Biography

Lady Gaga

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986), known professionally as Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her unconventionality and provocative work, as well as visual experimentation. Gaga began performing as a teenager, singing at open mic nights and acting in school plays. She studied at Collaborative Arts Project 21, through New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, before dropping out to pursue a music career. After Def Jam Recordings canceled her contract, Gaga worked as a songwriter for Sony/ATV Music Publishing, where Akon helped her sign a joint deal with Interscope Records and his own label KonLive Distribution in 2007. She rose to prominence the following year with her debut album, the electropop record The Fame, and its chart-topping singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face". A follow-up EP, The Fame Monster (2009), featuring the singles "Bad Romance", "Telephone", and "Alejandro", also proved successful.

Gaga's second full-length album Born This Way (2011) explored electronic rock and techno-pop. The album peaked atop the US Billboard 200 and sold more than one million copies in the country during its first week. Its title track became the fastest selling song on the iTunes Store with over a million downloads in less than a week. Gaga ventured into EDM with her third studio album Artpop (2013), which reached number one in the US and included the single "Applause". Her collaborative jazz album with Tony Bennett, titled Cheek to Cheek, and her soft rock-influenced fifth studio album, Joanne (2016), also topped the US charts. During this period, Gaga also ventured into acting, playing leading roles in the miniseries American Horror Story: Hotel (2015–2016), for which she received a Golden Globe Award, and the musical romantic drama film A Star Is Born (2018). She also contributed to the latter's soundtrack, which made her the only woman to achieve five US number one albums in the 2010s.

Having sold 27 million albums and 146 million singles as of January 2016, Gaga is one of the best-selling music artists in history. Her achievements include several Guinness World Records, six Grammys, three Brit Awards, and an award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Gaga has been declared Billboard's Artist of the Year and included among Forbes's power and earnings rankings. She was ranked at number four on VH1's Greatest Women in Music in 2012, finished second on Time's 2011 readers' poll of the most influential people of the past ten years, and was named Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2015. She is known for her philanthropy and social activism, including LGBT rights, and for her non-profit organization, the Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on promoting youth empowerment and combating bullying. - Wikipedia

Bradley Cooper

Bradley Charles Cooper (born January 5, 1975) is an American actor and filmmaker. He has been nominated for many awards, including four Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and two Golden Globes. Cooper appeared in Forbes Celebrity 100 on two occasions and Time's list of 100 most influential people in the world in 2015. His films have grossed $7.8 billion worldwide and he was named one of the world's highest-paid actors for three years.

Cooper enrolled in the MFA program at the Actors Studio, New York City in 2000. His career began in 1999 with a guest role in the television series Sex and the City. He made his film debut two years later in the comedy Wet Hot American Summer. He first gained recognition as Will Tippin in the spy-action television show Alias (2001–2006), and achieved minor success with a supporting part in the comedy film Wedding Crashers (2005). His breakthrough role came in 2009 with The Hangover, a critically and commercially successful comedy, which spawned two sequels in 2011 and 2013. Cooper's portrayal of a struggling writer in the thriller Limitless (2011) and a rookie police officer in the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) drew praise from critics.

Cooper found greater success with the romantic comedy Silver Linings Playbook (2012), the black comedy crime film American Hustle (2013), and the war biopic American Sniper (2014), which he also produced. For his work in these films, he was nominated for four Academy Awards, becoming the tenth actor to receive an Oscar nomination in three consecutive years. In 2014, he portrayed Joseph Merrick in a Broadway revival of The Elephant Man, garnering a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. That year he also voiced Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2018, Cooper directed his first film with the musical romantic drama A Star Is Born, in which he also starred. He also contributed to its writing, production, and US Billboard 200 number one soundtrack.

Cooper's personal life is the subject of constant media attention. He was married to Jennifer Esposito from 2006 to 2007 and has been in a relationship with Irina Shayk (with whom he has a daughter) since 2015. Cooper supports several organizations that help people fight cancer. - Wikipedia

Biography

Jason Derulo

Jason Joel Desrouleaux (born September 21, 1989), known professionally as Jason Derulo (/dəˈruːloʊ/; formerly stylised as Derülo), is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. Since the start of his solo recording career in 2009, Derulo has sold over 30 million singles and has achieved eleven Platinum singles, including "Wiggle", "Talk Dirty", "In My Head", and "Whatcha Say".

After producing records for several artists and writing songs for Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman, Young Money Entertainment owner Lil Wayne and rapper Diddy, Derulo signed to minor recording label Beluga Heights. After Beluga Heights became part of the Warner Music Group, Derulo released his debut single "Whatcha Say" in May 2009. It sold over five million digital downloads, gaining an RIAA certification of triple Platinum, and reaching number 1 in the U.S. and New Zealand. Derulo released his second single, "In My Head", in December 2009 and his debut studio album, Jason Derulo, followed on March 2, 2010. He released his second album, Future History, on September 16, 2011; the album was preceded by the release of the UK number-one single "Don't Wanna Go Home". Derulo's third international album, Tattoos, was released on September 24, 2013 and later repackaged as his third U.S. album, Talk Dirty, released on April 15, 2014.

