October 27, 20186 yr I agree that the deluxe tracks often 'spoil the flow' and don't quite fit in with the main tracks. I'll normally listen to the deluxe tracks on Spotify and might download them if I particularly like them, but most of the time the album feels more natural with the standard tracklist.
October 28, 20186 yr In terms of preference, it can vary whether I'd purchase the standard or deluxe. Sometimes it is as trivial as which album artwork I prefer! I agree that deluxe tracks are usually songs that don't fit the sound of the standard album rather than quality of the songs themselves. For instance, on Kylie's Golden, Lost Without You is definitely one of the best songs for me, but it doesn't follow the country-pop style of the rest of the album so I can see why it was left out. Got to say it is much more convenient that standard and deluxe editions are usually released at the same time. At least you can choose then and there which edition you want instead of buying one version of the album and then feeling like you should buy a deluxe edition further along the line. Obviously albums are still re-released, often to capitalise on Christmas sales, but they tend to more often than not have a fair few new songs there to offer.

Main reason I got the Born This Way deluxe edition was so I didn’t have to look at the cover with GaGa merging into a motorbike.
October 28, 20186 yr If I'm buying a CD I always go for the standard edition. It, to me, feels like the way the artist intended you to hear the album and often has a natural album closer.i fully get this take LM- Get weird for example the last track on the standard is called the end it doesnt seem right to have a track called that 4 tracks from the end like on the deluxe (although the far superior SLS is deluxe only) Edited October 28, 20186 yr by 777666jason
