October 8, 20186 yr That overnight rating is actually higher than every episode of Bodyguard apart from the finale, right? I thought this was a good introduction episode for the 13th Doctor. Jodie was really good and immediately felt like the Doctor but I couldn't help but the general acting directed at children (for example the scene with PC Yaz and the bickering women, referring to themselves as 'grown ups'). Only a minor fault though, I understand that Doctor Who is and always has been targeted as a family show. The threat throughout the episode felt real enough, especially with them killing off one of the main characters although I was confused as to how Graham and Grace knew how to kill/deactivate the Coil. I liked that the Doctor scolded Karl for trying to kill Tzim-Sha at the end though, it was a nice touch. I'm interested to see where they go next but I hope they actually find the TARDIS in the next episode rather than following it about all series like someone else said. Also, the guest cast advertised at the end of the episode doesn't scream A-List but it's pretty much a who's who of big characters from a lot of recent TV dramas and Alan Cumming and Art Malik are both huge names.
October 8, 20186 yr Amazing ratings. Well deserved! I hope they stay high for the remainder of the series.
October 8, 20186 yr He has dyspraxia, so that's why the bike scenes played such an important part in the introduction of his character / his development from the scenes at the beginning of the episode to the scenes at the end. I've read a couple of comments from people with the disorder that say the scenes were very relatable, so while they may have seemed strange to those who have never experienced that, I can imagine it resonated with a number of viewers who have. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45784822
October 12, 20186 yr Apparently this is now sitting at [roughly] 9.96m as the 13th most-watched episode, overtaking both The Christmas Invasion and The Snowmen :o It's still the first feature on iPlayer too! *.*
October 12, 20186 yr Wait for the 22 and it'll be higher than the bodyguard!! #breakthebodyguard'srecord Imma watch this again!! If I watch it from my recording on same tv and box will it count as a new viewing?
October 12, 20186 yr Author I don’t think recordings count if you’re not a BARB viewer but not certain! Best bet is to watch from iPlayer!!
October 12, 20186 yr Yeah it's best to watch from a device as I believe TV views are calculated based on BARB panel viewers
October 15, 20186 yr Author The Woman Who Fell to Earth was the most watched TV show of last week with consolidated ratings of 10.9m!! This makes it the most watched episode since The Time of the Doctor (Matt Smith's final episode). It also makes it the most watched episode of nu-Who discounting specials! :o This does of course include catch up ratings which BARB recently introduced, if you focus on TV sets, that gives the show a rating of 10.5m which makes it (discounting specials) the most watched since Journey's End (finale of Series 4) and then Rose before that. Absolutely incredible and I definitely definitely definitely never expected that!! I was just hoping for at least 6m before the overnights came in :')
October 15, 20186 yr Glad to see it's done so well in terms of ratings! I think we were all probably expecting the worst after the decline in ratings during Moffat's era, but here's hoping it can maintain a stable audience given it seems to have left a positive impact on fans both old and new.
