October 25, 20187 yr Wrong - Madonna enjoyed 17 top ten singles between #1 Vogue and Don't Cry For Me Argentina - whilst Madonna didn't score at #1's during the time you mention, she was still a major chart star. GAGA enjoyed just 6 Top 10's since her last #1 and chart wise her singles have become less and less successful. It's also cardinal sin to ever put GAGA in the same sentance as Madonna anyway, they are two very different Artists. I don't mind GAGA, but Shallow is crap; as is the fawning on here - get a room Little Monsters!! Madonna has had more top ten singles than any other female - 65 Top 10 UK singles - GAGA has had....... only 11. As chart stars, there is NO comparison I'm afraid :D Why do you keep using random semi colons? Also yes GaGa has been FlopGa, but this movie has surely helped.
October 25, 20187 yr Guys, this is turning into a GAGA thread; can we save the fawning for her for Artist forum please? Let's get some perspective here. GAGA was lucky to get cast in ASIB, tbh anyone (even Sinitta) would have a potential #1 with this song, after featuring in the film. So let's not get carried away with talk of a GAGA comeback; until Bradley hired her, her UK singles career was dying. Even the wonderful 'Million Reasons' only got to UK #39. It remains highly likely GAGA will never have a solo #1 again (and possibly a solo top ten hit) in the UK; which makes her casting lucky. The single 'Shallow' is just that; it's shallow and dreadful; but just like the awful songs from Greatest Showman, it's taken off because of the film's success. The real winner here is Bradley Cooper, not GAGA. What the bloody hell are you going on about?! Embarassing lol

I damn done did have to make a damn account just to respond to this drivel... This....this post right here is what outlined your intentions when you entered this thread. Nobody cares what Madonna did or did not manage to achieve in the eight years between Vogue and Don't Cry, at least nobody in this thread that is discussing the outcome of this current week's UK charts... y'know, in 2018. Saying that her singles have become less and less successful is a damn lie too. Million Reasons showed more longeity than Perfect Illusion and ultimately got certified. The Cure showed bigger success than both MR and PI, and now Shallow is her next big hit. Just say congrats and move on. Your attempt to downplay this movie's unexpected success is insane. Maybe people thought Gaga could snatch a cute top 10, but for the triple punch of the #1 single, album, and movie, all in one week? Its bound to be the mian point of discussion in a chart thread. How is that hard to grasp? And to say that anybody could have made this music sell its damn near stupid too. Gaga wrote and co-produced this song, alongside 80% of the entire OST, it's the work of Gaga, her team, and Bradely on his solos. Which, might I add, are not lighting up the charts in the way the solo gaga songs are. This film hits as hard as it does because of the GP seeing a new side of the "meat dress lady" from eight years ago. Both Cooper and Gaga's chemistry and solid acting is also proving a hit with the fans. Please don't shrug off Gaga and Cooper's hard work on this movie and soundtrack just in order for you to get a dig at Gaga. We get it, you don't like her, seeing her doing numbers that don't fit with your narrative is bound to be frustrating. Maybe the "Comeback Corner" over at PopJustice is where you would thrive.... sounds like it anyways. Lol, cheerio!

Um someone let the Madonna stan out their Madonna Nation boards lol Not to mention ARUTW and INLA (Gaga solo songs) keep rising into the top 30 despite being non-singles Edited October 25, 20187 yr by befour
October 25, 20187 yr Nice to see Lady Cooper increasing their lead from Calvin and I hope Zara can push into the top 30
October 25, 20187 yr What have I just read regarding the GaGa/Madonna posts? James Arthur to sneak in to the Top40 or miss out?

As chart stars, there is NO comparison I'm afraid :D I wish the Madonna and gaga comparisons would stop gaga = 10 years and 7 album Madonna = 40 odd years and 16 albums so comparing there number 1 albums and singles are just stupid really. Also I think Madonna fans are going to be annoyed at the success of this movie/soundtrack because gaga has 3 song submitted to the Oscars which if she is nominated and if she was to win it would be in her name as he wrote on all three songs unlike a certain non Oscar nominated artists of 40+ years Edited October 25, 20187 yr by Warrentw
October 25, 20187 yr *Technically* not, as the OCC are crediting it as 'Motion Picture Cast Recording'. That's why I worded it that way she would have the number one single and she would be in a number 1 that has a number 1 soundtrack (which she has a lot of credits in) and to be honest who would actually be able to achieve this as most of the movie soundtracks would be classed as a motion picture cast recording, so this would also excluded Olivia newton john in grease and when ABBA released their movie their album was not technically classed as the movies soundtrack it was a album that just happened to be released when the film was and is credited as a proper ABBA album. October 25, 20187 yr Complete and utter codswallop to put it politely, Bradley Cooper always had her in mind for the film. She didn't enter a lottery draw and happen upon this role. Her talent is carrying a lot of the film, and song's, success. It and she is being talked about because the song, album and her in general are IN THE CHART which is the point. If it was all flopping and took over threads yes, but naturally people are happy with a deserved #1. It has absolutely nothing to do with Madonna, Gaga's career is taking a different turn and not every female popular artist has to be compared to Madonna, nobody could compare to peak Madonna so there is no point, it doesn't detract from her that other artists do well.
October 25, 20187 yr iRxsX_30tjs There can be 100 people in a room and 99 don't believe you and just 1 does. That can change your whole life. :P Edited October 25, 20187 yr by WhoOdyssey
October 25, 20187 yr The classification of the album as a Motion Picture Cast Recording is irritating. It's only that because of the dialogue tracks, some of which are mere seconds long and feature one other actor saying one line. Gaga and Cooper are the only two performers on that soundtrack, and wrote the material. It really should be officially credited to them.
October 25, 20187 yr No one comes close to Madonna's success. She is up there with Michael Jackson and the Beatles. GaGa is doing well with this new album, but Madonna is in a different success league, so you shouldn't feel threatened.
October 25, 20187 yr Gaga and Cooper are the only two performers on that soundtrack, and wrote the material. It really should be officially credited to them. It shouldn't matter either way. Anyone who uses arbitrary OCC crediting in order to shuffle around the relative success of artists in a way that suits them should probably just be ignored. In saying that, success and popularity is only used to gloat when it's convenient to the person doing so. Like sporting teams, people will go to great lengths to justify their stance which may have been made long before anyone could have known what the future would hold. It just so happens that it's a really bad time for anyone who was hoping Lady Gaga's career was over. Edited October 25, 20187 yr by Dircadaver

Exactly if this is the case are they gonna go back through albums where the artist has an interlude when someone is talking (like alot of rap albums) are they going to class these as cast recording.
October 25, 20187 yr Dasher sis what’s good? Take a breather and come back later. ‘GAGA’ is likely to do the double this week in the UK CHART so y’all talk about her as much as you like. But this argument is pointless and further argumentative posts will be deleted. Cya!
October 25, 20187 yr The point of raising Madonna was that she had a dip in form, did a movie, rose back to prominence with countless number 1s since. All those top 10s in between were from an era of fan base buying so really I don’t see it as a realistic point to raise that. She was a number 1 artist before that dip. The point is that Gaga will surely capitalise on this film success and go on to more top level success again.
