If they released the song on Friday instead of Thursday, I definitely think they would’ve had a top 10 single.

The possiblity is still there, but I feel it might just miss the top 10.

Maybe they couldn't care less because they know it won't go to #1. Many here was predicting it will be out of top 50 or 100 right? At least it's higher than Lighthouse.

I want to hear their reactions and the real reason on why did they released it on a Thursday after this.

I already expected that charting but tbh I'm a bit disappointed because I think they have a bigger record deal than maybe Cheryl? I may be wrong though. I believe her comeback single was a #8 on Monday midweeks.

Well fans on twitter are blaming the label already lol

You guys are worrying TOO much about their single success. At this point in their career, their big money & success will be in the tours and their album. I assume their album will be massive, potentially (depending if anyone like Adele or Ed etc.. release a new album this year) the fastest selling album of the year?

Thats highly posssible, I agree. Plus, maybe they are keeping the big promo for the album. Plus, I doubt that appearing on Lorraine for example would help that much, Norton was the best show they could appear on. Also, I agree it sucks that they released the single on Thursday but I doubt it really was 7K like that site predicted, more like 3K. Of course even that would help but it is what it is. Stop worrying and just enjoy the song ;)

well those are for the other fans. when fans tagging them about their charting, they will post something about them but that's it. I will be seriously very happy if it stays at the top 10 but at this rate I know it's highly unlikely
Too low? That's excellent for Westlife?!

it's too low considering those are the results of all the peak weekend Westlife had right after the release.... Expect it to fall now....

Hello My Love sold 5,081 downloads on Thursday! That's really good.

5,137 sales overall... so it actually managed 56 sales from streaming.

5k is pretty significant really, 5k sales separated the #10 and #20 singles this week.

I wish the song was higher tbh, it deserves it!

I don't get why older people don't stream. Everyone I know around my age streams.

On the previous week 20k was enough for combined top 10 and 30k for top 5.

Streams are very important, but you can get very good result even without them.

Why the label chose Thursday is beyond me. People say because that way can defend themselves if it flops but thats ridiculous, they must have known the song would sell quite well on its first day.

There's an article already from Metro that they have a new song called "Anywhere" by Ed and Steve. Looks like it'll be the second single. big ballad here we go

They said on Graham Norton the album will be out later this year...most likely September so I guess the plan is to get about 3/4 singles out before the album....though I would of recommended getting the album out in time for the tour.

I wouldn't put my money on it.... We will get another single with the album for sure, but I am not confident we will get another one in between... I hope yes, but Westlife will be busy from spring till Autumn with the Tour, and also with the album, so....

Also the single doesn't seem to be a huge success so its a doubt they will invest much on other releases...

Hasn’t been a huge success? It’s Top 10 on midweeks! I expected low Top 40 for this so it’s done really well so far! If they kept the promotion up through the week (I.e performance on Lose Women, The One Show) I imagine it would be Top 10 on Friday!

Why do u consider a huge success to be Top 10 only in midweeks for a comeback single of a famous artist like Westlife? Really...

I'm sure charis we will get more single releases no matter what. I have a feeling it's part of the deal with Universal. They know we are deprived of single releases.

Their promo overseas has been wonderful so far in my observation, major TV and radio plays and promo that I have never seen before since the 2000 maybe. but I admit Syco is way better in UK promotions.

It's really all about context! They're returning after 7 years, they're 20 years old. Their success was founded in the era of physicals, but the charts are now dominated by streaming, which older artists struggle to adapt to (they don't tend to get prominently playlisted, and statistically more younger people stream - and I think it's fair to say that Westlife's core fanbase are probably mostly in their 30s at least... so none of this goes in their favour).

Taking the above into account, #7 in the midweeks is honestly great. It's a testament to the fact that they're still a force when it comes to actual sales. Even if their song ends up somewhere in the Top 20, that's still very good. You can't really compare what they achieve in 2019 to the #1s they managed in 1999-2006.

Back in 2000s, 2004 maybe I remember their former record label had a survey like what are the average age most of their fan base. The lads thought at least it would be 30s but the results were 40-60. That's why they have full of cover singles and ballads, that was their market. I;ve read it in a book or article before
