Talk about go from strength to strength though - successful ‘comeback’ album, promo slots on all the major TV shows, sell out arena tour and now summer tour and Glastonbury and potentially Brighton Pride if the rumours are to be believed.

Kylie needs a good break for all early to Mid 2019 and then prepare for this huge showcase for her.

I think the set list will be extremely interesting and also very important.

I hope a good mixture of songs across a few eras will happen.

I do think it will be a fun, emotional, joyful and proud night for Kylie.

If that happened it would be wonderful as it has cost her with chart placings.
So excited for her! I'm fully anticipating this to be a big show :D
Its going to be huge for kylie. I'd love to see Chris Martin from coldplay there for a duet after coldplay's lovely tribute in 2005.

That would be lovely if it happened.

At the time, it was a very moving moment.

A positive reaction from NME here:

Outside of the headliners, the Glastonbury ‘legends slot’ is one of its most enduring – if recent – myth makers. A Sunday afternoon set, perfectly timed to lift spirits and spur you on through that final evening’s sesh, it’s boasted everyone from Neil Diamond to Dolly Parton, Lionel Ritchie to Shirley Bassey, all of whom brought huge singalongs to the Pyramid Stage. Now, finally, it’s Kylie’s turn to shine.

Announced this morning (19 December) as Glastonbury 2019’s Sunday afternoon performer, Kylie’s world-beating ‘Golden’ tour is primed to pull into Worthy Farm on June 30, hits and hotpants in tow. The ‘Golden’ tour, which recently tore through the UK, is a masterclass in pop performance – centred around a Midwest American tale of heartbreak and hedonism, it finds Kylie breaking free of her sugary pop past once and for all. Taking in everything from country to ripping rock numbers (alongside the hits, naturally), it’s proof she’s more than just a shiny pop star.

Below, we’ve rounded up all the reasons Kylie Minogue’s Sunday afternoon legends slot at Glastonbury 2019 is set to be one of the weekend’s most bombastic hours.

Music Week:

Alistair Norbury, president, repertoire & marketing at BMG UK, has spoken to Music Week about the potential Glastonbury effect for Kylie Minogue.

The singer releases a new greatest hits, Step Back In Time, on Friday (June 28). It lands just as Minogue prepares for the coveted Sunday afternoon legends slot at Glastonbury.

“The fact that she’s got the [legends]slot at Glastonbury on the Sunday is a perfect opportunity,” said Norbury. “This is one of our tent pole releases for the year, and the Glastonbury slot couldn’t be a better way to kick off that campaign. This is the platform that everyone wants.”

While Minogue’s career repertoire is with various labels, BMG is well placed to release her first full best of compilation since 2012. As well as being a JV with Warner Music, which controls the Parlophone material, the collection is a collaboration between BMG’s frontline and catalogue teams. It draws on BMG’s control of early catalogue and Minogue’s most recent album, Golden, which peaked at No.1 last April and has sales to date of 147,953, according to the Official Charts Company.

“That’s a perfect example of BMG working the frontline label – where we have Kylie signed – with our catalogue label, which has the PWL catalogue and the Deconstruction catalogue,” said Norbury “So we’re able to put together the Kylie best of. While we have licensed in other material, the Parlophone repertoire, this is about catalogue and frontline working together – and publishing, too, because we publish on a lot of material on that album, either via Kylie or co-writers.”

Norbury described the physical edition as “spectacular”.

“We’ve got very high hopes and [the album] will go all the way through to Christmas,” he said.

Commenting on the campaign, Peter Stack, EVP, global catalogue recordings, added: “We have been working on this for a year. And there is a lot more to come.”

The album also features a new track, New York City.

Wonderful to get the sales update on Golden, 150,000 is coming very soon.

This really shows the belief in the Greatest Hits as they have a plan in place similar to Golden that will help the album recover sales well outside its initial release frame.

That’s a great article from Music Week and BMG really is the best home for Kylie - they seem to totally get the fans want physicals and special editions and they do them well, they also have plans for all their releases long term rather than just week 1 - the fact that there is ‘a lot more to come’ makes me think they could add in some additional Glastonbury content to an updated edition of the album or give us a further album of rarities :cheer: Either way super exciting to have a label that is totally behind Kylie!

BMG clearly know what Kylie fans both want and like and they are serving those needs very well.

They have an understanding of what is needed to keep Kylie in the limelight and be successful with releases and more importantly they believe in Kylie.

All the way through Christmas? I can see why they're excited but the GH would be lucky to last beyond September.

They said they have ‘lots planned’ though so if they manage this the same way as ‘Golden’ and we do get the repackage they mentioned then it should hang around?
