OOoh that reveal must be New Year's story then!!

Jean is the best thing about ANY soap rn let alone just Eastenders.

I agree she is soap gold, i just love her.

The Sheanu reveal won’t happen until about March apparently. Sharon isn’t back for a while and both Phil and Keanu have panto breaks coming up.

New Year is apparently Mel’s wedding which I’m struggling to care about. I do love Mel but she has felt isolated since Ray came into it and I don’t feel invested.

Good episodes for Christmas.

I also echo other peoples opinion of Jean, she is the a superb character and actress.

There's a difference between falling down the stairs and off the roof of the pub

I’m just still gutted that Abi had Super Nurse Sonia immediately on the scene and still died.

I know we have to suspend our disbelief with it being a soap but Alfie suffered a nasty head wound with a lot of bleeding and was left lying there whilst the others dithered over phoning an ambulance. It’s not unrealistic for him to survive but it is odd that he managed to get up, go upstairs, grab a baby, leave the house whilst closing the door and drive off with a head wound that had rendered him unconscious and without making more than a couple of noises the others could just brush off as the wind.

After a tense, dramatic Christmas Day episode, I thought Boxing Day was pretty dull. The script wasn't exciting either, find it hard to believe it was a Simon Ashdown script.

Jean was the best bit. I loved her ‘he doesn’t look dead’ 20’ minutes before the reveal of him not being dead.

I did think Jessie Wallace seemed a bit off given how wonderful she was the night before. Hayley wasn’t too convincing as a would be murderer and Stacey seemed a little out of place too. They seemed more bothered about looking after Jean.

It may have been better had they focused on other stories as well.

I liked it as comedy, with Jean being the best bit, but it was extremely unrealistic. He could not have driven in that state. Steal a baby and they would have the ARMED RESPONSE out in MINUTES. They know the reg. He wouldn't be going anywhere. See what I mean about this soap favouring the men?!

We’ll never see eye to eye on that last point. This week has shown that the show really does value its female characters.

Agreed, the comedy bits were good and would have been good to compliment the drama if it lived up to expectations. I loved when Jean said "i want to be in here, it's so Christmassy" when Alfie was literally on the floor.

I agree that Kat, Sracey and Hayley didn't give as convincing performances as they should have, but like I said I thought the script was a bit lifeless. Also, is Hayley that stupid to not know the consequences for killing someone?

Tbh I’m waiting to find out what Kim calls her son.

My money’s on Jesus.

One thing I kept thinking about was Kat and Stacey's involvement in the Dirty Den storyline in 2005 and how disgusted they were at how it was covered up, only to find themselves in a similar situation. I don't think either of them would be able to go through with that, either as the leader like Chrissie or being sucked into it like Sam or Zoe.

The whole thinking Alfie was dead only for him to disappear was very Little Mo hits Trevor with an iron aftermath... another Yorke greatest hits!

Philip

Just caught up and my ears are genuinely ringing from Hayley screeching :/ good lord.

I don’t know why all the characters are insisting that Cherry needs her mum. The mum that almost aborted but decided not to. Then claimed she wished she was dead before she was born. Then she drank throughout the pregnancy. Then she tried to kill her self once still pregnant. Then she decided to hide round the corner where no one could find her during labour. Then once Cherry was born, she has twice tried to palm her off on the Ahmed’s and even considered letting her mum sell her on EBay. She screeches like no ones business, ignores all advice from everyone and is shockingly shit to Jean, whose been nicest to her all this time.

That really sounds like the kind of person Cherry needs in her life.

But actually Alfie is no better. Drop the poor kid off at the Ahmeds forever and be done with it I say,

I sort of can and can’t believe Kim would name her son after Mike at the same time.

I have a feeling, and I hope I’m right, that Lisa might make a surprise return next week.

I'm disappointed we don't know what's up with Lisa?

Hopefully this leads to a surprise return! Especially with Mel around now.
