October 25, 20187 yr Don’t forget the Spice Girls at the end of 1997 with Too Much, Spiceworld, and Spiceworld the Movie. Too much was number 1 between 27.12.97 > 03.01.98 spice world was number 1 between 15.11.97 - 22.11.97 then didn't go to number one again until 13.12.97 and was only there for a week so the single and album weren't number 1 at the same time. October 25, 20187 yr I really thought 'Just Got Paid' would go top 10 this week :( Is it gaining on top 10 or falling behind? Could Zara possibly go top 30 this week, Joseph?
October 25, 20187 yr It will be wonderful if Lady Gaga can hold onto the current positions. I am slightly worried the number 1 in the singles chart is not secured just yet.
October 25, 20187 yr The way it can be looked at is Gaga is the first US female artist (as John Travolta in grease rules out Bradley's chances) to have the number one single while having the number 1 movie & number 1 soundtrack in the UK.

October 25, 20187 yr Guys, this is turning into a GAGA thread; can we save the fawning for her for Artist forum please? Let's get some perspective here. GAGA was lucky to get cast in ASIB, tbh anyone (even Sinitta) would have a potential #1 with this song, after featuring in the film. So let's not get carried away with talk of a GAGA comeback; until Bradley hired her, her UK singles career was dying. Even the wonderful 'Million Reasons' only got to UK #39. It remains highly likely GAGA will never have a solo #1 again (and possibly a solo top ten hit) in the UK; which makes her casting lucky. The single 'Shallow' is just that; it's shallow and dreadful; but just like the awful songs from Greatest Showman, it's taken off because of the film's success. The real winner here is Bradley Cooper, not GAGA.
October 25, 20187 yr Bit of an odd argument, that. Anyway... Personally I'm happy to see Lady GaGa get number one tomorrow. Good to see Rak-Su are heading for top 40 too!
October 25, 20187 yr I doubt Sinitta would be #1 with Shallow :D :D :D lol man Yeah, he's so mad, just ignore him :)
October 25, 20187 yr I think it’s a golden career move this for Gaga and surely, SURELY has/will raise her profile much higher again ready for the next release. It’s all very Madonna. She went 8 years without a number 1, starring in Evita in between.

Obviously people are going to be discussing that. You sound upset. Take a Xanax and get to bed.

If she wasn't in the movie, the music as it is, wouldn't exist. And it says something that it's Shallow and 2 Gaga solo songs that are charting. Fact is, the music is fantastic and the movie is superb. That's why it's doing well. Having the number 1 single, album and movie in the country at the same time is no mean feat so let's just appreciate what a fantastic achievement it is.

Have you HEARD modern music?? Funky Friday AND Freaky Friday were both no.1 this year for starters

She went 8 years without a number 1, starring in Evita in between. Wrong - Madonna enjoyed 17 top ten singles between #1 Vogue and Don't Cry For Me Argentina - whilst Madonna didn't score at #1's during the time you mention, she was still a major chart star. GAGA enjoyed just 6 Top 10's since her last #1 and chart wise her singles have become less and less successful. It's also cardinal sin to ever put GAGA in the same sentance as Madonna anyway, they are two very different Artists. I don't mind GAGA, but Shallow is crap; as is the fawning on here - get a room Little Monsters!! Madonna has had more top ten singles than any other female - 65 Top 10 UK singles - GAGA has had....... only 11. As chart stars, there is NO comparison I'm afraid :D Edited October 25, 20187 yr by DASHER77
October 25, 20187 yr An aging Madonna fan trying to diminish the accomplishments of Lady Gaga... groundbreaking
October 25, 20187 yr chart wise her singles have become less and less successful. But that's just factually incorrect though. The Cure was a top 20 hit and spent 8 weeks in the top 40 4 months after Million Reasons peaked.
