October 24, 20187 yr Tbh does R1 playlisting even matter?! I don't think airplay really has that much of an effect at all anymore really, not like it used to. It has an effect on some songs more than others. But you're right that in this case, airplay really doesn't matter, everyone's talking about the song, everyone's talking about the film, and that's what's making it a hit.
October 24, 20187 yr Airplay most certainly has an effect - where would Freya Ridings be without it, for example? However, Shallow has extra impact from the fact it features in such a massive film. It basically makes up for airplay in this case.
October 24, 20187 yr If the shallow and the album go to number one Lady Gaga and Bradley will have the number 1 album, single and movie
October 24, 20187 yr 30k for a no.1:o Sales are through t floor rn! Well 30k won't be enough for #1 by the end of the week!
October 24, 20187 yr I hope by Friday that Lady Cooper can remain #1, Zara and James can remain top 40 and that Rak-Su can push Keala out of the top 40
October 24, 20187 yr I'll really miss when sales have no influence left on the charts whatsoever. Sure, a song needs to do extremely well on streaming to top the official chart, as Shallow is, but I'd be surprised if something like Shallow ever made it to the top of the streaming chart. With sales still having a small, but often decisive, influence, we still have a slightly more interesting list of chart toppers than we probably will in a few years time (unless streaming habits change/speed up!). The whole politics of streaming needs to change and evolve more than anything, I hope in years to come it will otherwise it's a very dark future ahead. :(
October 24, 20187 yr As if my Instagram feed is blocked up with adverts for ‘Promises’ by Calvin Harris with links to download and stream - he clearly doesn’t want to give up that #1 spot!

October 24, 20187 yr Airplay most certainly has an effect - where would Freya Ridings be without it, for example? Lost & crushed I imagine :basil:
October 24, 20187 yr Baby Shark still top 40 (#38 today) I wonder if Greatest Showman & Jess Glynne will overtake Richard Ashcroft by Friday.
October 24, 20187 yr I can't find information about the UK movie box office for '61-'62 because Gaga has the chance to be the only singer to have the triple (single, album and movie) The only competition would be Elvis for either G.I Blues or Blue Hawaii, but even if any of the film were number one at the box office at the same time the albums and corresponding single were number one Gaga would be the first female to do it.
October 24, 20187 yr How far away are little mix from the top 5 please? Any chance they’ll make it back in by Friday?
October 24, 20187 yr Author How far away are little mix from the top 5 please? Any chance they’ll make it back in by Friday? unlikely, they're 4k behind Rita

October 24, 20187 yr Lady GaGa could be the 1st Solo Female to have the UK's No.1 Single, Album and Movie, at the same time. However, Olivia Newton-John may have beaten her to it, in 1978. She was No.1 - at the same time - for several Weeks, with 'Summer Nights', (with John Travolta), and the 'Grease' Soundtrack. As 'Grease' was the UK's No.1 Film for 1978, she was very likely also No.1 - at the same time - with that Movie. Agnetha and Frida probably achieved it as half of ABBA in 1978. That would be with 'Take A Chance On Me', 'The Album' and 'ABBA - The Movie'. 'ABBA - The Movie' was the UK's 7th biggest Film of 1978. Which means that it was almost certainly No.1 in the Weekly UK Box Office. Edited October 24, 20187 yr by zeus555
