thurs so there was always room for doubt.
April 10, 20187 yr Don't think Drake will be able to catch up after all! Calvin may even be safe for #02 potentially which is pleasing. Good to see Answerphone looks likely to stay Top 40 and M.O have a chance of reaching a new peak as well!
April 10, 20187 yr If that is the case then why didn't Diplomatic Immunity emulate the same success? Im not a fan of most of his songs (except the Take Care Era) but I admit they do have a catchy element to it I don't know how blatant sarcasm has to be for no one to think it was serious x 'Diplomatic Immunity' is an actual example of a song that only charted because of it being a new Drake song, it doesn't have a memorable hook and was really only released for the fans and not intended to be a big hit in itself. And indeed, it only charted highly for a week before falling off.
April 10, 20187 yr Nines Top 40 :o it really does seem like just about any British rapper can casually make the top 40 now, I've never heard anything of his before and this one isn't all that great on a first listen. There's a lot better stuff out there like the new Kojo Funds, Yxng Bane, MoStack and Yungen songs.
April 10, 20187 yr I really hope Ruti can stay Top 10, and Kylie Top 40 for Dancing. I'm not really a Kylie fan, but her new album is excellent.
April 10, 20187 yr Anyway, amazing to see Calvin holding on to #2 and I also really like the new Drake song though I'm glad Calvin is doing better. And Cardi B making the top 40 too. :D 'Be Careful' is a bit of a tune, tempted to say it's a step up from 'Bartier Cardi' (though it's no 'Bodak Yellow') but it needs a few more listens first.
April 10, 20187 yr Author Is Paloma Make Your Own Kind of Music now outside top 40 :( Yup, would've been in the update otherwise! :P
April 10, 20187 yr Anyways, I guess Lil Dicky is probably coming for a second week at #1 then, hopefully Calvin and/or Drake can climb to the top in the coming weeks. At least we are gonna be getting 2 great new entries in the top 3. it really does seem like just about any British rapper can casually make the top 40 now, I've never heard anything of his before and this one isn't all that great on a first listen. There's a lot better stuff out there like the new Kojo Funds, Yxng Bane, MoStack and Yungen songs. Nines already had a top 5 album, he's not a brand new randomer. I think Ramz aside all the British rappers breaking through (at least to the top 40) are people who have been big in the underground for a while already and are just now getting a mainstream breakthrough.
April 10, 20187 yr I was hoping it was missed  Tbf #42 is pretty impressive given "Crybaby" only made #36!

Oh I was aware, just pointing out that we get a lot more British rappers making the top 40 singles now when not that long ago they'd just have underground hits and maybe a top 10 album.

But that wasn't guaranteed, and if you look at last week TGS sold 18k Tues - Thurs so there was always room for doubt. But last week was special for TGS (Easter + Full Monty). The moment Kylie crossed 30k there was hardly any doubt that she couldn't beat TGS. Edited April 10, 20187 yr by SKOB
April 10, 20187 yr I feel as though 'One Kiss' will probably overtake Little Dicky next week, and if not the week after (when they perform it on Graham Norton). After that (In 3 weeks) Ariana releases, and will, no matter how the song sounds, probably have a huge first week in the UK - I really can't see her not debuting at #1. So for the next 3 weeks it really depends on how this Drake song holds up, it could very well keep Calvin/Dua at #2 even if they do overtake 'Freaky Friday'
April 10, 20187 yr Where did 'Stop Me From Falling' fall to? #65 I love how the song can also act as a plea for Kylie to stop falling down the chart.

I'd never heard anything from B Young either prior to 'Jumanji' but Nines has been around for a few years now like you mention. I really like the Nines song that's in the chart at the moment, not as obviously commercial as other UK rap hits.
