I welcome this news.

Kate Oates should be able to turn the show around ( i wont get my hopes too high as i fully expected John Yorke to do this)

Without doubt i can see quiet a few characters getting the axe as there is plenty of room for this.

Kate will at the least need 6 months for any impact as she has very little to work with starting off as the storylines just aren't there to build on right now.

This is likely a very nervous time for the cast.

“there’s no denying her enthusiasm”

would you write this about a man?

I don’t watch Corrie or Emmerdale but the fact that I’ve heard her name many times in recent years leads me to believe this is a good decision. FFS it needs sorting out.

From what I’ve heard of Kate Oates, I believe she’s probably brave enough to not constantly bow down to Danny Dyer.

Kate appears to have no fear and will take the moves she feels is best for the show.

I am happy for the Carters to stay but not to the dominant level they have now as they particularly Mick is pushed into almost every episode.

God is real *.* She's exactly what the show needs right now to take it out of the current pedestrian rut it's got stuck in since 2016.

Also perfect timing to hopefully have a big impact over Christmas to hook some lost viewers back in.

Not sure if she has enough time to make an impact in time for Christmas but I think 2019 should see the show back on form as we have waited long enough. Is Kate the first to be executive producer on eastenders, corrie and emmerdale?

Janine was always an interesting character but without Pat she may not have the same appeal.

I would welcome a new " square bitch" there is no reason not to be able to develop new characters that can work just as good.

Just caught up. Two observations.

1) why are so many characters wearing woolly hats in August?

2) Rainie and Honey need loads more scenes together.

Yes! "Do you have herbal?" "Not in a mug" had me cracking up!

I'm way behind with the current EE as I'm spending my time watching the classic series on the UKTV Player

They did NOT just recast little Ricky! He was my fave!

Seeing Amy tonight made me wish Roxy was still alive. So short sighted.

Just stick with the classic episodes!

You can catch classic EastEnders on the drama channel weekdays at noon. They only started rerunning it last week which means they are on episode 13 from 1985

I don't watch Eastenders so I don't follow this thread... so apologises if this has already been posted!

Drama (UKTV Play) have started showing Classic Eastenders from the beginning. I think they're showing a couple of episodes a day at midday.
