November 23, 20186 yr Post Melone has said he might have new music out before the end of the year and Miley Cyrus + Mark Ronson have a new song coming out soon. Apart from Ariana the bookies are all over the place with their odds.
November 23, 20186 yr Jess Glynne odds aren't that great really, particularly when Clean Bandit were like 25/1 only days before the important chart week started in 2016. That was - in hindsight - easy money...* : ( * Though the sudden The Dave Clark Five (Glad All Over) boost must have been pretty hairy for a while early in the week. I backed Clean Bandit that year and thankfully I believe Dave Clark Five was released midweek. Last year I was just praying Adele didn’t release.
November 23, 20186 yr Love how open the race is still at this point. George Ezra is making movement in the right direction, but it doesn’t look like a number 1 contender at this point (let alone a Christmas number 1 contender).

This is my thinking too, Shotgun only just got there and that was massive.
November 23, 20186 yr This is my thinking too, Shotgun only just got there and that was massive. Shotgun had two runs at Number 1 either side of Drake if my memory serves me right! I’m not sure Hold My Girl will be Number 1 now, think they should of starting promoting it earlier tbh!
November 24, 20186 yr James Masterton makes an interesting point in his chart round-up this week. This Is Me will have been reset to ACR after the addition of the new version. He's put a tenner on it at 25-1.
November 24, 20186 yr Personally, I doubt it. OTOH, if the new version really takes off, it could just surprise us.
November 24, 20186 yr Oh Christ no, do they not normally do new songs nowadays? Can't even remember last years lol?!
November 24, 20186 yr This Is Me increased by 43% so not enough to return to SCR anyway! Ah, OK. It needs another hefty boost to get back to SCR then. Looks like James Masterton has lost his tenner.

Looks like it is Ariana Grande's to lose right now, but I totally agree Ed Sheeran showed us a very crafty way to get to #1 last year. I can see multiple versions of Thursday being released if it looks like there might be a sniff (which of course we know there is...).
November 24, 20186 yr Speaking of Ed, there is an Ed and Jess duet version of Thursday on YouTube but it hasn't been released to iTunes/Spotify yet, maybe they're waiting until Christmas week to release that properly to try and push it to #1.

He did a duet version with Anne-Marie for 2002, but they never released that.
November 24, 20186 yr the video for Ariana's 'thank u, next' is to come out next week which is bound to do giant numbers and possibly give it the streaming push (along with a vertical video on Spotify and better playlist placements) to the Christmas #1

Apart from Ariana the bookies are all over the place with their odds. Because there is no obvious candidate atm. Even if a song drops now or a current song starts getting serious momentum, there are still weeks left for it to hold out. All it needs is a huge artist like Ed Sheeran to drop a new song on the Friday of Christmas week and it will be guaranteed the number one.
