How sad that he supposedly had a bigger impact for music consumers than Avicii, but I'm not surprised at all.

Half expecting his first posthumous single to be a serious number one contender too...

XXXTENTACION getting supported like this is seriously messed up - I'm going to put anyone on ignore who can't comprehend that.

Especially as Dan says, Avicii didn't get this level of support and he was dealing with mental health issues and was genuinely talented.

And XXX wasn't?

Oh the hypocrisy

Pretty sure Avicii didn't beat women to near death or was homophobic. There's a difference. If you can't see it, you're thick.

but that doesn't show xxx was more popular than avicii, just shows that dance is less favoured than urban on spotify

and that spotify is dominated by teens

thats not a reflection of popularity of any kind, just shows what a very very narrow percentage of kids are streaming

Meh, I still think it's backwards, no matter how you look at it. I'll keep my opinions to myself :')

No, I agree with you.

I know, but Lil Peep didn't get this much of a Spotify boost when he died of a drug overdose, nor did his posthumous Marshmello collaboration do much in the chart. I think X being so controversial has really boosted curiosity streams anyhow, I don't really think he made as big of an impact as Avicii in real terms hence my use of the word supposedly.

This furthers my point that I don't really believe Spotify is necessarily a definitive measure of overall popularity or impact in the real world.

Was the XXX playlist dedicated to him on there more promoted/prominent than the Avicii one was?