In 2015, Derulo released his single "Want to Want Me" and announced his fourth studio album, Everything Is 4, which was released on June 2, 2015. His next album, 2Sides, will follow in 2018. - Wikipedia

David Guetta

From his early days playing Chicago house in French discotheques to his long reign atop the pop charts, David Guetta has revolutionized dance music multiple times. Born in Paris in 1967, Guetta began DJing in the late ’80s, when the shimmery sound known as the “French touch” was taking shape. By the early 2000s, at his F*** Me I’m Famous parties in Ibiza, he had translated that melodic style into a clever merger of pop sass and club swagger. He parlayed that mix into pure platinum with hits like 2003’s “Just for One Day,” an energy-stoking rework of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” and 2002’s “Just a Little More Love,” a sultry bump-and-grind featuring R&B singer Chris Willis. That versatility—along with a knack for killer hooks—would become one of Guetta’s principal calling cards, and as EDM exploded across pop culture at the end of the 2000s, Guetta’s shapeshifting style led the way, yielding ecstatic affirmations (“When Love Takes Over”), feisty come-ons (“Sexy Bitch”), and unstoppable singalongs (The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling,” which Guetta produced). Since then, his collaborations (Sia, Nicki Minaj) have kept listeners guessing even as his choruses—triumphant as a bottle of bubbly blowing its top—have proven one of pop’s most dependable pleasures. - iTunes

Can't believe Marina hasn't been in the charts since 2013 until now! She deserves infinitely better.

Edited by Jamie Barkley

How to be a heartbreaker/88

this should have charted 8+0 places higher for Marina!!!!!

A bit disappointed by these new entries. That Benny/Calvin song was just... there. Nothing interesting about it at all. 'Baby' is good but I feel like I would've been into it way more about a year ago, that sound just feels exhausted now. My least favourite from this era so far :(

'Close To Me' is really underrated! Wishing that was doing better for Ellie and co.

Half of the year in the UK top 40 is not for everyone baby.

Shotgun is of course in my top 10 of the year. :P

by comparison, where did the other CB singles debut?

Bad Bunny featuring Drake

MIA

-

170x0w.jpg

Non-Album Single

Released: 11th October 2018

Label: OVO Sound/Rimas Entertainment/Warner Bros. Records

For the biggest rising phenomenon in Latin pop, getting Drake to sing on a new single wasn't the surprise—it was getting him to do so entirely in Spanish. But what Bad Bunny is proudest of when it comes to “MIA” is what Drizzy en español means for his culture, and for this moment. "Obviously, this song is an achievement for me in my career, but what makes me really feel good is to make Latinos feel proud,” he tells Apple Music. “To provoke that pride that a pop figure and someone so big in music globally like Drake would sing with me completely in Spanish and create this hit.” And while the big-ticket feature will undoubtedly pique curiosity, it doesn't overshadow Bad Bunny himself, who makes the most of his star turn, rapping about loyalty over a floating dembow beat. - iTunes

Biography

- Wikipedia

Biography

James Arthur was the victor of the British X Factor's ninth season in 2012, winning the public vote with a rendition of Shontelle's rousing ballad "Impossible." Born in Middlesbrough, England, Arthur had written and performed in various bands since the age of 15, as well as performing solo in pubs and bars in his hometown. Many early recordings of the singer/songwriter illustrate the pop/rock and hip-hop influences that helped to shape his unique voice and style. Before he appeared on The X Factor, Arthur made it into the final 200 contestants of the U.K.'s The Voice TV series in 2011, without managing to progress any further. A year later, he auditioned for The X Factor, where he sang judge Tulisa Contostavlos' song "Young" and subsequently made it through the boot-camp round and into the live shows.

From then on, Arthur showcased his considerable talents and slowly improved under the watchful eye of mentor Nicole Sherzinger. He was pitted against Jahméne Douglas and Christopher Maloney in the final round of the contest, where he impressed the audience with performances of Cy Grant's "Feeling Good," Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love," and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." The final song of the evening -- the version of Shontelle's "Impossible" -- was released immediately after Arthur was announced as the winner and made it to number one in the U.K. and Ireland, while also charting across Europe. He then went on tour with the X Factor show, playing across the U.K. in huge, sold-out arenas such as Wembley and the Birmingham LG.

After his X Factor success, Arthur worked alongside singer/songwriter Labrinth and Graham Stack (JLS, Take That, Westlife) in preparation for his debut album. He put out the eponymous release later that year; the album featured "Impossible" and "Roses" (with Emeli Sandé), as well as follow-up singles "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You," "Recovery," and "Get Down." Arthur departed from Syco Music the following year and briefly returned to the scene with an independent release, the rap mixtape All the World's a Stage. The singer/songwriter made a return in 2016, signing a record deal with Columbia and issuing his second full-length effort, Back from the Edge. The stripped-down and reflective record was led by the singles "Say You Won't Let Go" and "Remember Who I Was." The next year, he featured on Rudimental's "Sun Comes Up" and issued his own solo single, "Naked." - iTunes
