Do you all think Ed Sheeran's star is on the wane now, seems like it! He needs to come back with a different style and not ballads for his next album.

On the wane? He just had Christmas number 1 with a song that spent multiple weeks at number 1 and was from a multi-million selling album. Sure, the new versions helped but it was already almost number 1 before they were released. Let's not ask silly questions

What? End Game flopped because Taylor’s campaign has been a series of flops, it did great on Spotify at first but Radio didn’t touch it for months as has been the case for most of her era thus far.

Candle In The Wind isn’t being pushed as a single (or so far hasn’t) and even then it’s from a cover album so obviously it’s not storming the chart. For an album track from an album basically no one in the world was looking forward to, going Top 20 in iTunes on its first week is pretty good. Miley Cyrus has two songs on the Elton albums that haven’t done anything but that doesn’t mean she’s becoming irrelevant :rofl. Same goes for anyone else on the albums.

I’ll never not be impressed by how much Buzzjack claims to hate Ed Sheeran :’)

His Elton John cover did nothing. His collaboration with Taylor Swift, End Game, flopped. It's been a terrible year for Ed. I feel sorry for him.

I would argue Anne-Marie is saving Ed Sheeran's career. Much like how Christina Aguilera saved Maroon 5's career.

Who dragged you up from the dead?

also, bare in mind that the elton cover was only available on itunes for half a day then it was made album only

I think he's the opposite of being on the wane ;) see even an idiotic song written by him like 2002, where he again uses all the silly topics and keeps writing like if he were 15 years of age is gonna be a massive hit

I think it's definitely time for Ed to retire graciously and not release any more music that might tarnish his legacy. The glory days will never return so best to go breed horses or make cheese or something.
Ed Sheeran on the wane  Christ. Candle In The Wind did nothing because it was just for a tribute album, not to mention it was released in 2015 already I'm pretty sure but is included on this anyway. Nobody, not even Drake, Ed or Justin Bieber can get hits with absolutely ANYTHING they release, even features and random compilation things.
I can't even tell if people are being serious or just trolling with these posts.

 on the wane.... Seriously

I hope Ed goes on to be even bigger just to piss off the people here.

think Ed said he was gonna go all alternative for the next album

but he cited Coldplay as example, so his concept of alternative might be not the same as most people ;)

sure but don't call coldplay alternative M;)

Isn't his stuff just Colplay meets Westlife anyway?

Tbf, I really don't dislike Ed as much as others seem to. His albums can be quite a chore to get through, but he has at least 3 tracks per album that I go back to.

However, I do think he has a habit of being as cliched as they come when it comes to writing songs sometimea I think it works ('Photograph', 'Thinking Out Loud') but then most times, not quite as well.

Tbh, I don't blame Anne-Marie/her team for picking an Ed Sheeran song and it's actually really catchy for what it is, even if it is obvious that it's one that Ed wrote and threw away/put in the demo pile coz he had better for himself.

I like '2002'. The lyrics don't bother me as much as they seem to bother others, but I understand why not a lot of people like it/have certain issues with them. (That's ignoring the fact that if your a fan of Anne-Marie, then it must be annoying for her to be getting a hit with something that's not her style/represents her as an artist or whatever haha)

In my blood video coming tonight. Maybe it will help him for next week top 10. Weird move to release in the middle of the week but fine.

Mid-week video releases always have bigger effects than Friday/weekend ones.

It's coming at 5pm BST. Excited. Great timing for UK. I imagine his promo boosts are wearing off now, but the video will hopefully impact enough to send him top 5 on iTunes again!

It's worth noting that Anne-Marie is also listed as a writer herself, so I think it's more than an Ed castaway imo! It's also not a million miles away from Anne-Marie's own stuff, I think it slots in much more closely alongside Alarm/Ciao Adios/FRIENDS than Heavy did (it also reminds me a little of one of the other album tracks, Perfect, which I've heard live a couple of times).

I can understand some of the lyric criticisms but I do think 2002 is getting quite a hard time on here!
